[Bug 162167] Re: mySQL password asks only once
Thanks for you debdiffs. Your drops the debconf priority to medium, instead of high, resulting in a default install that doesn't prompt for a password during installation. You've also tried to fix a non-existing issue in your last debdiff: /etc/init.d/mysql stop does the right thing even if mysqld is not running. Thus the comment raised in the debian-devel mail doesn't apply to mysql-dfsg. Please check if the issue applies to the package before fixing it. Could you also not include all the translations in your debdiff ? These are automatically generated by the clean target and should be removed from the submitted debdiff to help the review. Look at the filterdiff command to help in that regard. Otherwise the debconf code looks good and works. However adding a new string in the template means that we'll have to notify translators about it. -- mySQL password asks only once https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/162167 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to mysql-dfsg-5.0 in ubuntu. -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs

[Bug 32415] Re: Bluetooth Mouse and Keyboard Broken in Dapper/Edgy/Feisty
My logitech cordless elite bluetooth hub connects with USB. When you get the first login prompt, just pull out the USB plug, wait a second or two and plug it back in. Both your keyboard and mouse will then wake up. Tadaaa! I fully agree that this is the most pathetically tedious bug I have ever seen. It probably also causes the most bad press for Linux as every bluetooth user will get caught by it. Surely the relevant developers can see from the amount of threads and postings on this subject, that it is a critical bug? [Bug 204854] Re: gnome-terminal / vte doesn't follow gnome font rendering settings
Yes, there is something wrong with the font rendering in Gnome terminal in the latest Hardy. Essentially, it ignores the system settings for subpixel rendering. See the attached screenshot. Character map is showing Monospace, 10 pt. The Font preferences show that the system's monospace font is Monospace, 10pt. Terminal is set to use the system font. However, while character map and Appearance shows nice crisp monospace text, Gnome Terminal has it's own antialiasing. [Bug 206365] Re: brother-lpr-drivers-extra printing in A4-format not possible
Of course, I get notification for all bugs for my brother packages :) . The extra package contains /usr/Brother/inf/brMFC5440CNrc and /usr/Brother/inf/brMFC5440CNfunc files that have +w permissions and that contains configuration values for your printer. I suspect that the problem is here because these files contains letter as the paper type and these values does not seem to change even when the parameter is changed through cupsys. [Bug 206375] [NEW] Wallpapers lack branding
Public bug reported: All four wallpapers that come with Hardy Heron (as seen in the Beta release) do not have any Ubuntu branding. Wallpapers from the Warty days had Ubuntu on the lower right corner. This is very important. One of the most influential variables on the adoption of any new technology (and there is plenty of research to back this) is the observability or branding of that innovation. If the wallpapers have this branding, it will go a long way at getting people to see what that cool OS is. Re: [Bug 129910] Re: Blank ttys when using vesafb (vga=xxx)
If you will help, really _can_ do it. No programming experience needed. Best choice to begin is vanilla kernel, but you can do the same with ubuntu kernel too.. 1. download latest kernel and chack if bug still there. sudo apt-get install git-core git clone git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/torvalds/linux-2.6.git for vanilla kernel or git clone git://kernel.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ubuntu-hardy.git for ubuntu hardy. 2. install packages to build kernel sudo apt-get build-dep linux sudo apt-get install libncurses5-dev libncursesw5-dev 3. go to kernel, configure, compile and install it. ( you do not need to make kernel with initrd ) cd linux-2.6 make menuconfig ( to configure kernel ) make -j2 all sudo make isnatll sudo make modules_install ( -j2 option for dual core users ) 4. edit grub to boot latest kernel sudo vi ( or ) nano /boot/grub/menu.lst --- and change this parts: timeout 5 #hiddenmenu title Linux root(hd0,0) kernel /vmlinuz root=/dev/sda2 acpi_sleep=s3_bios,s3_mode libata.noacpi=1 ro -- normally you will have other kernel parameters 5. (MOST important part) If bug still exist and this is regression to some kernel version: man git-bisect git bisect start( will make extra branch for testing ) git bisect bad ( current version is bad ) git bisect good v2.6.23( version 2.6.23 is bad ) make menuconfig make -j2 all sudo make isnatll sudo make modules_install reboot test kernel if it's good, go to you git repository: cd linux-2.6 git bisect goodmake -j2 all sudo make isnatll sudo make modules_install #if it's bad git bisect bad -- This testing will need some time bud you will find exact patch braced your system. And believe me, such bug report will really accelerate bug fixing and make you as part of solution and not part of noise. -- Blank ttys when using vesafb (vga=xxx) https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/129910 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Can you provide me a little more info as to what version you upgraded from/to, and why those dirs were already empty? obviously it should be fixed - just curious if there are greater problems I need to make IBM aware of) Thanks again! -Brian ** Changed in: db2exc (Ubuntu) Assignee: (unassigned) = Brian Thomason (brian-thomason) Status: Won't Fix = In Progress -- postrm script fails https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/191656 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 206392] [NEW] can`t instal at ubuntu 7.10
Public bug reported: sudo apt-get install php5-interbase Reading package lists... Done Building dependency tree Reading state information... Done Some packages could not be installed. This may mean that you have requested an impossible situation or if you are using the unstable distribution that some required packages have not yet been created or been moved out of Incoming. Since you only requested a single operation it is extremely likely that the package is simply not installable and a bug report against that package should be filed. The following information may help to resolve the situation: The following packages have unmet dependencies: php5-interbase: Depends: phpapi-20051025 but it is not installable E: Broken packages ** Affects: php-interbase (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- can`t instal at ubuntu 7.10 https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/206392 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 199960] Re: error starting GNOME Settings Daemon
I can confirm that this program did detect Xgl when I had it installed, and after I uninstalled it (which fixed the problem with gnome-settings- daemon, thank you!) it indicates that it is not installed. (Note for anyone else attempting to compile it, you will need the libxv-dev package installed if you don't have it already.) -- error starting GNOME Settings Daemon https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/199960 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
