Yes, it is a good alternative.
I use 17.0, but there are more updated versions which work well.

[JAWS-Users] Plain Old Favorites works in firefox 22 again

2013-07-07 Thread Cristóbal
Hello list,

I just thought I’d let folks know since this issue has come up previously
that the Plain Old favorites add-on for Firefox works in version 22 again. I
wrote the dev the other day about it and he responded yesterday and provided
a link to the latest update (version 1.3). It is: http://www.iosart.com/fir

For whatever reason, this update still isn’t showing up in the check for
updates section of the add-ons manager. I had to install it manually, but
the point is that it works. Now I can go back to hiding that firefox
bookmarks menu and just use the POF like old instead.

There were some Mozilla forum threads mentioning that the dev was no longer
going to script for Firefox and that there was no real work-around for this,
but to just import bookmarks into the Firefox bookmarks menu. Also that the
dev wasn’t responding to emails regarding the same. Thankfully, this turned
out not to be the case.

In any event, I thought I’d post the update with the link. The same link is
making the rounds in the Mozilla forums too.

2013-07-07 Thread Mike B.
Hi John,

Give any of the following a try. These are several notes from various
sources that I've saved regarding this topic.

1. While in an open Word document, press Alt+F followed by Alt+T to go
into the Word options.
2. Use down arrow twice to the Proofing tab.
3. Use tab key one time to the AutoCorrect options button and press
spacebar.
4. Use CTRL+tab until you get to the AutoFormat as you type tab.
5. Use tab key until you find a checkbox labeled Automatic bulleted
lists. If you don't want your lists to continue being bulleted when you
use a bullet in a document then use spacebar to uncheck the item.
6. Tab one more time to the checkbox labeled Automatic Numbered lists
and use spacebar to remove the checkmark if you don't want to have auto
numbering used.
7. Use tab key to the OK button and press spacebar.
8. Use tab key to the OK button again and press spacebar.
Take care.

Re: [JAWS-Users] New Folders

2013-07-07 Thread Mike O'Brien
Hi

If you go to the Navigation Paine, (the Outlook 2010 name), when you press
the home key, you will be taken to the top of the folder list. The list
under this folder only shows the folders that are directly in that folder.
This is your high level Outlook folder. To find the unlisted folders, you
need to look under the folder in which the new folder was created. I
believe that the Outlook default is to put the new folder under the folder
you are currently in. So when you create a new folder, after you enter the
folder name, tab and you will get a list of the folders you can put it
under. If you want to put in under the high level folder, you need to press
home to select that folder. To find the ones you have already created, as
you arrow down the list of folders, press right arrow, and if that folder
has folders under it, JAWS will say the folder name, then opened. You can
then arrow down through the folders that are directly under that folder.
You could have many levels of folders.

It seems that in some JAWS upgrades this inconvenience is fixed, but
then it comes back.
I haven't figured out how to fix it myself, so I deal with it,
considering how otherwise user-friendly TB is.
Just press your control key to sop the repetition or turn auto read off.

That might be for your mouse pad on a lenovo, but totally different
for a dell. Not all laptop and netbook use the same key combos for
