[LegacyUG] Unstable links to master source images

2015-03-11 Thread Priscilla Glasow
I link a master source, including an image of the source document, to an
event.

When I go back to the assigned source list, I find that the link to the
source image is no longer working in some cases.

Any thoughts?

Thanks!
Priscilla

Re: [LegacyUG] Problem with Sharing a Marriage Event

2015-03-11 Thread Brian/Support
I have tested this and confirmed this is a problem but it affects only
the display in the Event Name column of the name list Sources tab, there
is no data corruption. The name list is not selecting the correct
marriage details to display as the Event Name on the sources tab only.
On the Event Tab you will see that the correct marriage is identified.

In my testing the Event column seemed to use the name associated with
RIN (person ID number) 1 in the file. The correct source was listed in
the Name of source column and the correct details were in the details
column.

You should be safe continuing to enter the shared marriages and linking
them to the sources for those marriages. I have submitted a problem
report to have this display error fixed.

 Hi List

I've noticed something perculiar with my database and wondered if anyone
else has had this problem and if they've managed to resolve it.

I've been sharing marriage events with fathers and witnesses in my
file. When I look at the sources for that event in the name index, the
event is noted as Marr: Jane Elizabeth Lambert (that's me!), for every
single time that I've shared any marriage events.

 So for example:

Florence Annie Lambert married Peter Murray Hughes in 1923. I shared
the marriage event with her father and looking at the sources for him
(Alfred John Lambert) in the name index there is an event entitled
Marr: Jane Elizabeth Lambert, yet the source details etc are for the
 Hughes-Lambert marriage.

I've checked the events list and I don't appear to have changed any of
 the base events.

Can anyone help as I'm reluctant to keep inputting information which
contains this problem. I have shared other events eg census and this
problem doesn't appear. Is it something I've changed in the set up,
perhaps? I have run file maintenance and no problems have been highlighted.

 Many thanks.

 Jane

It is working for me with the file in the users path along with the

the Geo DB buttons on the Master location list or when editing a

Re: [LegacyUG] GeoExtraCodes-Alt.txt broken

2015-03-11 Thread Mark Wilson
Thank you, Brian, for your response! I've tried everything that I can
think of, but, for some reason, the GeoExtraCodes-Alt.txt file is still
not being read.

From the Master Location list, I select a location, then click on the
Geo Options Menu button, and then click on Geo Location List. Let's
say I have selected the location, Kemp, Kaufman County, Texas, United
States from the Master Location list... When the Geo Location List
opens, it reads Kemp, Kaufman, Texas, United States. The word,
County, is missing.

I can select any Individual's Information record for editing, click on
any of the location fields' Show Geo Location List buttons with the
same results. It doesn't matter whether I have the word, County,
already in the location, or not. It doesn't matter when searching the
Geo Location Database. The word, County, never does not appear in the
Core or Core+ results.

The customized GeoExtraCodes-Alt.txt file and the original
GeoExtraCodes.txt file are both in the directory

  C:\Users\Mark Wilson\Documents\Legacy Family
Tree\_AppData\Misc

The modification to the GeoExtraCodes-Alt.txt file is

USA|111| County
United States|111| County

Thank you!

Hi Judy

The extra comment from Michele would be what you are looking for. The ability
to ‘save’ and ‘load’ report parameters. This feature allows you to set up a
particular report format and save it with a unique file name as you wish. With
the load feature, you would be able to load up the same choices at a later
date, and if wondering what the report was to include, would allow you to go
thru the various setting/choices of that report settings. At any time you
wanted to review them.

I use this feature a lot myself for the variety of reports I make for the many
relatives. Some settings I have are set for a ‘default’ type of report I would
want, others I can use as a ‘template’ and make changes as I would like for a
one time report. If you don’t save the changes to a report, no changes made.
Call back up the original parameter file and ‘that’ report default settings are
reloaded.

Exactly what Larry said :)

One added thing. You can save your report settings AND you can even save
multiple sets of report settings. The way you name these sets of settings will
give you a clue as to what the settings are.

Hi Judy,

AFAIK, there is no way to do that currently. You might want to submit a
suggestion for that feature from the Legacy home tab.

The only way I can think of would be to take screenshots of each page of your
settings and save them into OneNote, Evernote or a pdf file.

[LegacyUG] Birth wording on Descendant Narrative Report

When I generate a Descendant Narrative Report the wording after a
person's name and before the birth date keeps coming up with ...was
born from instead of ...was born on. I can't see in any of the

prefix on and it still comes up with from and I have set the wording
not to show anything and it still comes up with from. Can some kine
