99% chance a dupe, otherwise (in case it happens once the other bug is fixed)
install debug packages for a better backtrace (presented one lacks debug
symbols)

virtualbox is btw. not a gtk application and the problem is that something™
changes the virtual desktop.

[plasmashell] [Bug 363800] New: Can't preview windows on the task manager that are minimized

2016-06-01 Thread via KDE Bugzilla
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=363800

Bug ID: 363800
Summary: Can't preview windows on the task manager that are
minimized
   Product: plasmashell
   Version: master
  Platform: unspecified
OS: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: grave
  Priority: NOR
 Component: Task Manager
  Assignee: h...@kde.org
  Reporter: thanosshad...@yahoo.com
CC: plasma-b...@kde.org

When a window is open, hovering the mouse pointer on the task manager allows a
pop-up preview. When the window gets minimized, you can't preview it anymore.
That renders this feature 50% useless because during an everyday work with your
computer, with many active windows, you can't be sure they will all be
maximized. They may be minimized. And then, you can't preview them.

Please consider this bug because it is a simple feature that all advanced
desktop environments have from cinnamon to windows 10.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1.Open firefox
2.Hover your mouse on the task manager, where the firefox task is
3.Notice you can view the preview of the firefox window
4.Minimize firefox
5.Repeat step 2.
6.Notice that you cannot preview firefox anymore. (you can, in ALL other
desktop environments)

[krita] [Bug 363799] New: Krita's brush strokes delay mouse/cursor at the end of each stroke

2016-06-01 Thread Akiko via KDE Bugzilla
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=363799

Bug ID: 363799
Summary: Krita's brush strokes delay mouse/cursor at the end of
each stroke
   Product: krita
   Version: 3.0
  Platform: MS Windows
   URL: https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B5K71t2YUxRFbGZ2RVBaV
HBaOW8/view
OS: MS Windows
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
  Assignee: krita-bugs-n...@kde.org
  Reporter: akikos...@yahoo.com

Whenever opening a canvas of any size, and drawing a stroke, using any brush,
at the end of each of my strokes, my brush cursor stops and gets delayed (like
in the video attached), everything else that I have tried using (like ruler
tool, shape tools, bucket ect.) works fine apart from when I try to draw. This
makes drawing slow and very annoying, I can deal with it, but it doesn't take
much time for me to just give up.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1.Open Krita
2.Create Canvas
3.Pick any brush and draw

Actual Results:
Brush cursor is delayed for a few seconds after each stroke I draw.

Expected Results:
My cursor should not stop after each stroke I draw, instead it should follow
where I map my tablets pen instantly, it also happens with a mouse so the brush
cursor should move when I move my mouse.

Hello,

thank you for your comment.

QOAuth is no option anymore because it's not working properly. Using kQOAuth
could be also problematic because it support only HTTP POST and not HTTP PUT.
The API description is unclear in this point.

So o2 is an interesting option because it does only OAuth and the other stuff
is done directly with QNetworkAccessManager.

But I don't understand how I could use KIO::KJob. Some example resource would
be helpful. But for this I'll write a mail soon.

[KScreen] [Bug 346961] Multi Monitor configuration lost on reboot, must reconfigure after startup

2016-06-01 Thread Sebastian Kügler via KDE Bugzilla
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=346961

Git commit 17199d32f292f7c44eb8cdce5b35396d3bd19eb8 by Sebastian Kügler.
Committed on 01/06/2016 at 14:55.
Pushed by sebas into branch 'master'.

address race condition around setoperation

Summary:
Use a timer to avoid catching configChanged signals after we set
changes.

The long version:

TL;DR: We have a race condition when the kscreen daemon starts. It looks
up a known config, then applies it and subsequently resaves the config.
The same happens on config changes, it writes, then re-reads and then
re-writes the config change.
I've managed to prevent this from happening by adding a timer that does
avoids saving the config as a direct reaction to our own config changes.

So what happens on kded5 startup after loading the kscreen2 module:

- the kscreen config is requested and received
- the kscreen daemon (KD) looks into its config directory for a suitable
  config file
(a config file is identified by a combined hash of all screen
attached, so unique per connected set of outputs)
- KD usually finds a config
- KD ignores configChanged events before it starts ...
- a KScreen::SetConfigOperation to apply the "known config"
- SetConfigOperation returns after a while (say 100ms later)
- we re-enable the change monitor
- we receive a configChanged signal
- we save the new config (usually to the existing config file)

I don't think this behavior is desirable. I don't see a reason why the
daemon should save its config right after applying it. I think this
causes more problems than we want, since the startup may overwrite the
user's config. This behavior seems to be desired by the code in KD, it's
already blocking configChanged signals during the SetOperation (which,
to be honest may result in nightmarish behavior in any way, so it might
be a kludge which aims too short).

>From libkscreen perspective, SetConfigOperation::finished cannot
guarantee that all configChanged signals are already fired and that it's
safe to watch for new, independent changes now. At least on X11, we
simply don't know, and what we can do is wait a bit and cross fingers
that we're not catching our own noise. The changed signal *may* come
from a re-request of the edid information, but this is a bit hard to
track down, and not too useful, anyway, since changed Edid may affect a
large number of a screen's properties.
In the Wayland backend, that's a different story and we can prevent this
behavior at an earlier stage, so this timer is "probably not needed" (I
haven't tested that).

This effectively prevents KD from catching reactions to its own changes
and does not trigger saving the config file on every login. It still
reacts to changes from libkscreen, but will avoid re-saving the config a
few times. The timer may not be the neatest of solutions for this, but
it does help narrowing down the problem and may be a last resort action.
Most importantly, it avoids the re-writing of the config on startup and
plugging/unplugging a monitor effectively.

The timer value of 100ms is also used in kwin, which should make the
behavior (which is no problem in kwin) more solid.

Hi,

o2 (https://github.com/pipacs/o2) looks good as well, supports OAuth1 and seems
to be still maintained.

>From my own experience with writing Akonadi resources, you should consider
using KIO's KJob instead of directly using QNetworkAccessManager: KIO gives you
integration with KDE proxy settings, certificate chain and other goodies, and
the design pattern of KJobs is well-suited for the ResourceBase API, as it
enforces statelessness (is that a word?), which is a good way to prevent
unexpected and hard-to-debug issues in the resources.

Feel free to talk to us on kde-pim mailinglist or #kontact IRC channel if you
need any help or have some questions regarding Akonadi (our tutorials and
manuals are slightly outdated, so you might get in trouble even if you follow
them...)

I've experienced this bug ONLY in an upgraded opensuse leap -> tumbleweed.
I've just installed opensuse tumbleweed on another virtual machine (no upgrade
from leap, just a clean install) and I cannot reproduce the bug anymore.

Anyway, I still have both virtual machines so, if do not think that this bug
it's only a side-effect of the opensuse distro-upgrade process, I can
investigate deeply and give more infos.

To answer your question: to reproduce this bug (in the upgraded opensuse)
simply change 5-10 times titlebar's button layout and SystemManager will crash.

[Discover] [Bug 363795] New: check for updates in main panel

2016-06-01 Thread apache via KDE Bugzilla
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=363795

Bug ID: 363795
Summary: check for updates in main panel
   Product: Discover
   Version: unspecified
  Platform: Neon Packages
OS: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: wishlist
  Priority: NOR
 Component: Updater
  Assignee: aleix...@kde.org
  Reporter: sabayo...@gmail.com

Does "check for updates" is really an advanced feature that needs to be hidden
in menu? I think it is a basic feature for everyday use (when someone doesn't
like to be bothered by notifications and prefers to check for updates at
his/her convenient time). I wish it can be as button on the main upper panel,
next to Discover button. Especially when Discover is used as the only
application for package management.

I can confirm this happens in 3.0 on both Win 7 64-bit SP1 and Linux Mint 17
LTS.

The issue can be avoided by explicitly adding the file extension when entering
the file name. For example, if you type 'test_01.kra' in the name field the
extra dot will not be added.

Also this problem is not limited to just image files. I've experienced the same
issue when saving painting assistants.

[plasmashell] [Bug 362702] Trying to add a new widget to the desktop leads to an empty desktop with default settings.

2016-06-01 Thread Rouphen via KDE Bugzilla
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=362702

Well, that is what I'm suspecting. Possibly, a part of the widget management
triggers the switch by its own. A couple of days ago, for example, I was trying
different wallpapers just for the sake of customization, minimizing the windows
in order to look the desktop without obstacles and then restoring them back
quickly... and it started to shift between my current settings and the Plasma
defaults like crazy, especially while I was clicking the taskbar, navigating
trough the wallpaper picker or just selecting a random icon placed in the
desktop.

Obviously, it's not a game breaker bug, but it's a little bit annoying; I think
it twice before adding any widget now.

2016-06-01 Thread Antonio Orefice via KDE Bugzilla

Bug ID: 363794

Dolphin scales 22x22 sized icon file file to bigger sizes even if bigger sized
icon files are specified in the theme file, (ex: breeze)

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. open dolphin and display some icons in the lowest possible size
2. scale them up using the dolphin silder to the max

Actual Results:
The same 22x22 svg icon size is shown even for the bigger sizes.

Expected Results:
Dolphin to pick a bigger sized file, as described in the .index theme file.

Maybe a video is clearer then my words:
dolphin q4 scaling icons, notice that the displayed image changes.
This means the picked icon image changes according to the icon size requested,
which imho, is the right thing to do:
http://wpage.unina.it/aorefice/sharevar … in-qt4.ogv

dolphin qt5 scaling icons, notice that it always pick up the same file and
scales it:
http://wpage.unina.it/aorefice/sharevar … in-qt5.ogv

According to

---
When type is "Scalable":
MinSize:Specifies the minimum size that the icons in this directory can be
scaled to. Defaults to the value of Size if not present.

In KDE4 Kickoff has the ability to resize (by catching the corner with a mouse
and resize). It is very useful. Please bring it to Plasma 5.
Example
http://i.imgur.com/IHj89kf.png

As you can see when fonts are bigger some names don't fit: "Applicatio" .
Besides when I have plenty of space on monitor I don't want to be forced to
scroll. Resizing really is useful because it makes it easier to use Kickoff and
make it quicker to start an application.

Couple things - multiple issues should always go into separate reports, there's
no sensible way to handle them in a single report. That said, in 5.7 holidays
are marked, today is highlighted, ability to copy date and you can skip dates
by month/year/decade. In other words, everything from your list.

As you can see colour of digital clock matches theme text but not the rest of
panel colour. Anyway I don't want to change theme colour just because of clock
colour because this would probably change text colour in places where it is not
wanted like in menu.

Steve,

Apper is just a frontend to get packages that your distribution provides
(openSUSE). The new Kaffeine version is at the KDE upstream tree and was
released on Monday. It will take a while until the distributions update it,
and, depending on the distribution policies, it may require you to upgrade to a
newer version.

You may try to open a ticket at the SUSE's bugzilla reporting the issue there,
or you may try to compile it yourself from the sources. I can't help you much
with SUSE, as I'm currently don't have it installed on my machines.

The Kaffeine version you're using is too old. It still uses libxine backend to
play audio/video. We moved to libVLC sometime ago (version 1.3.x), and we just
released upstream a version 2.0.1, with is based on KDE5. So, lots of change
too. Could you please test the upstream version and see if it works? The README

Actually now that you mention it the brush preview outline is indeed also
affected. On the Surface it's black, on the desktop (which uses an NVidia GPU)
it's green. So this does look to be related, and not just on AMD cards.

That's said, I don't use FreeBSD, nor I have any machine with it installed to
test. I don't even know if Kaffeine still builds on FreeBSD. So, if you're
still experiencing problems, I suspect you'll need to fix it yourself and send
me the fixup patch, in order to fix it upstream.
