Groups Templates

2006-07-04 Thread Tom
Hello Everyone,

I created a group and used a template for messages to these
recipients within the group.
I just noticed that if I try to send a regular email to one of the
group members, somehow the special template is being attached to his
email. That was not my intention. What I would like to achieve is to
have a group of x people who need to receive regular updates, receive
these updates with a minimum effort from me, ie my intent to use a
template.
However, I have to communicate with them individually too and in that
case the template should remain sleeping. I had assumed that if I use
as recipient Group A and allocate a template to group A, then all
emails to the Group will be with the template. If I write to a member
of Group A using the individual name, the template should not appear.
What's my mistake?

Your mistake is that you didn't realize that address book templates
(be it individual or group based) are always used.
For incidental use you'd better create a Quick template, select the
option to use it for new messages and use thatr for your group
updates.

So, the only time I would use a template within the address book is if
this recipient always gets the same type of message ?

Yes. Though 'the same kind of message' isn't as narrow as it sounds.
I'm using AB templates for all TB-lists. For the English lists I'm
using a template that sets the language for the spell checker to
English and also gives an indication for the difference in time zone
when I'm replying to a message. Also I've got this footer that says
what version of TB and Windows I'm using. (For some problems that's
relevant)
When I'm writing to a German TB-list, I'm setting the spell checker to
German and I'm using a relevant signature.
When I'm writing to a Dutch TB list, my spell checker defaults to my
native Dutch, but I'm using a relevant signature.

Apart from the TB lists I'm subscribed to more mailing lists with
their own templates. Sometimes it's for the spell checker or a
signature, but for the rest of it those messages cab differ as much as
it's necessary.

How do you create a signature file?

2006-07-04 Thread Tim Hamm
Hello everyone,

Decided I would like to have a signature file for certain emails and
don't seem to be able to figure out what to do first. I have a picture
to add as well and need some help. Anyone have any expertise in doing
this? Seems a bit more complicated than what I experienced in Eudora.
When I went to the help menue to look up Signature, there was no
information on how to create one. I have to assume TB doesn't call it
a signature file since there is nothing in the Help menu on how to
create one.
