Re: Ready for the Hookah.

2017-07-04 Thread P. J. Alling
Not to make excuses, since the major problem was my fault, but I had set
the ISO for 160, I should have bumped that up to 800 or so based on the
light conditions. So exposure speed was about 1/5 second. There was
probably some subject movement, and some photographer movement that the
SR system couldn't entirely compensate.

As for the framing there were distracting elements on the right hand
side of the frame, which I composed around, and I ended up cropping
quite a bit anyway.

There are times when I wish for a "fast" normal zoom in the 16-50mm
range, but I still haven't found the one I actually want to own or pay
full price for.

PJ Sir, pretty good picture considering dusk time and street lighting.
A bit unsharp though and you left space at the LHS instead of
including more of the HOOKAH on the RHS.
We are made to think your picture story is round the Hookah? or is it
the pretty Lady??

PS: I spent some 19 years in the Middle East, North Africa & the CIS
where Hookah smoking, Turkish Coffee & Nuts are a pastime.
Here in India Hookah was very common, but not now because of
health concerns. I still have my Dad's Hookah painted in 24 Carat
Gold, silver mouth piece with the tubing braided in Gold
Thread. My Grandma would smoke the smaller hand held version. There
were
some (4) four Tobacconist - all Moslems - in our neighborhood,
who would make fresh moist Tobacco balls in some (18) Flavors to
order. My Dad preferred the "Spicy" and my Grand Mom the
"Sweet" type. I have a small supply in the Freezer from my Birth place
Patna some 2100 Km up north from Bangalore my home town. Down
South there are no Tobacconists.
In Libya you can smoke it on the side walk Restaurants.

I haven't posted anything in a while, and I was out and about tonight
and figured I'd try a little street photography. Most of the really
interesting stuff is technically so poor the I didn't feel the content
overcame the other issues but this isn't terrible, it's just not very
good.I decided to post it anyway.
