GSM modem -- which one?
Hi All! I am seeking some good advice. I am looking for the most stable GSM modem available on the market. -Do you have any recommendations? or any links that support one modem for another (some comparisons would be nice!)? Good links also appriciated! PS: This is _not_ only in use with kannel but also in a greater perspective. I've done some Java implementations etc.. -Thanks in advance! :-) -- Steffen Larsen, UNIX Software Engineer TELMORE A/S Carl Gustavs Gade 3 2630 Taastrup www.telmore.dk - [EMAIL PROTECTED]

Hi! I am using Siemens MC35 terminal modem. Works very nice- have tested it for both SMS and wap gateway. Works with no problem. This is my experience... Regards, Nejc Menard GENERA Lynx d.o.o. Re: GSM Modem
Hi Amit, I don't think any GSM modem can achieve that rate. For accepting Sendsms request, kannel will be that fast, but when actually sending SMS (AT command), it will be much slower. I personally tested this with Nokia 7110. Kannel accepted around 100 sendsms request very fast, but finally sent messages at around 4-5 sec/message. Any more comments from the list. Re: GSM Modem
And, to support Sridhar, as the modem it self uses SIM and Air Interface to send msgs to the actual SMSC ( as MO as if from a mobile) I believe that the speed might be lesser than 4/5 msgs per second. Anybody else has comments/experiance? the GSM modem falls asleep?
Goodmorning to all, I use a Nokia 6310i as a GSM modem for Kannel (v1.1.6) on at2 driver. I am using the basic configuration, as described in the user guide; the only difference is that i have defined the 'keepalive' and 'keepalive-cmd'. The problem is as follows: The first messages are dealt as they should be, but if the modem is kept inactive for one or two hours, it becomes aware of the messages that follow after many hours (eg. I sent a message at 21.00, the respond came back at 21.01.. I sent a message at 22.00 and the respond came back at 24.00!!). I attach my conf file..Does anyone have an idea of what might be wrong?? kannelnokia.conf Description: Binary data
WAP kannel + GSM Modem
Hi all, I am trying to use Kannel as WAPSMS Gateway. Initially i started with SMS Gateway, using a GSM phone as modem and (after some trials) everything was ok. Now i am testing kannel as WAP gateway. The idea is to establish a PPP connection (dial-in) between a WAP phone and the GSM phone (connected to kannel) used as modem. But i had many problems I followed the instructions on the Kannel User Guide (about Setting up a dial-up line) but after i added the line S0:2345:respawn:/sbin/mgetty ttyS0 -x 6 -D /dev/ttyS0 to the file /etc/inittab (and the others explained on the guide) the GSM modem (Ericsson T39) doesn't answer automatically to the call of WAP phone (Nokia 9210) Probably i have a problem with mgetty. Problem with Wavecom WMOD2 GSM Modem
Please help ! I am struggling with getting Kannel to work with the Wavecom WDMOD2 GSM modem. Everything seems to be working fine except for receiving SMS messages. It seems that Kannel does not get the incoming SMS message from the modem. I can send messages no problem and I have tried different configuration file entries, etc. but nothing seems to work. I have looked at the documentation but cannot find any answers. The configuration I have: Linux Red Hat 7.2 Kannel 1.0.3 Any suggestions ? Any help will be much appreciated !!! Regards, Shai
RE: Problem with Wavecom WMOD2 GSM Modem
My first suggestion would be to upgrade to the latest CVS snapshot - there have been some major rewrites in the AT2 module conserning support for wavecom modems, which are not included even in the official 1.1.6 version. Also, next time when you post technical questions about problems with kannel, please show your configuration file (as most problems are caused by misconfiguration - the Kannel documentation leaves much to be desired in configuration help), and parts of the relevant logs. Can you recommend a GSM modem
Hi We are running Kannel 1.1.6 development version for receiving messages through a Nokia 6210 and it has been working great. We are now looking at using the system for SMS Push. Testing has been going OK using the Nokia 6210, but we would really like a GSM modem for reliability (we lost one phone battery through leaving it constantly on charge). Can anyone recommend a GSM Modem they know works with Kannel 1.1.6, where to buy it from to have it delivered in the UK and what sort of cost we are looking at. TIA Rich _ This message has been checked for all known viruses by UUNET delivered through the MessageLabs Virus Control Centre. I installed 1.1.6 after downloading with CVS. I now added the php-admin, which works, too. next question: - what if I want to make bearerbox and smsbox start at runlevel 3? perhaps someone knows the answer, othrwise I will ask my local unixmaster... so far thnx for your help!
