[Bug 996367] [NEW] [HDA-Intel - HDA Intel, playback] fails after a while

2012-05-08 Thread striscio
Public bug reported:

If I start the computer the sound is ok. If then I suspend, after resume the
sound in rhythmbox is clipped and distorted.
If I log out and log in again the sound is back to normal.
The strange thins is that if after suspend, when the sound is bad, I digit
aplay /usr/share/sounds/alsa/Front_Center.wav
the sound I hear is ok.
If I play the same mp3 that in rhythmbox is clipping with
mpg123 /my/favorite/song.mp3
the sound is ok.
If I play it with totem the sound is clipped
If I play it with vlc the sound is clipped but (it seems) less than with totem
and rhythmbox
If I play it with clvc (command line dummy interface) the sound is ok.

So it seems to me that this bug is somehow resource related. Heavier programs
has wirst sound.
Let me know if you need more info or more tests.
Thanks,

   Gianpaolo

2009-11-22 Thread striscio
I have the same problem with my Home Theater system: Asus M2NPV-VM with Nvidia
onboard video chipset. After the silver Mythbuntu logo the screen remains black
and X doesn't start. If I choose failsafe mode all I got are blinking VTs. I
will try tomorrow to change AGP settings, but it's difficult to understand such
a big step back in the installation experiences (it's the first time in two
years I can't install Ubuntu on that machine).
I tried with a livecd and with usb startup.

[Bug 106146] Re: Cannot mount cifs shares as normal user

2007-04-19 Thread striscio
Solved!
A normal user bust own the mount point to be able to mount cifs shares, even if
mount.cifs is setuid.
See
http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=403700
for details
IMHO if a share is defined as user mountable in fstab it should be mounted
despite the owner of the mount point (given write permission on the mount
point, of course).
In any case the error message is misleading.

[Bug 81564] network-admin fails to switch properly between profiles

2007-01-25 Thread striscio
Public bug reported:

I have a laptop with 2 network profiles.
A: wireless outbound connection and ethernet wired connection to home lan.
B: wired ethernet connection with adsl modem. no wireless connection.

If I first select profile B and then A it's all OK.
If I first select profile A, when I switch to profile B wireless interface is
still up which is not correct (in my case it causes additional problems due to
ip/netmask overlapping between interfaces), because in profile B wireless
connection is set as not active.
