Re: where to find MP3 Direct Cut tutorial

2010-10-31 Thread Jeff Samco
Which type of tutorial are you looking for? I have the MP3 audio
tutorial files. I can email them to you if you wish and if they make
it through any attachment barriers. I also have two different sets of
text instructions. One came off the internet and the other I have
worked up. I will paste both of them after my name below.

HTH,
Jeff

MP3 Direct Cut is a free direct mp3 editor, splitter, cutter and recorder.
Download it from
http://www.mpesch3.de

Some brief notes regarding keyboard shortcuts for this program are as follows:

Play and Stop by using the SpaceBar.
During playback, the F8 key will increase playback speed and F7 will
decrease it.

Rewind and fast forward using cursor left and right or page-up and page-down.
The latter two keys move in larger increments than the first two.
The number of frames each pair moves can be set via the menu system.

Marking a selection for deletion, saving as a separte file, etc:
Use the letter b to mark the beginning of a selection
Use the letter n to mark the end of a selection
NotePlayback must be stopped when marking the beginning and end of a
selection by using the Spacebar.

The following commands use the numbers row above the letter keys,
not the numeric keypad on the right side of the keyboard.
These commands move by frame. One frame is about a 38th of a second:
1: Move the left margin of a selection one frame to the left
2: Move the left margin of a selection one frame to the right
3: Move the right margin of a selection one frame to the left
4: Move the right margin of a selection one frame to the right

With the following keys, one can exactly hear, where the margins of a
selection are:

F5: Plays the two seconds before the left margin of a selection
F6: Plays the first two seconds of a selection
F7: Plays the last two seconds of a selection
F8: Plays the two seconds after the right margin of a selection
F9: Plays the file around the selection as if the block had been cut out

To cut a selection one can press the delete key.
This does not touch the MP3 file.
It just modifies an MP3DirectCut index.
Therefore, cuts can be made quickly.

There are also menu options and shortcut keys to save a selection
into a different file.

For instance, Ctrl-E will save the selection with its own filename.
and Ctrl-W will save the entire audio using the current name or edit
it to something different.

To split an MP3 file, which consists of a complete album, one can use
the pause detection feature, which can be reached via the menu system.
It will set a marker before each song. These markers are actually
selections with a length of zero.
To check the markers, one can go from one to the other with Control
cursor right and Control cursor left.

The file can then be split according to the markers.
Or one can save a cue sheet file or an MP3 DirectCut project file.
Both would contain the markers.
With these marker files, one can easily find certain positions in an MP3 file.

To go to a specific time position, Control-p can be used. The edit
box is a bit strange.
Don't delete the words in it, just modify the numbers for the
current file position.
One has to leave alone the apostrophes, which separate hours minutes
and seconds.

The program needs these apostrophes

Then, there are the recording shortcuts.
r: Opens the record dialog, in which sighted people can adjust the
recording level

p: Starts the recording, when the recording dialog is open
s: Stops the recording.

My personal set of Notes.

Page Up to move back or page down to go forward in fairly large time
increments.

Use left and right arrows to move in smaller increments.
Space bar to begin and stop playback.
Ctrl F4 to close a window within MP3 Direct Cut.

Recording
Consider muting Window Eyes.
Press R to open recording screen.
Press P to begin and S to stop.
If Append is checked in the configuration window, stopping and
restarting recording will continue in the same file thus acting as a
pause function.

Marking beginning end of selection.
Press B for beginning or N for end while playback is stopped.
1 and 2 will adjust begin point B backward or forward.
3 and 4 will adjust end point N backward or forward.
These commands move by frame and are quite precise.

To listen to where the B and N marks are, use f5 and f6 to hear
before and after point B; and use f7 and f8 to hear before and after point N.
Use F9 to hear what the audio would be like if you were to delete the
currently selected segment of audio.

To append a file you must be using the older version 1.39:
Open the file to be appended to the end of another file,
Open File Menu and select Append To.
Press Shift Tab to locate file to append it to.
When desired file is found, just press Enter and it is done.
Then close this window with Ctrl F4.

press Control+A to select all, and then I believe the keystroke is
Control+D. This should open up a dialog box like a Windows explorer
window to allow selection of the file to append

Hi!

Does anyone else have one of these wonderful devices and if so do you
have the AC power adapter for same?

I'm curious, where does the adapter plug in? We cannot get them out
here

in Australia so I'm going to have to find a substitute somehow.

Does anyone know what voltage the thing is?

You can if you want to but the default manual of 50 is good enough for most
recording applications, you can raise or lower the manual level and monitor it
or you can turn the Auto Level function on which is really quite affective.

Re: Podcast feed

There's a good podcast client called Juice. It is free and you should
be able to google it for a download source.

Juice originally went by the name iPodder. I recall that Blind Cool
Tech had a tutorial for using iPodder and maybe one under the name of
Juice. Either should cover well how to operate it.

Replay AV 8 Windows 7

2010-10-31 Thread Stephen jolley
Hi All,

Going through the process of migrating from XP to 7 and struggling with
Replay AV.

I'd appreciate guidance on this. May be offline to save bothering everyone.

My issues so far:

. Don't know how to get Replay AV in the System Tray so when I hide
it it disappears. If I try to open (launch) again, nothing happens.

. The list of shows only seems to have a graphic for each entery and
I have to use the Jaws cursor to read it.

. Is there a way to turn of the UAC feature for this particular
program with out changing its normal level?

Any advice will be much appreciated.

Regards,

Stephen
