Silly question, but have you tried leaving it on the charger for an
hour or so? I've seen quite a few questions with similar problems and
unless you've loaded some new packages recently (And it doesn't sound
like you have) this is probably due to a low battery.

Unfortunately it doesnt seem to be so easy. Because once you hook the
unit up to the PSU it also boots into some kind of charging display.
With my unit, this fails, too.
So it keeps doing endless reboot cycles once I apply external power. I
am afraid if I did that for extended amounts of time, it would do no
good to the backlight which goes on an off all the time.

Hi,
the backlight is provided by LEDs so it shouldn't suffer much from being
switched continuously.

About the cycling: hard to say anything without logs, but if reflashing
doesn't work (meaning that you cannot even reflash a full image),
chances are that the bootloader got corrupted and probably only
cold-flashing will do.

That's something the service points can do, or you can do it yourself
with one of the unofficial cables that you can find on the net (either
schematics or seller).

Of course it is very likely to void your warranty, so i strongly advice
to check with customer service about it.

At least in IT2006 it looks like when the boot reason is 'charger' it
boots into rootfs so the X server and all the stuff is preloaded and
later 'poweron' is quick. The difference between charger wakeup and
power button seems to be somewhere near the end of boot sequence before
the desktop shows. So if rootfs is corrupted it reboots even when
connecting charger.

Jfyi: I reflashed rootfs now and the device boots again.
I hope this wont happen again.

Thanks to everyone who gave advice.
