[Bug 482501] Re: Karmic incorrectly mounts USB disk (NTFS) as 700, cannot change behavior.

2009-12-20 Thread Lev Abashkin
After some research I found that mount options for devicekit-disks were
hardcoded into it. So I made a patch to fix it. It conflicts with one of
the patches from devicekit-disks source package, so you have to add it
in patches directory and mention it in the end of series file.

[Bug 420678] Re: [karmic] Intel WiFi Link 5300 sometimes not working on 5 GHz

2009-12-20 Thread Alan LaMielle
Thanks lightning9, it's good to know there is a workaround available.
I'm not willing to try it quite yet as using 5GHz N isn't a mission
critical feature for me; it's more of an annoyance that I cannot use it.
I'm going to wait a while and hopefully someone will fix the iwlagn
driver. Thanks for the workaround though!

[Bug 214370] Re: Logout/Shutdown Sound Not Working

2009-12-20 Thread Andrew
Woohoo! Thanks David!!

Although this is a workaround, there is no problem with it, it does the
desired behavior (i.e. plays the shutdown/logout sound on logout and
shutdown) and conforms with all the necessary configuration (i.e. if in
Preferences Sound you have sounds disabled, it will not play).

I shall create a debdiff with a patch, in the mean time, will people try
it out and comment if the workaround doesn't work for them (make sure in
Sound Preferences, you have the Ubuntu theme selected and the alert
volume is loud enough).

[Bug 498817] [NEW] Merge changes from clutter-gtk

2009-12-20 Thread Michael Bienia
Public bug reported:

Lucid has currently clutter-gtk and clutter-gtk-0.10, both being the same
upstream version (0.10.2).
As both build the same binary packages, this leads that the ones from
clutter-gtk-0.10 override the ones from clutter-gtk as the version for the
first ones is larger (see the upload error for clutter-gtk on armel:
http://launchpadlibrarian.net/36969151/upload_1382880_log.txt).

It should be probably be best to move our changes from clutter-gtk to
clutter-gtk-0.10. But I currently don't have an idea what to do with
clutter-gtk. It exists in Debian as version 0.8 so it's hard to get it
back to this version, so it would probably be best to remove it from
lucid.

[Bug 498817] Re: Merge changes from clutter-gtk

2009-12-20 Thread Michael Bienia
clutter-gtk-0.10 (0.10.2-1ubuntu1) lucid; urgency=low

  * Merge from clutter-gtk (lp: #498817), remaining changes:
- Add --enable-gtk-doc to the ./configure call for nice docs.
- Add gtk-doc-tools to Build-Depends.
- Build a gir1.0-clutter-gtk-0.10 package:
+ Put GtkClutter-0.10.typelib into the package.
  + Add gir1.0-gtk-2.0, gir1.0-clutter-1.0 to build dependencies.
+ Make the package conflict with old versions of libclutter-gtk-0.10-0.
- debian/libclutter-gtk-0.10-dev.install:
  + Distribute gobject introspection files
- debian/libclutter-gtk-0.10-doc.install:
  + Versioned documentation path

[Bug 456870] Re: pylint spews Exception RuntimeError: maximum recursion depth exceeded while calling a Python object, when parsing email.message.Message.get()

2009-12-20 Thread Edward K. Ream
I am getting this problem with all files of my Leo sources on Ubuntu

pylint 0.18.0, (latest available package)

Python 2.6.4 (r264:75706, Dec 7 2009, 18:45:15)
[GCC 4.4.1]

For example, from Leo's bzr repository: (the top-level directory):

pylint leo/core/leoFileCommands.py pylint.out

Messages to console, but not to pylint.out.

I'd call this a show-stopper. Please do something about this.

[Bug 453807] Re: nm_vpn_connection_connect_cb(): VPN connection 'xyz' failed to connect: 'No VPN secrets!'.

2009-12-20 Thread perlhead
This patch solves the issue.

The problem was that the service attempted to validate secrets for all
connection types except static keys (the comment was /* Static Key
doesn't need secrets; the rest do */), which is incorrect: passwordless
TLS doesn't need secrets either. the attached patch solves the issue. I
am still mistyfied as to why it *sometimes* worked, though...

[Bug 498826] [NEW] compiz does not display window frames, Cairo-Dock and terminal windows turn white

2009-12-20 Thread Strider581
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: compiz

Compiz is running in GNOME under Ubuntu 9.10 Jaunty, with the GTK Window
Decorator enabled, and windows can be moved by pressing Alt and
dragging, but the window frames are not displayed, except in Chrome,

desklets turn completely white. Also, any Terminal windows opened
appear white, with no frame and no text.

[Bug 463940] Re: No fans, thermalzone on HP Envy 15 and HP DV6T Quad

2009-12-20 Thread Gabe E. Nydick
FYI and FWIW, I run openSuSE 11.2 and just about everything works.
Here's my summary...

- Thermal zone comes online if I have the thermal module load after boot
finishes, not sure if ubuntu has the 3 different options for module
loading - initrd, boot, and after fs mounted

- no fan detected, but I'm guessing either there isn't a controllable
fan, but even if there is, my fan regulates properly so I don't care

- TurboBoost (I believe) is working, which requires a much longer
explanation, which I'll be happy to post separately

- multiple battery detection works fine

Misc hardware - working w/o tweaks
- fan adjusts with temp changes
- batteries discharge and charge sequentially
- sound card
- web cam
- microphone
- card reader
- HDMI audio and video
- backlight control soft keys
- volume soft keys
- wifi/bluetooth soft keys
- lock screen soft keys
- productivity soft keys (vertically along the left)

Misc hardware - working w/small tweak
- trackpad works just fine, in fact better than with Windows, does require
small hal policy for auto configuring
- external display soft-key - works, not sure what the 3 different modes
are that it cycles through though, or how to identify them

Problems
- can't get fglrx to work Seems as though the video card doesn't get
reset properly and the /etc/ati/amdpscdb changes everytime the display is
started and I can't ever get X to work more than once with fglrx installed.
This seems to possibly be ACPI related.
- can't get the volume mute soft-key LED to turn off

DSDT
- I've corrected the DSDT to compile and optimize, however it doesn't
alleviate the parse errors. I believe this is due to the order the kernel goes
through the DSDT. I theorize either reordering the DSDT will fix it or a patch
to the kernel is necessary.

[Bug 431146] Re: Gnome Power Manager fails to put display to sleep

2009-12-20 Thread ENigma885
@João Gomes
Exactly, I'm suggesting to clean install. However, I'm not pretty sure of the
results. All I said is a just hypothesis of the problem being related to the
Jaunty-Karmic update process.

And I was trying to confirm my hypothesis by asking all the affected ppl
if they've updated to Karmic through Jaunty or not.

[Bug 498827] [NEW] wrong filename guess at export

2009-12-20 Thread dronus
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: audacity

audacity 1.3.9-6 (karmic)

If I export an audio file, the file dialog repeats the name used when
importing the file. However, if a file with multiple .-seperated parts
is used, the suffix got stripped. For example:

import a file named my.audio.file.wav. now project is named
my.audio.file. Use export, and the file dialog suggests
my.audio.file. It should save as my.audio.file.wav, but when
clicking save, it will save my.audio.file.

[Bug 498829] [NEW] sound output via headphone is not working correctly

2009-12-20 Thread Charon
Public bug reported:

I have a Fujitsu Siemens Esprimo Mobile Laptop (X9525) with a docking station.
After I updated to Ubuntu 9.10 I encountered problems with the sound system.
When I plug a headphone to the laptop, I can still hear sound via the speakers.
I am not able to get rid of the sound of the speaker when plugging the
headphone to the laptop. However, when I plug the headphone to the docking
station, everything works as expected and the speakers are switched off
automatically.
When using the audio applet in the taskbar and setting sound output to analog
headphone I only have sound via the docking station but not via the laptop
headphone jack or the speakers. Only when setting the sound output to analog
output I have sound via the laptop headphone jack (and also via the speakers).

[Bug 380346] Re: BKchem using python2.6 crashed with SIGSEGV in Tcl_CreateHashEntry()

2009-12-20 Thread Harbin
I confirm that the patch above works on Ubuntu 9.10.

Made following modifications to /usr/lib/blt2.4/pkgIndex.tcl file:

if {[package vcompare [info tclversion] 8.2]  0} {
set taillib ${version}.so.8.0
} elseif {[package vcompare [info tclversion] 8.3]  0} {
set taillib ${version}.so.8.2
} elseif {[package vcompare [info tclversion] 8.4]  0} {
set taillib ${version}.so.8.3
} elseif {[package vcompare [info tclversion] 8.5]  0} {
set taillib ${version}.so.8.4
} else {
set taillib ${version}.so.8.5
}

Sorry for not sending a diff, that one should do.

[Bug 480037] Re: Closing laptop lid crashes Ubuntu

2009-12-20 Thread Harbin
On Dell Latitude X300:
- downgrading to xserver-xorg-video-intel-2.4 DID NOT HELP. Althought it
changed some things, after downgrading closing the lid just messed the desktop
up, instead freezing the whole computer.
- enabling ForceEnablePipeA option DID NOT HELP. Altho I'm not quite sure if
I managed to make that setting effective, since XORG logs still told something
like using PipeB?
- enabling nomodeset on GRUB boot settings just made me unable to access GDM
/ X, was not able to test.

[Bug 498839] [NEW] No keyboard indicator applet shown after install with Greek kb

2009-12-20 Thread Thanos Lefteris
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnome-panel

Steps to reproduce:

1) During installation from the Ubuntu 9.10 desktop live cd, select Greek as a
language for installation
2) Select the Greek keyboard layout in appropriate installation step
2) Finish installation and reboot into the newly installed system

What I expected to happen:

 - See a keyboard indicator applet so that I can see what layout is
active and also change language with the mouse.

What actually happened:

 - No keyboard indicator applet shown in the panel. The user has to
figure out how to do it her self. There are two keyboard layouts
configured in the system automatically (Greek and English), but no
intuitive way to switch between them.

** Affects: gnome-panel (Ubuntu)
 Importance: Undecided
 Status: New

[Bug 214370] Re: Logout/Shutdown Sound Not Working

2009-12-20 Thread Andrew
Hi Guys,

I have realised I am not a shell script wizard and so I shall pass this
onto someone who is, I have this working in bash, but ideally it needs
to be working in /bin/sh. Also I have just realised we would be patching
GDM instead of gnome-session which the bug is actually in I wish
someone could just cleanup the patch upstream...

[Bug 361991] Re: Sent items are not getting created / Outbox not flushed

2009-12-20 Thread ShortMort37
I don't know if my problem is related -- I've configured Evolution for
imap, and smtp to send mail. I find that if I send email soon after
connecting to my Red Hat linux email server, I don't have any problems.
But if I read email for a while, move to various imap folders, etc. --
then, send an email -- it remains stuck in the outbox. I have to exit
Evolution and restart it -- then, I reopen any of the N emails in the
outbox and resend, and they all go. (Note: This trick does not work
until I exit and restart.)

Sometimes I can't exit Evolution -- it hangs. Then I have to kill it
via the System Monitor.

I'm running Evolution 2.28.1 under ubuntu 9.10.

Dan

[Bug 498845] [NEW] resume takes a long time (several minutes)

2009-12-20 Thread Josh Hill
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: pm-utils

Suspend and resume usually works OK after a fresh boot, but after the
computer is used for a a few hours or a program that consumes a lot of
memory was used and closed (such as a virtual machine), resuming starts
taking several minutes. The first time it happens it might only take
1-2 minutes to resume. The next time it will be 2-4 minutes. During this
time the hard drive is thrashing constantly. Before suspending, I have
no swap used, and after resuming there is usually at least 1GB of swap
used. It appears that the system swaps everything out to disk upon
resume. Thinkpad T400 with 4GB of RAM. It's been doing this since I
installed Karmic.

I found the following in dmesg from during the suspend process:

[Bug 498844] [NEW] BUG: soft lockup - CPU#0 stuck for 94s! [watchdog/0:5]

2009-12-20 Thread Muflone
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: transmission

I was running ubuntu karmic i386 guest inside a VMWare VM with a Ubuntu
Jaunty amd64 host.

In the host system I tried to download a .torrent filename using Transmission
1.70 then the disk started to word really intensively, the whole machine seemed
freezed.
It took at least 2 minutes to let me access from the VT-1 and over 5 minutes to
stop the intense disk activity, which when ended the whole system resumed the
normal activity.

On the guest OS I've found such report.

ProblemType: KernelOops
Annotation: Your system might become unstable now and might need to be
restarted.

[Bug 498843] [NEW] wrong destination of target Storage.php in /etc/horde/ingo1/prefs.php line 9.

2009-12-20 Thread Tonke
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: ingo1

wrong destination of target Storage.php in /etc/horde/ingo1/prefs.php
line 9.

Solution for /etc/horde/ingo1/prefs.php:
// Make sure that INGO_STORAGE_* constants are defined.
@define('INGO_BASE', '/usr/share/horde3/ingo');
require_once INGO_BASE . '/lib/Storage.php';

Taken from Debian Lenny

This is the original line 9:
require_once dirname(__FILE__) . '/../lib/Storage.php';
as we can see i points to /etc/horde/lib/Storage.php which doesn't exists.

Perhaps a packet dependency for packet php-net-sieve would be usefull.
It is needed for ingo to connect to timesieved from cyrus2.2.
