[Bug 1705015] [NEW] bumblebee does not work with XPS 9560

2017-07-18 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
You have been subscribed to a public bug:

I have Debian Sid on my XPS 15 9560, the system informations are like
follows:

```
Debian GNU/Linux buster/sid \n \l
Dell Inc.
baseboard-product-name: 05FFDN
baseboard-version : A00
system-manufacturer   : Dell Inc.
system-product-name   : XPS 15 9560
system-version: Not Specified
bios-vendor   : Dell Inc.
bios-version  : 1.3.4
bios-release-date : 06/08/2017
optirun (Bumblebee) 3.2.1
```

I have installed the `bumblebee-nvidia` package from the official
repository. But when I use `optirun`, the terminal outputs following
error:

```
$ optirun -vv glxgears
[  713.774178] [DEBUG]Reading file: /etc/bumblebee/bumblebee.conf
```

Then I tried to configure the `KernelDrive` in
`/etc/bumblebee/bumblebee.conf`, neither `nvidia` or `nvidia-current`
works.

When I run `sudo modprobe nvidia-current`, the error is like this:
```
$ sudo modprobe -vv nvidia-current
modprobe: INFO: ../libkmod/libkmod.c:364 kmod_set_log_fn() custom logging
function 0x9820ee7390 registered
modprobe: ERROR: could not insert 'nvidia_current': No such device
modprobe: INFO: ../libkmod/libkmod.c:331 kmod_unref() context 0x982129d200
released
```

I have checked the `modules` directory, it contains all `nvidia-
current.ko` and `nvidia-current-drm.ko` etc files.

I remember that when Debian was using kernel `linux-image-4.9.0-3-amd64`
there weren't any problem, however when it automatically upgrades to
`4.11.0-1-amd64` and `4.11.0-2-amd64` then bumblebee produces the error
above.

Attached please find the report generated by `bumblebee-bugreport`.

[Bug 1048045] Re: PDF Chain error 256 when attempting to concatenate PDF files

2017-07-18 Thread Rocdufer
Just for the record. The «PDF Chain» message for an «input.pdf»

PDFTK returned error!
Input/Output Error
Error code: 256

may be removed by decrypting «input.pdf» with the command

qpdf --decrypt input.pdf output.pdf

as Manoj did for another, related problem

https://stackoverflow.com/questions/30259554/pdftk-error-failed-to-open-pdf-file.

Nothing in the PDF file's cover says "encrypted", it says "optimized".
So compression was

applied and it needs to be decompressed for PDFTK to open it.

[Bug 1705127] Re: App integrated menus have blurry parts

2017-07-18 Thread Daniel van Vugt
The screenshot looks perfectly clear to me. So two questions...

1. Can you zoom in on what you think the issue is?

2. Are you using a VGA (analog) connection? If so then it's possible
your logical pixels might be slightly out of alignment with the physical
LCD pixels. In that case you need to adjust your monitor settings.

[Bug 1705024] Re: Output to BT speaker stops when laptop is unplugged from AC

2017-07-18 Thread Daniel van Vugt
I experienced similar on my desktop yesterday. No sound when BT speaker
selected. Although I didn't unplug the power from the desktop :)

I think I need to ignore that though because the BT dongle on my desktop
is super-cheap and buggy compared to laptops. It has kernel issues that
then ripple into everything else.

[Bug 1699333] Re: [needs-packaging] vala-panel

2017-07-18 Thread Mattia Rizzolo
Thanks, uploaded.

Just a last remark though (but I didn't want to hold it any longer):
that docbook-to-man call in d/rules generates a file that is not cleaned
up by anything. This is not a real problem, also it will "fix itself"
with the next upstream release where the manpage will be shipped by
upstream.

[Bug 1705156] [NEW] gnome-shell interface shows up extremely scaled up

[Bug 1658345] Re: Touchpad not recognized on Lenovo Ideapad Flex 4 running Ubuntu 16.10

2017-07-18 Thread Keary Parinis
I couldn't get any of the mainline kernels to recognize my touchscreen
or touchpad. I checked between 4.4 and 4.13 with no luck. The
touchscreen works on Ubuntu 16.10 (4.8) and 17.04 (4.10.0-20). Since it
works on those distributions, I'm not sure why none of the mainline
kernels will work. Any recommendations?

[Bug 1705117] Re: ubuntu 17.04 : Boot failed with luks disk

2017-07-18 Thread Ubuntu Foundations Team Bug Bot
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. It seems that your bug report is not filed about a
specific source package though, rather it is just filed against Ubuntu
in general. It is important that bug reports be filed about source
packages so that people interested in the package can find the bugs
about it. You can find some hints about determining what package your
bug might be about at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/FindRightPackage.
You might also ask for help in the #ubuntu-bugs irc channel on Freenode.

To change the source package that this bug is filed about visit
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/1705117/+editstatus and add the
package name in the text box next to the word Package.

[This is an automated message. I apologize if it reached you
inappropriately; please just reply to this message indicating so.]

[Bug 1705145] [NEW] upgrade xenial-perl to get important security fixes

2017-07-18 Thread Karen Etheridge
*** This bug is a security vulnerability ***

Public security bug reported:

xenial packages perl at version 5.22.1, as described here --
https://packages.ubuntu.com/xenial/perl

Please could you upgrade the package to reflect 5.22.4, to include
critical bug fixes that have been fixed in the meantime? This is a
binary-compatible upgrade that does not require the recompilation of
perl modules contained in other ubuntu packages.

Debian has already prepared a 5.22.4 build so you should be able to
simply copy that over. The main security issue of concern is this one
-- https://security-tracker.debian.org/tracker/CVE-2016-1238 -- which
directly affects the package managers used by debian and ubuntu.

I am also in touch with the debian perl people, and the core perl team,
so I can answer additional questions or facilitate communication with
either group as needed.

thank you!

  (Closes: #868705; LP: #651610; CVE-2017-11421).
  * Add Enhances: caja, tumbler (>= 0.1.92~), nautilus, nemo
These are some of the many file managers/thumbnailer programs that support
desktop thumbnailers like exe-thumbnailer, and I have verified (at some
point) that all of these work.
  * fallback-thumbnail-limit.patch: drop, applied upstream.
  * Bump Standards-Version to 4.0.0; no changes needed.
  * Add msitools to recommends; it is used to fetch .msi version info.

[Bug 1705143] [NEW] [needs-packaging] Overlay Countdown Timer

2017-07-18 Thread Sourabh Bhat
Public bug reported:

I have written a simple countdown timer, which seems to be lacking in
Ubuntu distribution for reminder after a certain amount of time. I would
love to see it added to the Ubuntu repository and shared with the
community.

The source is at: https://github.com/heySourabh/OverlayCountdown

I have never packaged any thing for Ubuntu.

It requires Java8 installed on the system.
