Re: Anyone use a Zoom H6 for audio recording

2017-01-31 Thread Dane Trethowan
We're talking standard PCM wave files, the type you'd edit with your PC,
having said that there are various standards of Wave files and the 24/96
type might be different but in any case the Zoom H6 - given that the SD
card is formatted to FAT 32 - is going to have to split the file -
whether that file format be Wave or anything else - at some point, using
FAT32 a single file can be no longer than 4GB.

Its quite possible of course that some recorders might use NTFS format
but this is not the default for SD Cards and I doubt whether the Zoom H6
would use it.

though is that remember this is a multy channal and multi track
recorder. So some how it could be that you armed the other XLRs
without meaning too. But na from what you just said I guess it
can split files after all.

Hi all.

I have a nice Zoom H6 digital hand recorder, and although it

On Saturday, I recorded a 2 hour concert at my local village hall.

The Zoom created three files, not one file.

In Goldwave, for example, you can tick the box titled
Unbounded within settings so that you can record a file of any
length.

My zoom must have a similar function, but I cannot find it.

I don't want to end up with three files after only 2 hours of
recording. I only require one file.

Is there anyone who knows what I'm talking about and can help
me set up my Zoom to make a single file of any length.

Thanks very much.

Very best wishes.

Re: Anyone use a Zoom H6 for audio recording

2017-01-30 Thread Dane Trethowan

Hi!

I don't have this recording device yet and their could be a few reasons
why you're getting multiple files, my H1 did this also however with the
H1 there was no way to get around this and I wasn't surprised given the
price of the recorder so perhaps there is a setting that can be changed
in the H6? I say perhaps because I honestly wouldn't be surprised if
their wasn't, normally Wave files have limits of around 1.8GB anyway.

So - given you have Goldwave - why not try a more practical approach.

You have all your files - 3 of them you said containing your concernt -
so why not just open up a new file in Goldwave and paste your files - in
the order you need - into the new file, you can then save your work in
whatever file format you like after editing or whatever, if you want to
save your concert in a single file then I suggest at least FLAC for the
master, that way you can make modifications and edits etc without losing
any quality and you can always convert to other formats easily.
