[lazarus] Dialogs have disappeared from last svn's
Since a few updates a lot of dialogs fails to show on IDE. Project and compiler options (both old style and new style), Package dialogs, Tools-Configure build Lazarus, Environment and Editor options Debugger Options, Code Templates, fail to open. CodeTools Options and Codetools define work properly. The window list however lists some dialog windows as existing, even if they don't show. Last svn revision known to work was 13626. Platform is Linux, widgetset gtk1, fpc 2.0.4 and 2.2.0 (no difference). Giuliano -- Giuliano Colla Whenever people agree with me, I always feel I must be wrong (O. [lazarus] [patch] FPCunit Console Test Runner
Hi, I attached a patch which makes 'FormatParam' a property of TTestRunner instead of a variable defined in the implementation section. This changes allows users to create descendant TTestRunner classes and override the values of FormatParam, StyleSheet, ShowProcess etc... Or give them preferred default values, if nothing was specified from the command line. PS: Shouldn't we move ConsoleTestRunner to FPC instead of having it defined in Lazarus? [lazarus] PlotPanel component exits with SIGSEGV exception
Hi all, I have used my PlotPanel component for a long time with Lazarus and Delphi. Recently I discovered that in the latest version (0.9.24) the TryPlotPanel program will compile without problems, but on starting execution it fails with an External SIGSEGV error. I tried to make a backtrace with gdb, but that doesn't give me any clue about what happened. Does any user of PlotPanel know what went wrong or what was changed in Lazarus version 0.9.24 compared with 0.9.22 that might cause this error? Thanks, Marien

[lazarus] CPU usage and desktop window Z-order in WinXP
First, thanks for all the efforts put into Lazarus and FPC. I am a long-time Delphi user that began using Lazarus to write a command line application for Linux. Bit by bit I am figuring out the multitude of differences from Delphi. I have not tried compiling a Linux binary yet. Development environment: Lazarus 0.9.24 on WinXP pro SP2 I am encountering some strange behaviour, two of which are: 1. When editing source code Lazarus CPU usage frequently goes to 100%. I have tried to pinpoint the trigger but not sure yet. Seems more likely in a source file with conditional directives ala {$IFDEF FPC} etc. Usually saving the editor file will bring CPU usage back to normal. Sometimes if the window is maximized CPU usage does not go back to normal until the window is restored down. This is not a show-stopper, and I would hardly notice it except for my CPU fan keeps accelerating to full speed while I work in Lazarus! 2. Lazarus seems to do strange things with the Z-order of application windows on my desktop. I often flip between windows using Alt-TAB, but Lazarus seems to throw the Z-order into an unpredictable shuffle. Again, not a show-stopper, but I have never seen one application mess with the Z-order of other applications this way! Any advice, apart from Live with it or fix it yourself? Thanks!

[lazarus] google android contest
I want to participate in the google android contest. I want to argue to google that the lazarus object pascal platform is a better choice than Java. I use the gentoo benchmark as a means make a case of it see http://shootout.alioth.debian.org/gp4/ In this benchmark game :-) you can find interesting things in the regex-dna benchmark. In this benchmark Java has as ranking of 4 and free pascal a ranking of 6. the cputime of Java is 3.26 seconds, Free Pascal takes 4.37 seconds. But the the memory usage of Java is 50.736 Kb, Free Pascal 11.436 Kb. So Free Pascal is much more memory efficient. But of you look further on this benchmark then you see a very interesting alternative program :: Free Pascal #3 ! this Free Pascal Program uses 1.10 seconds and uses 19.604 Kb of memory. So in this benchmark you can see that Free Pascal is much better than Java. But this Free Pascal #3 is more complex than the original program. Optimization is a complex process. To reduce this complexity we have to reverse enginer both programs. The steps I want to follow is : Document the program with Fpdoc. and my goal is to produce UML documentation. The Ecliopse Ide has plugins to accomplish this goal , for example there is a hypermodel plugin. In UML you can document Software Programs very well. And the complex optimization process becomes much clearer Regards Wim _ To unsubscribe: mail [EMAIL PROTECTED] with unsubscribe as the Subject archives at http://www.lazarus.freepascal.org/mailarchives

It's a Tablet PC GIS data capture application (Win32) which I am hoping I will be able to compile for PDA's as well. I used to write this sort of application in Delphi, but I have decided to migrate to FPC/Lazarus as I feel it is heading in the right direction whilst Delphi is turning into Pascal for DotNet! I was hoping to use TCanvas as a means of producing a truly portable code base, but I have had to fall back on Win API code for the mapping, which obviously means I would have to maintain separate sources to support Linux/Mac targets. On the bright side, I simply couldn't do this in Delphi anyway!
