No problem. First, to make mistakes is human. Secondly, we now have (as
comment) the labels which help (at least non-native speakers) to find
them if one needs them.

Hans wrote:

 can you try (test extensively):

 \def\dodoregister[#1]#2#3%

Well, it has some problems, introducing vertical space in certain
circumstances. Will try to work up a minimal, but two observations:

1. The extra vertical space tends to happen immediately before headings,
which is probably immediately after a \par, suggesting that if we're
already in vertical mode there is something creating a horizontal mode
object here.

2. If I use \dontleavehmode\index{blah} in material that immediately
follows a heading, and just \index{blah} everywhere else, everything
appears to work well with no white-space issues and no headings at the
bottom of the page.

(I can only do 2. easily because I'm generating my code from XML, not
writing directly in ConTeXt, so it's easy to put in a rule that makes
the index tag behave differently in different contexts. It's probably
not a solution for anyone else.)

[NTG-context] bibmodule + project

2005-12-14 Thread Thomas A. Schmitz

Hi all,

a question for the many happy users of Taco's bibmodule: I'm in the
process of splitting a larger project into several components. What I
have is:

transl.tex -- main project file
environment.tex -- environment for all components
products.tex -- list of components
component1.tex
component2.tex
.
.
.

Index, TOC etc. seem to be working very well, but I can't get the
bibliographic references right when compiling. Where should the call
to bibmodule reside, and how can I run bibtex on such a project?

Thanks

Re: [NTG-context] bibmodule + project

2005-12-14 Thread Taco Hoekwater

Hi Thomas,

The beta has some code to deal with use of multiple bibliographies
withing projects/products, the current one in the distribution does
not.

The beta is on my website, linked from :
http://wiki.contextgarden.net/User::Taco/Bib

The mailing list thread about 'multiple bibs' is here:
http://archive.contextgarden.net/message/20051003.000309.57881f41.en.html

Biggest problem: I am not sure what the desired/correct functionality
would be.

If I understand your case correctly (with many components of a single
product, and a unified bibliography at the end of the full product),

then you probably should do the setupbibtex only in the product file
(and creating products.bbl); and execute only
\usepublications[products] in each component.

But that's guesswork, not prescription, and not a reliable advice. If
can give me and exact description of your wishes, then I can create a
new beta with your desires in mind.

Cheers,

Taco

[NTG-context] extra nattab split in columns

Hi,

there occurs extra page break when natural tables is in the columns:

Into:

  TEXMFPROJECT = $SELFAUTOPARENT/texmf-project

Without that modification, the directory texmf-project is not included in

many ?? when typesetting single components, but now it appears to
work. More about this book project soon. (I'm negotiating with my
publisher, Blackwell. They want it typeset professionally, and I'm
trying to convince them that typesetting doesn't get any more
professional than that...).

Hi Thomas,

Biggest problem: I am not sure what the desired/correct functionality
would be.

If I understand your case correctly (with many components of a
single product, and a unified bibliography at the end of the full
product),

then you probably should do the setupbibtex only in the product file
(and creating products.bbl); and execute only \usepublications
[products] in each component.

But that's guesswork, not prescription, and not a reliable advice. If
can give me and exact description of your wishes, then I can create a
new beta with your desires in mind.

Cheers,

Taco

Hi all,
a question for the many happy users of Taco's bibmodule: I'm in
the process of splitting a larger project into several
components. What I have is:

transl.tex -- main project file
environment.tex -- environment for all components
products.tex -- list of components
component1.tex
component2.tex
.
.
.
Index, TOC etc. seem to be working very well, but I can't get the
bibliographic references right when compiling. Where should the
call to bibmodule reside, and how can I run bibtex on such a
project?

Thanks
Thomas

chinese is not yet defined in utf so if you want that, we need to do it

We probably should.

question: do the unicode tables cover gbk and big 5 well?

There exists a one-to-one correspondence between GBK and Unicode [1],
for Big5 there are 7 characters which cannot be mapped one-to-one (see
comment at top of [2]); thee of which appear twice in Big5 but only
once in Unicode, two are not in unicode and there are two mapping
problems.

In practive one can thus say: Both GBK and Big5 can be mapped to Unicode.

so, if we can make things utf deep down and remap gbk and big 5 to utf,
we can do with one set of fonts, metrics etc

i got chinese working in utf now, but need an enco table for teh special
cases (see enco-chi); when someone made me that table, i can upload an
alpha

[NTG-context] \totalnumberofpages and \setuparranging [2UP]

2005-12-14 Thread John Magolske

Hi all,

I'm having trouble getting \totalnumberofpages to display while using
\setuparranging [2UP].

What I'd like to do is print a letter, two columns to a page, then
cut the page in two so the letter is in long columns with fractional
page numbering at the bottom of each column, 1/4, 2/4, 3/4, 4/4. But
what's happening is 1/1, 2/2, 3/3, 4/4.

\definepapersize[4.25x11][width=4.25in,height=11in]
\setuppapersize [4.25x11][letter]
\setuplayout[backspace=.75in, width=2.75in,
topspace=.75in, top=0in,
header=0in, footer=.5in, height=9.75in]
\setuppagenumbering[location={footer,right},right={~/~}{\lastpage}]
\setuparranging [2UP]

Removing \setuparranging [2UP] allows \totalnumberofpages to work
fine, and upon replacing it, the first run works. But subsequent runs
revert back to 1/1, 2/2, etc. This is using the texexec --pdf
command.

I read through the thread \totalnumberofpages texexec
--pages=1:2, but being new to ConTeXt, I can't quite make out if
that's relevant.

Any suggestions much appreciated.

- John
