NFL field pass

2009-08-30 Thread Chris C.

Hello,
I saw a message stating that NFL field pass is not accessible this year
because they now use flash to listen to the games.
But I was just wondering if anyone else had any luck using the NFL field
pass successfully so far this year?

I hate to give up NFL field pass because I really like it.
So if anyone has learned how to use the NFL field pass this year, please let
me know.

Thanks,
Chris

RE: NFL field pass

2009-08-30 Thread Christopher Chaltain
If you heard about this on this list then I think we covered it pretty
thoroughly a few weeks ago.

It's true, the flash player that NFL Field Pass uses is totally
inaccessible. You won't see a single control in the player, so you have no
way of changing the volume, pausing the game or so on. It looks like there's
also a way to switch between games within the player as well, which also
isn't available to us.

You can still bring up the audio for a live game though; you just can't do
anything with the audio except listen to it. To bring up the audio for a
game in progress, go to nfl.com and click on the scores link. For games in
progress and future games, you'll have a listen link. You can click on that
to bring up the audio for a game that's in progress, including the pregame
show. I've listened to two of the three Dolphins preseason games this way so
far. The Dolphins last preseason game was actually televised, so I watched
it on TV instead.

I contacted nfl.com and they said they're working to make the player
accessible. They also gave me the above work around, after I'd already
figured it out for myself. Since this work around doesn't give me access to
all of the features of NFL Field Pass, I'm going to ask for some kind of a
discount or maybe free access to the archived games.

So how do you get to the games. I also am using Jaws 10 and can't seem to
get past the one line with no links. Is there a trick to this like using
the Jaws cursor and if so, where can you click to get into the games?

Thanks for any help...Paul

says

something like NFL Field Pass. No links, buttons or anything else.

I just signed up for a new season of the NFL's Field Pass. This
subscription
allows you to listen to all of the radio broadcasts via the internet of
the

upcoming NFL season (depending on the package you purchase). I noticed a
couple of changes this season.

First, it looks like it's now using an embedded flash based player, which
is
totally inaccessible. I don't see anything in the browser window at all,
but

I am able to listen to the broadcast. In years past, you've been able to
select WMP or Real, and I've been able to use the Winamp with the WMP
stream. This allowed me to control the player and do things like pause the
broadcast, lower the volume and so on. None of this seems possible in the
new player. Note that you can still navigate through the web pages to find
the stream you want to listen to, i.e. the Dolphins broadcast of the
Monday

night preseason game between the Dolphins and the Jaguars. It's just that
once you've selected the appropriate stream, you're now stuck in an
inaccessible media player.

There also doesn't seem to be the 7 day trial period that there's been in
the past. I always took advantage of this 7 day free trial to ensure
everything was accessible. This year, I had to take it on faith, and
unfortunately I was disappointed. I don't plan on asking for my money
back,

but I did follow the contact link and opened up a ticket with NFL Field
Pass.

I'm just letting everyone know my experience and wondering if anyone has
gotten around this limitation yet.

Thanks but I don't see how you could get to the link unless you signed up

Hi,

If you send me the link I can test it with System Access just to see if it
is a screen reader issue which, it likely is not, but I would like to test
it any how.

Yep, I should have said that I was using JFW 10, Windows XP and IE 8. It's
totally inaccessible. I just see one line in the browser window, which says
something like NFL Field Pass. No links, buttons or anything else.

I just signed up for a new season of the NFL's Field Pass. This subscription
allows you to listen to all of the radio broadcasts via the internet of the
upcoming NFL season (depending on the package you purchase). I noticed a
couple of changes this season.

First, it looks like it's now using an embedded flash based player, which is
totally inaccessible. I don't see anything in the browser window at all, but
I am able to listen to the broadcast. In years past, you've been able to
select WMP or Real, and I've been able to use the Winamp with the WMP
stream. This allowed me to control the player and do things like pause the
broadcast, lower the volume and so on. None of this seems possible in the
new player. Note that you can still navigate through the web pages to find
the stream you want to listen to, i.e. the Dolphins broadcast of the Monday
night preseason game between the Dolphins and the Jaguars.

I don't plan on asking for my money back,
but I did follow the contact link and opened up a ticket with NFL Field
Pass.

I'm just letting everyone know my experience and wondering if anyone has
gotten around this limitation yet.

RE: The new NFL Field Pass

2009-08-16 Thread Kelly Ford
This isn't a screen reader issue and system access has the same challenges.
This is the way the flash has been created.

For the person asking about pre-season games, my understanding is you have
to pay $25 for the archives now once the game is over.

Re: NFL field pass, which player?

2008-01-13 Thread Christopher Chaltain
I use the Windows Media Player stream and use either Windows Media
Player itself or Winamp. I do this mostly because I can control the
volume of WMP or Winamp interdependently of JAWS. I find this is
important since the volume of the different feeds can vary drastically.
I don't know how the sound compares with the Real feed, but I'd guess
the quality if effected more by the quality of the original feed than
the player you're using.

No problems, but a couple of pains.

In real player, you cannot control its volume independently.
 So
when you decrease real player's volume, you are also decreasing
your screen reader's volume unless you have a second sound card
or are using a hardware synthesizer.

Also, you cannot close Real Player with alt F4. You have to
select the close option from the file menue.

Re: NFL Field pass

2006-09-24 Thread patricknc
I don't have any problems with it. Of course, when using Field Pass, I'm
only interested in the audio, so I don't know how accessible the schedule
links and team roster links and all that is, but once you install
realplayer, it will automatically come up when you go to the link you're
interested in listening to. And I have to give the NFL credit, their audio
is excelent! Just a quick point, though. If you try to pull up a link
during the game and you don't hear anything, don't automatically assume it's
not there. They may be in commercial, and they're not allowed to have the
comercials, so they just stream silence. Also watch out for Real Message
center. That's not accessible at all and it has a tendancy to pop up at any
time.

archives or on demand feature is good to have if you can not
listen to a game live.

I have Sirius satellite radio for the home. Sirius has every NFL
game and for 7 years. No computer needed. Plus you get the NHL,
NBA and hopefully MLB soon. They also have NCAA college
football. Costs $12.95 per month. I have the Audiovox receiver
and the boombox. I hear they have come out with a product called
Streamjockey and is made by Xact Communication.

You get 65 music stations and like 55 other stations. If you
only like the music part you can get the music stations via the
Dish Network satellite service. I have Sirius mostly for the non
music stations. If you have a laptop and are away from home you
can listen to the 65 music channels only via the web.

Sirius can be found at:

2004-09-13 Thread kevin and emma
hi tim, in the end i just reinstalled real player and it now works okay.
i've a vague memory that i started listening to the miami game on saturday
and when the feed went off i got a verbal message, like it was part of the
stream saying something like, this secure link is now out of date? never had
that before. well i managed the oakland game and the minasota game yesterday
both okay so guess problem solved. thanks to those who offered their help.

2004-09-13 Thread kevin and emma
nothing is the answer. and personally as i live in the UK, mlb.com and
mlb.tv are the only real access i have to baseball. my only real problem
with mlb.tv is a lot of games broadcast the away teams feed. guess this is
something to do with copyright and the like though.

Unfortunately, I'm not in a position to afford mlbtv, and the tv
descriptions are not nearly as good as the radio descriptions. I wonder
what would happen if a bunch of us started complaining to mlb.com and
threatened not to renew next year if they didn't improve their quality.
Maybe we should all call their toll-free number, which if I remember
 correctly is 866-800-1275.

broadcast the games from most of the teams flagship stations but not all.
Sometimes you'll be able to choose from the broadcast for either team and
sometimes only one of the two teams. I guess it's also possible that a
game won't be broadcast at all because the NFL doesn't have the license to
broadcast the stream from either team's flagship station.

I understand that NFL Field Pass includes feeds of 25 of the 32 clubs.
Those not part of the program are the New England Patriots, Washington
Redskins, NY Giants, Dallas Cowboys, Baltimore Ravens, Detroit Lions, and
the San Francisco 49ers.
So, for example, with last night's Buck-Dolphin game, both teams are part
of the package; yet, I could only get the Buck feed.
In the Raider Cardinal game, I could only find the Arizona Cardinal feed.
It appears that one is given the opportunity to select a game, but not the
broadcast feed.
I am hoping that another Field Pass subscriber can confirm what I believe
to be true or tell me that I'm all whet and explain how to choose.
I'd prefer, the latter, in this instance as I would rather have the choice
in some instances.

On a related note, has anyone compiled a list of web sites where we can

Thanks for the instructions.
Now, that I have checked things out, the list of unavailable teams is down
to 6. The 49ers appeared on a list I saw in late July.

I recall hearing some of the unavailable teams last season on network
affiliates that happen to stream. We'll have to see how it works out this
season.

One station that immediately comes to mind is KVET Austin for the Cowboys.
An AM station in York, PA streamed the Ravens.
I don't recall last year ever finding anyone on the net carrying the Pats,
RedSkins, Lions, or Giants.

NFL.com - Field Pass

We'll see come Thursday evening if this link will work for preseason week
4 and thereafter into the regular season.

From what I've spotchecked both last night and archive sampling, the feeds
seem quite good. The Bear feed, for what it's worth, actually sounded
better via the archive than what I heard Friday evening on one of the

Re: NFL field pass and RP8.

2004-08-25 Thread Christopher Chaltain
I've since moved up to Real Player 10.5 for other reasons, and I'm not
sure if I'll be going back to Real Player 8 or not. I definitely would
prefer to use WinAmp to listen to the NFL games though, since I did find
out that the tara plugin doesn't work with Real Player 10.5. One annoying
thing with Real Player 10.5 is that I don't know how to control the volume
of the game broadcast independently from the volume of JFW. If anyone
knows, how to do this, I'd appreciate the information.

What I did to get NFL Field Pass working with WinAmp, Real Player 8 and
JFW was the following. First, to sign up, I went into WinAmp preferences
and made sure WinAmp was not associated with .ram files. When I clicked
on a broadcast link, I then got the screens needed to sign up for NFL
Field Pass. I went ahead and signed up for the seven day free trial to
make sure everything was working before I laid out the bucks.

After I was signed up, I had to do the following. I went into my Windows
startup configuration and made sure no Real Player processes were being
started automatically. These got added when Real Player was started up
after the previous step where I signed up for NFL Field Pass. I then went
into WinAmp and reassociated it with .ram files.

Then when I clicked on a broadcast link, I got the IE dialog asking me if
I wanted to save or open the file. If I choose open, the game would start
streaming through WinAmp.

Let me know if you have any question. I may not be able to play around
much, unless I end up going back to Real Player 8 myself.

a problem with NFL field pass

Hello,

Unfortunately, I am not able to get it to work at all on my 98 S E machine

On the malfunctioning machine which is running Window Eyes 4.5 Sp4, I go to

no audio is heard through real Player. If there is an error message, Window
Eyes is not verbalizing it. I hope to get someone to look at the screen
before I call Real's tech support. Does anyone have any ideas?

Thanks.
