Convert from QL graphics files to BMP (16-bit or 24-bit) for transfer to other systems. View files, convert QL file types and convert between screen modes. The QL files can now be RLE compressed as PAC files, using similar compression to compressed GD2 sprites, thanks to routines from Per Witte. RLE compression under the operating system is normally only used for GD2 sprites. There is a 'scaling' option to allow a picture being viewed to be resize to fit the window. It is A problem. I normally manage to work around it these days, as I do numerous other little quirks and "features". It only became a problem for me 'tother day after I merged some some well-tested library routines with a larger project, not realising that some of my global variables happened to have the same name as the parameters of some function (Duh!) Then I wasted a stressful hour and a half trying to figure out why the program would just hang without there being anything "wrong" with it. (It compiled with Qlib and the Turbo parser did not report any relevant errors, etc.) I made some changes and then I kept getting nonsense structural errors instead. In other words a huge time waster; just the sort of thing to put people off writing decent, modern programs in SBASIC for SMSQ/E! That being said, I dont expect anyone to try to fix it! It takes some skill and, more importantly, "being in the picture". Ie it takes time to get into the thing, especially if it has been a while. And bug hunting can be a dreadful, time consuming business even for the best. At least by bringing it up here, where there still appears to be some interest in SMSQ/E and QL software, people may be made aware and save themselves some head/heartache. Per ___ QL-Users Mailing List Hi Per, I know that is not Your problem but when I saw that Wolgang seemed somewhat puzzled too, I decided to reply to your question. In the worst case it just hangs and must be RJOBed. What seems to get the interpreter's knickers in a twist is a parameter being referenced using the same name as the parameter, 'ch' in this case. This is supposed to be perfectly "legal". I dont know when this behaviour started but Ive noticed it for a while. It would be nice if this could be fixed as, for example, in larger projects, when using library code you dont necessarily notice that variable names are the same a parameter names, and so you may end up getting unexplained hangs or obscure error messages that dont actually relate to the problem. François ___ QL-Users Mailing List ___ QL-Users Mailing List Hi Giorgio, About the problems running Qtimage from Ramx_. Just a thought, Why don’t you use the HOME-thing, that would make the program more versatile, I think, I have merged 3 pic-files (2 large & 1 small) without a problem, It took minutes,,, but it worked. Tests Image Zoom OK Resize OK Border OK Colours This is another kettle of fish, To avoid a new menu popping up, you ought to replace all occurences of scale -256 to +256 with -255 to +255 and keep the loose item ‘ok’ unavailable until the correct values are entered, Entering wrong values are sometimes corrected by the program but not always. Wrong values allow the popup of a new menu ( see Filter →Pixel). But this behaviour seems unpredictable here, at least to me. So make it impossible to use values that are out of range . Make it impossible to enter wrong values for all the other colour items. Have a fine evening. François ___ QL-Users Mailing List

Re: [Ql-Users] Q-Liberator v3.45
Op 29/11/2021 om 17:20 schreef Dilwyn Jones via Ql-Users: Version 3.45 of the Q-Liberator BASIC compiler has been launched. This version was submitted to me by Per Witte, who has done a fair bit of work on rationalising the distribution, by splitting the compiler into a runtime disk (what you need to compile programs) and a sources disc, for those who like to study the sources of the compiler to see how it works and who may like to co-operate on future development and bug fixes. In this new version 3.45 (or v3.45a as it appears on-screen), there is a bug fix relating to Externals (compiled external procedures), where the HISTORY_TXT file says that “A fixed location in Qlib_run was sought but not found due to change in length of introduction string.” There is no significant change to the functionality of the compiler since the previous version. The compiler is available to download as either floppy disc images or as regular QL format zipped files for those whose systems don’t support floppy disc images. On the runtimes disc, the package is now split into a set of directories with the documents in one directory, for example, and the demo files in another directory. While fairly obvious, it does mean it needs to be used on a system which support level 2 filing system – a system supporting QL directories. The runtime compiler disc is a single 720K disc image, while the sources come on a larger 1.4MB disc image. Q-Liberator v3.45 may be downloaded free of charge from my website at http://www.dilwyn.me.uk/qlib/index.html . In case of difficulty, it may also be downloaded from the mirror site at http://dilwyn.qlforum.co.uk/qlib/index.html . In both cases, scroll down to the “QLiberator v3.45” section about halway down the page. Previous recent versions of the compiler will remain available for posterity, or in case issues with the current version force you to revert to using an earlier version. The last full commercial version of the compiler from publisher Liberation Software was v3.36. If it detects that the drive is registered as a an msdos type device, it saves the file with line ending CR+LF, instead of the normal LF as used on win devices. If you now try to use the MacroAssembler to assemble a file that contains macros, this will fail (the MA seems to calculate the number of bytes it has got, which will be wrong as the NFA driver converts CF+LF to LF automagically) The MA then resets the file position to somewhere in the file, corresponding to the number of bytes before the macro (I suppose to read th emacro again) and that will be wrong, so that it reads something other in the file and then fails. As usual, the wise guys at M$ have, for their own ineffable reasons, re-arranged the furniture to no discernable purpose, other than, no doubt, to leverage their colonisation of my privacy. At least one of their insane "improvements" is to move the keyboard language indicator, which was happily situated on the task bar/system tray, into its own blob on the screen. I need to switch keyboard layouts as I type in different languages, and not having an indicator is as bad, or worse, than not having a capslock indicator. (But at least on my "QL" I can fix the latter myself!) The problem is that *this blob shines through* in QPC2 and SMSQmulator's full screen mode! (I never think of my QL as just another Windows "app"!) In SMSQmulator its a dud, ie its not clickable, but in QPC2 the blob is active and hostile. Yet the last thing one wants in an emulator is some other system's active control shining through, messing up one's display where it has no business! Some Windows and Web movie applications in full screen mode manage to blot out the blob, but others dont/cant. But that must mean that it is possible at least. Any tips or suggestions as to how this may be dealt with are welcome! Im new to W11, so perhaps I just havent found the way to put the indicator back where it belongs - visible, but out of the way when you dont want it. (And why they hell did they take away Toolbars!) MC_FnB nicely returns zero in er% and not one of the possible negative values. SetDBS does some DBAS handling and doesn't return an error in er, as tested just before the RETurn line which produces the "RETurn not..." error. Checking the database confirms that SetDBS works properly. Strangely when I REM the SetDBS call, the same error is given in another FN when GetScreen has long been left by its own RETurn. Also the MC_ProcA route does not generate the error when doing the SetDBS call or in the other Sbas FN if skipping SetDBS. When I compile the Basic with QLIB v3.36 there are no errors reported and the compiled _obj executes without producing this error. Of course the Sbas version differs slightly from the _obj but this has mainly to do with reporting variable values. Also the Basic extensions as for the MC_xxx ones above are LRESPR'd in the Sbas run and $$asmb'd by Qlib. The numbered Basic as generated by BasicLinker and then run from job 0 produces the same error as run from QD. So what could be messing up my RETurns? There's a new release out today, version 1.16, which is an enhancement requested by Derek Stewart over version 1.15. It now allows you to use your own background image rather than the one I installed at version 1.13, a NASA image of Jupiter. Windows users, I've noticed that 1.15 onwards requires a new set of Windows Support Files.
