I'd certainly upgrade to 8.1 if you're serious about recording and you
already have Total Recorder Pro, I don't think v6 had Time Shifting or cue
editing for example, cue editing is an extremely powerful tool which
brings Total Recorder into the world of very nice little pieces of audio
editing software as well as the best audio/video recorder - not to mention
probably one of the most accessible audio/video recorders - on the market.

The differences between versions? I don't think the standard version
offers much in the way of editing capabilities if any and it certainly
doesn't have much in the way of scheduling and capabilities for recording
off the Internet. The developer edition is exactly that, for developers
who want to develop extra plug-ins, put total recorder into software
packages they write and so on, that's how I understand it anyway. A full
comparison chart of Total Recorder versions can be found at

Fwd: Clisk, the Command Line Interface for Skype

2010-03-08 Thread Steve Pattison
 From:Doug Lee d...@dlee.org
To: NFBnet GUI Talk Mailing List gui-t...@nfbnet.org

This has been out there for a while, but I haven't really announced it
here I don't think. Anyone who doesn't like command lines can
probably safely skip this message. Anybody like me, though, who uses
them often, read on.

I have been developing, and occasionally posting updates on my web
site for, a utility I call Clisk, which stands for the Command Line
Interface for Skype. I just released version 2.1.0, which is capable
of most Skype tasks, including listing and maintaining your contact
list, sending and receiving chat lines (though the UI is probably
better for that most of the time), handling contact detail requests,
making and managing calls and conferences, and handling voicemails.
Details, an online manual, and a download link can be found at
http://www.dlee.org/clisk/

For new users, I recommend the online manual, and once you get Clisk
running, the help or ? command. The release notes for the various
Clisk releases will probably be confusing if read first.

well, I probably agree with you, however the VR Stream is localized in
many languages where the book sense is only sold in the US and Canada.

so for us in Europe, we have less choice as far as concerned.

you are absolutly right, I didn't know about this when I wrote my reply.
but yes, you can have itunes automatically delete listened podcasts

my answers :

1. no , it 's not possible to delete tracks directly from a ipod, you
need to use itunes or an alternative software such as copy trans

same for podcasts
which, in my view, is very frustrating because you have to remember
which podcast you have listened to delete old epizodes from itunes
afterward.

2. you can copy videos to your ipod, it only support m4V format, with
a specific resolution, but I think Itunes can convert video file to
the right format for that matter.

otherwize, there are 3rd party convertion tools.

your last question, the ipod do not have a camera, it's a player, so
it's not possible to record videos or photos on it, you can still
watch videos photos.

2010-03-08 Thread Dane Trethowan
total Recorder is extremely accessible, probably one of the most accessible
pieces of recording software there is for the Windows PC and as you've seen
from others, the Editor in Total Recorder Professional Edition is extremely
nice, perhaps not quite as precise as the editor in Gold Wave but it will do a
good job for most people's editing requirements and the software is only $35.00
from memory. I've said it before and I'll say it again, get Total Recorder and
Goldwave and you have a pretty good suite of audio recording and editing tools
at your fingertips for under a hundred bucks.

Howdy!

Open Total recorder and select options menu, open settings and arrow
down to Global Hotkeys, check the Enable Global Hotkeys checkbox and
you'll see a list there, you may like to modify some of these to make
things easier with your Screen Reader so they don't get in the way.

Cheers!

the reduction.
The batch processing feature has been extended as follows:

Pause reduction is supported.
Batch processing of a folder or a list of files can be launched

Improved time calculation during the background recording of VBR

Howdy!

Open Total recorder and select options menu, open settings and arrow down
to Global Hotkeys, check the Enable Global Hotkeys checkbox and you'll
see a list there, you may like to modify some of these to make things
easier with your Screen Reader so they don't get in the way.

Cheers!

Re: tweaking Skype

2010-03-08 Thread Brent Harding
I did this, seems to work better, in my opinion. It all depends on the relay
they assign you if you don't, mine would be in the UK, so more delay if I'm
talking to people in the states having to go all the way over there to come
back.

Hi!

I notice in the Advanced section of Skype there's reference to a Skype
Port number, is there any advantage in opening and mapping this port to
Skype, would I get a better connection for instance?

Greetings,

I had the same problem, go into GW and to the view menu and ensure auto
scrollock is checked, this should cure the problem.
