[Bug 1860114] [NEW] Reauthentication fail with 2fa

2020-01-17 Thread Lorant Nemeth
Public bug reported:

Server: openvpn 2.4.7-1 (Raspbian 10.2)
Client: ubuntu 19.10 (openvpn: 2.4.7-1ubuntu2, network-manager-openvpn:
1.8.10-1)

My server is using google authenticator via pam as second factor beyond client
certificates.
After 1 hour (which is the default value of reneg-sec) my client tries to
reauth to the server and the authentication fails.

Expected behavior: client should ask for pass(token) after unsuccessful
auth and/or client should have an option not to cache password and ask
for it before trying to reauth.

Workaround: set reneg-sec to 0

** Affects: network-manager-openvpn (Ubuntu)
 Importance: Undecided
 Status: New

2019-09-11 Thread Lorant Nemeth
Hi,

same here: Ubuntu 19.04 latest updates: terminator 1.91-4.

Workaround doesn't work for me either. I'm happy to help to investigate
the problem as I'm using terminator excessively and this bug renders one
of the main 2 features why I'm using terminator unusable.

I think I found a way to reproduce it easily on demand. Open chromium,
and visit google maps. Sign up for new maps. Visit somewhere on the
map and zoom all the way in then zoom in and out a bit. I have triggered
this bug a few times just by doing that. I'm not using dual screens or
anything funky. Just a basic Ubuntu 13.10 install with Unity.

[Bug 1129679] Re: Server hangs preceded by EQ overflowing.

2013-03-22 Thread Lorant Nemeth
I experience the same error several times a day. So far I haven't been
able to identify what causes the problem, but in the past 4 days I had
like 20 crashes. In these cases screen locks up for ~5 seconds than
crash report window pops up, but otherwise I can continue to work. Every
once in a while (once in every 2 weeks) I see total lockup of X.

I'm not sure, but the problems started to accur about the time when I
encrypted my home. Chris, do you have your home encrypted?

Yes it's the most recent one, but what do you mean on old packages? I
guess I did an apt-get upgrade yesterday, but that was still before the
last crash which happened 23:33pm (I'm not sure if I rebooted the

I tried apport-collect 1129679: first of all apport crashed, but than
somehow the GPU hang report dialog still showed up. I authorized
application access and answered a couple of questions, but nothing
happened. Please advise if you need further info and how to collect it,
if apport does not work.

Other: it seems, that in most of the cases the lock-up happens when
using libreoffice presentation (at this point opening a pptx in read-
only mode and switching between the slides (in normal, not presentation
mode)

[Bug 1033263] Re: Ubuntu 12.04 freezes with nvidia drivers

2012-11-12 Thread Lorant Nemeth
With a fresh install of 12.10, lifebook E8410 ( Nvidia 8400M G):
- default nouveau driver messes up screen (all kind of artifacts)
- latest closed source diver (from Nvidia 304.64 ) causes lockups both with
unity and gnome-shell

Focusing on the nvidia driver problem:
- although system is not responding to any user interaction, I'm able to log-in
via ssh and reboot (sometimes I'm even able to use ctrl+alt+f1, then
ctrl+alt+del to reboot, but all the time I see the locked up graphical
interface)
- also applications like skype, date-time... seem to crash often, but I'm not
sure if these are related

I'd like to rewoke my previous comment. I still experience the problem
only this time it took about 15 minutes to experience the effect
(watching movie wth mplayer). Like for Bolick: same headset works fine
with phone and had been working fine with earlier releases (not sure,
but I guess the latest release working fine was 11.04 or 10.10)

I was trying to check if I can find the same logs as Jesse G, but the

[Bug 1035310] Re: Skype systray icon dissappears from unity panel

2012-10-18 Thread Lorant Nemeth
I can confirm this bug.

On my desktop I have skype (4.0.0.8-1), davmail (3.9.6-1843-1) and
empathy (3.4.2.3-0ubuntu1) get started automatically after login. All
three has a notification icon on the top panel, they are responding
correctly to righ/left click and mouseover events. They are visible if I
switch between virtual desktops...all looks fine.

When the problem occors all three icons disappear (keyboard indicator,
battery, mail... remains there just fine). Nothing happens if I click
there 'place' and they only show up for a second when I switch between
virtual desktops.

There might be multiple ways to trigger the problem, but what seems to work all
the time is to:
- start a gnome terminal
- make it fullscreen with F11
- press Alt+tab to switch to another application

What solves the problem until the next Alt+tab: unity --replace. If the
windows are not set to fullscreen but maximized only, the problem does
not occur.

[Bug 254980] Re: Calendar displays appointments/meetings at incorrect times

2010-06-09 Thread Lorant Nemeth
This might be related:

I've seen for at least a year now (even now with Lucid), that sometime either
all or some entries are not dsiplayed in the calendar according to my correct
timezone. Todays experiment showed, that if I was in calendar view before
stopping evolution (no matter if just closing it or using --force-shutdown)
after the startup entries are displayed 1 hour shifted. These meeting request
were most probably sent from a with correct timezone information and if I move
the cursor over them, the correct time and timezone info is shown.. I repeated
stopping and starting evo and leaving it in calendar view and I got the same
behaviour every time. Once I restarted evo while in mail view (and waited till
mailbox gets updated) after switching to calendar view all entries were shown
in the correct time.
Please note, that I'm using exchange calendar.

Let's not go to deep in this NASA thingy... They are in a much easier
situation from HW platform point of view. I doubt there are too many

that these kind of problems should be discovered earlier, maybe
gathering and registering testers with different kind of HW would
increase HW coverage and prevent such severe problems.

[Bug 346691] Re: 2.6.28-11 causes massive data corruption on 64 bit installations

2009-06-12 Thread Lorant Nemeth
I thought a short howto would be good for some people, about how to get
Jaunty running on the effected systems. This is for paranoid people like
me, who don't trust a system installed with an installer running the
buggy kernel or booted up with it once (and have no intention to
create/wait for a new installer). Note: headers might not be needed on
some system, but it can not hurt (and for nvidia driver it will be
needed)

- save all your data if possible
- install 64 bit intrepid
- boot up system
- upgrade to latest packages
- upgrade to jaunty, but do not restart system after upgrade finished
- wget
http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/v2.6.29.4/linux-headers-2.6.29-02062904-generic_2.6.29-02062904_amd64.deb
- wget
http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/v2.6.29.4/linux-headers-2.6.29-02062904_2.6.29-02062904_all.deb
- wget
http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/v2.6.29.4/linux-image-2.6.29-02062904-generic_2.6.29-02062904_amd64.deb
- dpkg -i linux*2.6.29-02062904*deb
- reboot
- make sure to select above kernel (most probably it will be the default, but
it worth to check)
- install nvidia driver if needed (it's ok if you installed it on intrepid, it
will be recompilled when you install the new kernel automatically

This way your system should not get corrupted as you'll never run the buggy
kernel. Of course this way you'll download most of the packages 3 times
(intrepid version, intrepid update version, jaunty version). In case there's an
updated install medium, please let us know, because that way all this stuff in
unnecessary.

Have a nice day! Loci

My only problem with the kernel upgrade is, that first you'd need to
install ubuntu from the CD with the same buggy kernel, and only after
that you can install the new kernel. This means that by the end of the
installation you can't tell what got correctly written to HDD and what
did not.

[Bug 346691] Re: jaunty kernel 2.6.28-11 kernel update renders the system un-usable.

2009-05-05 Thread Lorant Nemeth
On my T61p I got all sort of filesystem problems just like Martin
Peterka (no io errors in dmesg). Applications were crashing with memory
corruption error and so on so I decided to reinstall the system from
scratch. Install went fine, but after the second reboot I got back
initrd prompt saying that init could not be found although I was able to
mount rootfs manually. I'll do a new reinstall and check when things get
screwed. I'll let you know about the result.

2009-05-05 Thread Lorant Nemeth
Reinstall done:
- first boot ok
- install all upgrades
- reboot ok
- install nvidia 180 driver
- first reboot stuck before splash screen !?!
- second reboot successful
- apt-get install wireshark tshark vim-full compizconfig-settings-manager mc
 complains about corrupted /var/lib/dpkg/status
- dmesg still doesn't show any io errors, but I'll check smart once I fix dpkg

The whole system is really unstable and as the problem seems to be on

Strange enough I haven't seen this problem on 64 bit desktop systems but only
on this 64bit laptop.

[Bug 222922] Re: snd-bt-sco creates an unusable device

2008-09-24 Thread Lorant Nemeth
Hi!

I just tried btsco with the latest (Alpha 6) Interpid Ibex version.
Results:

- modprobe snd_bt_sco - works fine
- btsco [mac] - as ubuntu user:

Error: control open (hw:1): No such file or directory
Error: Can't find device. Bail

- btsco [mac of headset] as root

starts fine, pairing works, but:

1. /dev/dsp1 is created fine but device is visible neither in Sound preferences
nor in Ekiga device selection list
2. ps ax|grep btsco shows the process in sleep state (S)
3. mpg123 -a /dev/dsp1 something.mp3 as root prints:

Error in writing audio (Input/output error?)!

After this ps ax|grep btsco shows the process is dead (D)

[Bug 235284] Re: Suspend-to-ram broken on IBM/Lenovo Thinkpad T61p [FIXED]

2008-06-22 Thread Lorant Nemeth
Hi,

applying the patch didn't help me (applied patch by hand, than restarted hal),
but downgrading hal-info package to version 20080317+git20080318-1ubuntu4 and
restarting hal solved the problem.
Even previously and currently I have the white screen effect about 50% of the
cases. Let me know if you need any further info.

[Bug 217841] Re: Hardy recent update broke suspend to ram on Thinkpad T61p

2008-06-22 Thread Lorant Nemeth
Bug #235284 seems to be relevant.
That patch didn't help me personally , but

# apt-get install hal-info=20080317+git20080318-1ubuntu4
# /etc/init.d/hal restart

solved the problem.

[Bug 195783] Re: I see only a gray Applet Box

2008-05-21 Thread Lorant Nemeth
Hi,

I can confirm this problem with 64bit Hardy. I can see a grey box only,
and in the status bar: starting applet in case of
http://www.java.com/en/download/help/testvm.xml and Started: applet not
initialized in some other cases.

I use the 64 bit firefox3, with nvidia driver (from restricted modules)
and compiz enabled.

Please let me know if you need further info.

I just found this:

[Bug 131616] Re: Always prompted for Exchange password when composing new mail; never works

2008-02-20 Thread Lorant Nemeth
Hi,

same thing here. Let me summarize the problem and workarounds:

Problems:
1. GAL search does not work (neither via autocompletion nor via Contacts)
2. even if you disable autocompletion is disabled one get password prompts when
trying to create new mail

Problem #2:
- clearing the GAL address or removing domain part, turning off autocompletion
for GAL, than evolution --force-shutdown solves the problem

Problem #1:
- no know global workaround
- about gjabornis solution
(https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/evolution-exchange/+bug/131616/comments/9):
in our network I foudn these ports open on the GAL server and still GAL search
does not work:
PORT STATE SERVICE
53/tcp open domain
88/tcp open kerberos-sec
135/tcp open msrpc
139/tcp open netbios-ssn
382/tcp open hp-managed-node
383/tcp open hp-alarm-mgr
389/tcp open ldap
445/tcp open microsoft-ds
464/tcp open kpasswd5
593/tcp open http-rpc-epmap
636/tcp open ldapssl
1024/tcp open kdm
1025/tcp open NFS-or-IIS
1032/tcp open iad3

2301/tcp open compaqdiag
3268/tcp open globalcatLDAP
3269/tcp open globalcatLDAPssl
3389/tcp open ms-term-serv

Br,
  Loci

Ps.: I'm happy to test any new ideas, but I don't have access to neither
the exchange nor to the GAL server.

[Bug 193686] [NEW] nm-openvpn with preshared key doesn't work

2008-02-20 Thread Lorant Nemeth
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: network-manager-openvpn

Hi,

I can't get openvpn with preshared key working with network-manager
(from command line it works fine). Problem seems to be, that although I
don't use tls mode there's a parameter added (not configurable nor via
gui nor via gconf editor) which is valid only in tls mode
(ns_cert_type). See syslog output below:

[Bug 37821] Re: Regular network drops with madwifi

2007-11-29 Thread Lorant Nemeth
I might be related:

I have a netgear PCMCIA card and a netgear router. I use 7.10 and
wpa_supplicant with roaming configuration. Connection seems quite stable as
long as I'm browsing or reading mails, but:
- watching movie from an NFS share (to server is connected via UTP to the same
router) causes the link to be dropped every once in a while
- starting to copy from the NFS share (ie.: a movie) to the laptops disk causes
the link to be dropped in a few seconds. Link than comes up, lights show heavy
traffic and than link gets dropped in a few seconds againand so on.

The above symptoms (hardly any link drops on low traffic intensity, and
lots of drop on high int.) show me, that the driver has issues on high
load. As I said this might not be related, but I'm no expert, however,
I'm glad to provide more info or write a new bugreport in case you think
it's relevant.
