downloads that afterwards turn out to be duplicates. Thanks if it can be

maybe some day i will add some versioning to that, but currently i don't have
that (manuals don't change that often, mostly new files are added)

you can use texsync to sync the documentation tree [uses rsync] and then you
only update the changes [quite efficient]

[NTG-context] layers and papersize

2005-01-10 Thread Tom Fossen

This is probably a beginners question. While trying to understand the
layer-mechanism I made a drawing which is meant as a background for a
schedule in a magazine. I add the information within this drawing using the
'register' option I found on page 263 of the Metafun manual.

Here is the example in a minimal form:

\starttext
\definelayer[rooster]
\startuseMPgraphic{list}
path p, s ;
p := unitsquare  scaled 3cm superellipsed 0.84 ;
s := flex ((2.5cm,3.0cm), (10.0cm,3.0cm), (6.5cm,-0.5cm)) ;
draw p withpen pencircle scaled 5pt withcolor .625white ;
draw s withpen pencircle scaled 3pt withcolor .625white ;
register (da,2.4cm,2.4cm,(.3cm,2.8cm)) ;
register (name,5.6cm,0.6cm,(5.4cm,3.5cm)) ;
register (who,6cm,3cm,(3.4cm,2.8cm)) ;
register(color,1.5cm,0.5cm,(7.6cm,-0.6cm)) ;
\stopuseMPgraphic

\setMPlayer[rooster][da]{\framed
[width=\MPlayerwidth,height=\MPlayerheight,align=right] {pos 1}}
\setPlayer[rooster][name]{\framed
[ [width=\MPlayerwidth,height=\MPlayerheight] {pos 2}}
\setMPlayer[rooster][who]{\framed
[width=\MPlayerwidth,height=\MPlayerheight,align=right] {pos 3}}
\setMPlayer[rooster][color]{\framed
[width=\MPlayerwidth,height=\MPlayerheight] {pos 4}}

\getMPlayer[rooster] {\useMPgraphic{list}}
\stoptext

This works for the standard papersize. But I want this to work in a magazine
on A5. So I add:

\setuppapersize [A5][A4]
\setuparranging [2UP,rotated,doublesided]
\setuppagenumbering[alternative=doublesided]
\setuplayout[margin=0pt,width=middle]

followed by the fragment above.

But now all of the texts (pos x) end up somewhere in the left corner of the
page. Only the drawing is on its right place. I tried to experiment with
adding 'position= on' or 'off' to the 'definelayer' command. No difference.

Where are the misunderstandings on my side?

[NTG-context] OmniOutlinerConTeXt Export plugin available

2005-01-10 Thread Adam Lindsay
[apologies for the cross-post.]
Hi all,

My export plugin for OmniOutliner is now available for use with both
OmniOutliner Professional and Standard:
  http://oo2contml.sourceforge.net/

It exports structural markup to an XML file that's able to be processed
directly by the ConTeXt TeX macro package. (That is to say, you can
simply type this at the command line:
  texexec --pdf MyOutline.xml
...and you get a pdf.)

There's a lot of documentation (but basic operation is really simple).
Omni's support people have asked that I take plugin support questions off
the OO-Users list, so there's a support mailing list at the above link as
well.

I'm also soliciting feedback on further directions for this plugin. I can
imagine three possible directions:
1) Output in ConTeXt's TeX syntax,
2) Output a simplified structural XHTML (OO3's current offerings, while
gorgeous, are not so easy for hacking up a basic web page for use with
your own CSS),
3) Input the ConTeXt-XML format for basic round-tripping from Outline to
ConTeXt to Outline.

[NTG-context] Problem with backgrounds and page breaks

2005-01-10 Thread Matthias Weber
Hello,
when using text background colors in enumerations, I run into a problem
whenever the enumeration appears on the beginning of a page: Then,
the background extends over some part (sometimes all) of the previous
page.

I can manually correct this by putting a \break just before the
enumeration, but this
is a little tedious, as I am frequently reformatting the document.
Below is a small example.

Thanks for any help!

Re: [NTG-context] m-letter.tex -- backslash interpretation error

2005-01-10 Thread Rob Ermers
Hans,
thanks for your reaction! Here is the minimal example:
1. brief-test.tex is the letter.
2. brief-inhoud-test is the letter content.
3. test-data.xml contains some addresses
The problem is that any backslash in the letter content is changed into
`` in the pdf file. In the reference I also put a backslash (after the
item concerns), but this one survives.

To get that result I use:
\startsetups[letter:content]
\input brief-inhoud-test.tex
\stopsetups
If I use
\startbuffer[texletter]
\input brief-inhoud-test.tex
\stopbuffer
the content is not loaded into the letter at all; the result is then
``input brief-inhoud-test.tex instead of the content of the file.

The encoding problem with \ is described in one of your manuals, but I
really don't know where to repair it.

A second problem is that the first address slides down to the content
much more than it should. I tried to circumvent that by inserting a
dummy address.

Thanks in advance,
Robert Ermers

Ah, I invoked Latin Modern because (since Jacko seems to have been behind
helping out with the release) the TeX release of Antykwa Torunska
provides the same sort of cork-* files as lm.

Anyway, I started in with some test typescripts that treat [ec/cork]

I would imagine that ConTeXt must be able to sort a norwegian words in a
separate register say \indexnw{kr{\o}ypa}} differently from the
english index entries in general \index{} register.
hm, this should be doable, if this is important, i can look into it (time to
sort out the index mess)

Re: [NTG-context] m-letter.tex -- backslash interpretation error

2005-01-10 Thread Rob Ermers
Hans,
Thanks for your quick reply. I adapted the file, according to your
suggestion. The letter now comes out right! Thank you for that. I
immediately tried an items list, which also works!

Still, if there is any \ code in the xml file, it does not seem to work.
Changing \e to in Drie\eenheid makes the disappear.
contact ...
...
pLaan der Drie\eenheid/p
...
/contact
comes out as:
...
Laan der Drieeenheid
...
I also found out that \usemodule[m-letter] works much better than
\usemodule[letter], which is not evident from the way is Context set up.

Thanks again,
Robert

Re: [NTG-context] Problem with backgrounds and page breaks

2005-01-10 Thread Matthias Weber
Thanks, that brings it down to two problematic cases in a 400 page
document,
and I can live with that.

Thanks, Hans, this fixes it most of the time. But the problem still

in your case the testpage should test for 3 lines, because you have
5pt margin +  a blank before it

\testpage[3]
actually the best solution is when i start introducing special
background options (no time for that now, o for the moment use the
testpage); that way i can hook it in the righ tplace
