RE: [hlds_linux] Aimbot influx on your server lately?

2003-01-13 Thread Capriotti
Yes, I've seen people with wallhacks and aimbots, sometimes both. And
something someone referred to as speedhack, but this one wasn't proved.

While I was playing I saw one guy hit 5 HSs in a row without a sniping gun !

Lovely.

And, yes, sometimes some users just vanish, whenever there is someone
spectating. Coincidentally, the users that had 28/4 frag/death type of score.

And sometimes those 28/4 type of guys start to play really bad, whenever I
log on to the server and start spectating.

Funny, uh ?

We know VAC is working, but it seems to be going nowhere also. Frozen in
time, not keeping up with the bad guys.

Are y'all sure its 'aimbots' and not that everyone has learned of the
ex_ cvars? Cuz, on my server, I havent really had too many people that
were that questionable, and there usually are. A lot of people are
REALLY good now due to the cvar exploits... but thats about it. I am
still seeing about 1 cheater banned by VAC a day, so its working.

Doh! Terribly sorry about that. It looks like the standard C++
library got linked dynamically instead of statically, like we did
that before. I'll have to check why that happened and correct it
tonight. I'm sorry but I can't do anything right now, it will have
to wait another 7 hours.

In the mean time you can try and add a symlink under the name
libstdc++-libc6.1-2.so.3 poiting to your version of the stdlibc++.

Again, I'm sorry about that.

Florian.

I didn't have the time to properly tag it last night so it has no
special tag. Just check out the trunk of module stable. We are
in the process of rearranging the CVS repository and switching to
new modules. So, instead of checking out admin_v2, check out

2003-01-13 Thread Eric (Deacon)
Yes, I've seen people with wallhacks and aimbots, sometimes
both. And something someone referred to as speedhack, but
 this one wasn't proved.

I saw a working speed hack about a week ago. Banned on sight.

While I was playing I saw one guy hit 5 HSs in a row without a
 sniping gun !

And? It happens...

And, yes, sometimes some users just vanish, whenever there is
someone spectating. Coincidentally, the users that had 28/4
 frag/death type of score.

Unless your server is frequented by an unusually high skill balance,
28/4 isn't necessarily a) impossible b) unusual. Lately I've been
pulling those scores in most pubs I visit, and I'm not even really that
good compared to a lot of the guys I know...

And sometimes those 28/4 type of guys start to play really bad,
whenever I log on to the server and start spectating.

Heh, watch their movements to gauge their noob level. I *have* LANed
with some guys who had great aim but had no idea how to move around the
map or really be a pro in general, but it's pretty rare. If they're
moving like they just learned just yesterday how to use a mouse, whereas
before they were popping heads at midrange with no difficulty, they
might have been employing some artificial aiming help ;)

What does that return? Not that I can help after that, but I have
a feeling someone might be asking that.

You DID extract the files instead of just copying the archive
over adminmod right?

I don't know why I'm giving advice, myne isn't working yet
either.

Huh? Must be an unresolved symbol in the mySQL client lib.

Try this (again ;):

I saw a working speed hack about a week ago. Banned on sight.

I too have seen this. The ones I've seen when they shoot they just go
apsolutely spastic, everything looks like it is on fast forward!.

If they're
moving like they just learned just yesterday how to use a mouse, whereas
before they were popping heads at midrange with no difficulty, they
might have been employing some artificial aiming help ;)

normal? the sg was suspended in air. The engi appeared to be able to
roam.White spots instead of players. This was also the report from two
other peeps that watched it, on different PC's as well. Suspected cheater,
but needed concrete proof.

From: Jules (aka Buddha-Pest)
oh ya, i watched it. looked 100% normal to me. i'm not sure what your
 issue with it is.

Looks like a corrupted download to me. Run the command file on the
admin_MM_i386.so and see what it says. It should say it is an ELF file:
admin_MM_i386.so: ELF 32-bit LSB shared object, Intel 80386, version 1,
not stripped

If that is not the case, redownload it.

Ok, that did it. MAan. What a bitch. This is why I'm sticking
to adminmod. Not the problems with new releases, but the
persistence of one man in his quest to get my problem and that of
many others ironed out. Thank you. :-)
