Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] LMS Artwork Configuration...would a plugin be *possible*?
The two first pionts is already there . Given that you use one album one folder . Ie artist/album/track LMS uses the embedded art in the first track of an album then it loks in the album folder for folder.jpg or front.jpg or cover.jpg then i think it uses whatever it can find . But it does not go over or above this . Then there is a plugin that downloads cover art for you or is it standard nowadays :) sometimes i dont remener whats a plugin or a standard feature. No afaik its about Spotify encryption they use an encrypted ogg format and the library Michael uses decrypt and spits out pcm ? Our players can not do this in thier firmware so the streams has to decrypt somewhere. The flac part is because its smart for WiFi players the bandwith gets smaller and the flac formats has some other smart things going for it like error correction and tag information, but I dont know whats used here apart from making the bandwith smaller for those of us with WiFi . Is > that correct, or do we get some benefit over the standard 320kbs MP3? > Regardless, it sounds fantastic, and has none of the bugs that the new > Kodi Spotify has. > > Mike Basically "yes" but spotiffy does not use mp3 it's 320kbps OGG with some encryption added that librespot or libspotify decodes and put out a raw PCM stream . that we can use as we want usually converting it to flac for practical reasons . Other spotify app like the one on the phone has quality settings where 320kbps is their best (low, normal, high) . And i think spotty and triodes old plugin settled on the best stream . No benefits but usually 320k OGG is good enough inaudible diffrences for humans . That said i dont think spotify themself do thier best a encoding and possibly record companies have uploaded stuff with less resolution , but on a good day when things are done rigth it should not be an issue. But its hard to compare it may not be the same master on spotify as your own disc if try that. Its is also about how diffrent apps uses the volume leveling feature of spotify ? Triodes defunct plugin had a feature to defeat that ? how librespot is using it . I dont know . Also LMS has a feature "Default Adjustment for Remote Streams" for each player the default is -5dB its usefull for most webradio that can be a bit loud . But for best spottify performance set this to 0 . That kbps must be set into context for a LOSSLES codec it mostly tells you how efficient the LOSSLES compresion is 705kbps as FLAC can cary the same information as 1411kbps PCM it works just lika zip file . There are numerous tricks to compress data without losing anything . You can turn it the other way PCM is quite wasteful , a file with 5 minutes of absolute silence will have the same size and bitrate as one with music. LOSSY compressors do away with information due to psychoacoustic evaluation model and throw aways stuff your not supposed to hear . The goal is not only to get a smaller file . But lowering the bitrate to makes streaming less data intesive . Here kbps make some sense as you can sort of equate quality with bitrate but not always . Trying to grade stuff by a single number usually oversimplifies, the correlation is not linear and codecs are different and for example an old mp3 encoder from the 90's would not do very well compared to a modern one at the same bitrate. On Spotify's own mobile app's setting for bitrate i keep it on normal (not the high quality used by spotty ) because it works better on the move and in the car . In the noisy car and cheap headphones outdoors it dont matter much. Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] [Announce] Spotty v1.1.0
DavidBulluss wrote: > Just checked my settings and by default SPOTTY flac & mp3 are disabled, > pcm ofcourse enabled. > > Regards, David Good but as discussed . You can use flac it's still lossles and the same as PCM and mp3 would only happen when necessary , bitrate limiting invoked or an old slimp3 ( or other player ) that needs mp3. So just leaving the filetypes settings with both flac and mp3 enabled works just fine LMS knows that for example your Touch should have a flac stream ( or pcm if you disabled flac ). LMS automatically picks, the best possible stream to,use given the used players . Flac is prefered over pcm because it conserves bandwidth , good with wifi conected players. If you are cpu bound you can save some cpu cycles at the expense of bandwith with flac disabled . But the result is the same at the player lossles is lossles regardless of codec . The confusion between lossles compression ( flac alac ape etc ) and lossy compression ( ogg mp3 AAC etc ). We can have another tread about that . Short version lossles compresion restores the original PCM when decoded lossy does not information is trown away Main hifi: Touch + CIA PS +MeridianG68J MeridianHD621 MeridianG98DH 2 x MeridianDSP5200 MeridianDSP5200HC 2 xMeridianDSP3100 +Rel Stadium 3 sub. Small issue with the widget on the lock screen . Sometimes the play and pause symbol gets mixed up. I'm updated to 2.40 sure . I use Fixed IP simply because the router is an apendix in my home network :) almost every player and stationary computers and servers have fixed ip and are coinected via switches . Hence me fumbling with the router or restarting it does not stop the music , the music system would work of the switches alone except one player and mobile apps . Amended the SSH passw via SSH . Have not tried the web-UI password feature again . The sympton is that the password i actually enter is not the one in use . I managed once with another browser than the one i used to set the password and added a blank space ? Set pw in iOS safari enter the web-UI via Firefox on Linux mint . Itried several times ? Can it be a keyboard setting somewhere ? I use Englidsh UI and a Swedish keyboard ? Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Max2Play Webinterface for Mediaclients (Audioplayer, Squeezeserver, Airplay, XBMC)
Well things are working now after some fumbling around . I recommend to reserve the devices ip in the router as the built in fixed ip settings somewhats breaks DNS it could for example not install the VNC plugin in this mode . and did not find all repos for upgrades (it did find some ) The password plugin is not working properly from any web-browser i tried . pi and root password can be changed with passwd and you always have su or sudo . you can only acess as the pi user and then do su. This is probably a good feature but i wanted to replace the default paswwords for obvious reasons there must be millions of them with user=pi password=raspberry and the root password max2play is easilly googled. Otherwise its playing music :) Anyone having a clue about the syntax for squeezelite settings in max2play i studied the squeezelite manpage but it does not contain practical examples so one can understand the syntax just a bunch < > : etc that does not mean much without context. I did try "-r 96" I want to limit squeezelite to 96k because the HT processor cant take more , not a big issue as i only have maybe 10 albums in 192k ( I do try to avoid them if I can ). I'll try the Kodi feature next Main hifi: Touch + CIA PS +MeridianG68J MeridianHD621 MeridianG98DH 2 x MeridianDSP5200 MeridianDSP5200HC 2 xMeridianDSP3100 +Rel Stadium 3 sub. One old thing . I've always thougth this was a user eror intill read a similar post . The menu "falls back to genres or artist or something" ? For example i do a search for an artist , see the artist tap on the name and I'll see the artist album , but then *sometimes* like magic iPeng reverts to some basic place ? if I just put my finger in the search field again the artist is suddenly back as soon as the keyboard appears ? Then I may stick when I hide the keyboard or I do it twice . One new thing . I see double players one or two can decide to have twins . After I've been away for while , when I get home from work for example. If select the players back and forth a couple of times it fixes itself . When I'm constantly active during the evening it does not happen . Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Help needed on debugging
In the filetypes setting in LMS you can disable native for ALAC and/or AAC then faad will transcode. Boom does not have native alac or aac support thtas why it happens automatically for Boom. If the files are ALAC , apple lossless then you could batch convert them to FLAC Main hifi: Touch + CIA PS +MeridianG68J MeridianHD621 MeridianG98DH 2 x MeridianDSP5200 MeridianDSP5200HC 2 xMeridianDSP3100 +Rel Stadium 3 sub.
