[Bug 883947] [NEW] folder renaming selects only the part before the last dot
Public bug reported: Hi, i'm using Nautilus on Ubuntu Oneiric. When renaming a folder the renaming feature behaves exactly like the renaming feature for files. It selects all letters before the last dot and only when you press the F2 button once again, the complete foldername will be selected. I think this behavior isn't correct for folder-renaming because there are no folder-extensions like the file-extensions that have to be minded. Therefore it would be better, to select the whole foldername. [Bug 881009] Re: Unable to open Synaptic package manager / Ubuntu software center
Hi, it seems that you have tried to add a custom Ubuntu repository (using, for example, the Repositories preference window or apt-add-repository from the command line), but you have forgotten to strip the [url] and [/url] tags from the address. If so, you will need to edit /etc/apt/sources.list.d/sources.list as root and remove the tags. Please check and then run sudo apt-get update from a terminal to update the package information. Please tell us here if the error still persists or if it does not go away (in the latter case, please also attach all the files in the /etc/apt/sources.list.d directory, as well as /etc/apt/sources.list, to this bug report, as attachments). Public bug reported: When opening a second panel in Nautilus it's not possible to click on the breadcrumb navigation buttons on the inactive panel. This means that if I want to navigate to another location in the scondary panel I have to click somewhere on the navigation area of the inactive panel first and only then can I click on the breadcrumb buttons. Steps to repdroduce: 1) Open a second panel (F3) 2) Click on a breadcrumb navigation button on the newly opened (and inactive) panel Expected results: - The contents of the inactive panel's navigation area change to reflect the new location and the clicked panel becomes active Actual results: - The breadcrumb buttons don't respond to clicks and thus the panel continues to be inactive and its location remains the same ProblemType: Bug DistroRelease: Ubuntu 11.10 Package: nautilus 1:3.2.0-0ubuntu5 ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 3.0.0-12.20-generic 3.0.4 Uname: Linux 3.0.0-12-generic i686 ApportVersion: 1.23-0ubuntu3 Architecture: i386 Date: Sun Oct 30 19:06:06 2011 EcryptfsInUse: Yes InstallationMedia: Ubuntu 11.10 Oneiric Ocelot - Release i386 (20111012) SourcePackage: nautilus UpgradeStatus: No upgrade log present (probably fresh install) ** Affects: nautilus (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: apport-bug i386 oneiric running-unity -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/883942 Title: With two panels can't click on breadcrumb navigation buttons on inactive panel To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/nautilus/+bug/883942/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 883752] Re: Software Centre is the most horrible, bloated and slow application I have ever used.
Could you please try to install an application using the terminal (choose an application you wish and install it with the command sudo apt-get install appname where appname is the name of the package containing the application), just to make sure that the Software Center itself is the main cause of the problem (and not just an unresponsiveness caused by the Debian package infrastructure that handles installation)? Please tell me if you notice any differences in time and, if possible, list here the complete configuration of your system (CPU, amount of RAM, swap size...). If there is no noticeable difference in time, you may want to try installing the apt-xapian-index package - basically, it replaces the text file handling mechanism used by dpkg to fetch and query package information with a more efficient database one. Be wary that the program may consume resources when it's translating the traditional package lists to the database format; searches in the Software Center should be faster, though. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/883752 Title: Software Centre is the most horrible, bloated and slow application I have ever used. [Bug 853056] Re: Cannot select ICC profile
Laryllan's dispwin workaround in post #5 worked for me too. Argyll was already installed, as I would have expected. Whether this is the case on a new install rather than an upgrade I wouldn't know. [Bug 819531] Re: Computer crash at start-up
Hi, I tested kernel 3.1.0-999 from 24/10/2011. It seems that the problem does not exist anymore with this version. I could restart my computer several time without any crash at startup. However, 2 issues remain : startup is very long long compared to 10.10 (~ 2min after grub selection) and Nvidia drivers have not been installed (driver not in use despite installed). For the driver issue, it comes maybe from the fact that the kernel is not fully optimized. [Bug 872582] Re: Snort 2.8.5.2 no longer receives rule updates
Thanks for responding to this bug. I would classify this as medium instead of wishlist, though. The inability to run current rules severely impacts this non-core application, the sole function of Snort is to check traffic against an up-to-date list of signatures that correspond to malicious traffic and that functionality is crippled by the inability of this version to operate with current sigs. There is also a security impact to this bug because Snort is an application that users expect to provide security protection, similar to anti-virus. As a network-based security application, it may be used to provide protection to many systems at once (I operate Snort sensors that protect tens of thousands of client-systems by inspecting traffic at the border of my network). Like anti-virus sigs that are a year or more old, the sigs that this version of Snort is capable of running provide much less protection than current versions and probably less protection than users believe they are getting. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/872582 Title: Snort 2.8.5.2 no longer receives rule updates To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/snort/+bug/872582/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

OK - I think that this other bug report (https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=283682 - KMail duplicates filtered messages) matches both the problem and the version of KMail you are using. (It may be a bit difficult to reproduce the bug since it partially happens at random - I'm referring to the deletion part). If you find that the bug report matches your problem too (I'm not 100% sure), could you please leave a comment in the KDE bugtracker (providing a link to this bug report); otherwise, could you please open a new bug report at the KDE bugtracker (https://bugs.kde.org/), filing it against the product kmail2 and the version 4.7? This way, the KMail developers will be notified of the bug and will fix it. In any case, after you have completed the process, please click on the link Also affects project at the top of this bug report and write the URL of the bug in the KDE bugtracker there.
