[nysbirds-l] Shearwaters at Camp Hero, Suffolk County
This morning between 9:30 and 11 am I would estimate 300 Shearwaters were flying back and forth, feeding and landing on the ocean. They were mostly in two flocks with the western flock consisting of Cory's while the eastern flock was mostly Sooty. With the Sooty flock I picked out at least one Greater. Also present were many terns including 4 Black Terns. [nysbirds-l] Central Park, NYC 6/6
Monday, 6 June, 2016 Central Park, Manhattan, N.Y. City While yesterday's male Hooded Warbler was not seen or heard this day, a male Mourning Warbler was, at the Loch, most of the singing from this migrant being before 7 a.m. - also present as migrants were a couple of Blackpoll and 1 Magnolia Warbler, plus American Redstart, Common Yellowthroat and a good variety of species that breed, or already have nested this spring in the park. Lots of Cedar Waxwing activity all around, & the 3 regularly-breeding flycatchers each seen on territories: Great Crested Flycatcher, E. Kingbird, & E. Wood-Pewee. A quiet walk was key to noticing some of the above. good birding, Tom Fiore Manhattan -- NYSbirds-L List Info: http://www.NortheastBirding.com/NYSbirdsWELCOME http://www.NortheastBirding.com/NYSbirdsRULES http://www.NortheastBirding.com/NYSbirdsSubscribeConfigurationLeave.htm ARCHIVES: 1) http://www.mail-archive.com/nysbirds-l@cornell.edu/maillist.html 2) http://www.surfbirds.com/birdingmail/Group/NYSBirds-L 3) http://birdingonthe.net/mailinglists/NYSB.html Please submit your observations to eBird: http://ebird.org/content/ebird/ --
