I lost one part of a document
Dear team, I write you to inform that I encountered a big problem with an open office document : it was 30 pages and I opened it this morning and… 28 pages have disappeared with no intervention at all ! What can I do ? HELP ... in finals month and Apache has gone crazy on me. Every save file leaves a The Last Time you opened OpenOffice, it unexpectedly quit ... CANNOT delete this persistent message!!! OpenOffice 4.0.1 will not save nor will it acknowledge hard drive files to an open file listing. I have to just quit file, THEN OpenOffice will ask me where I would like to save file. Only after giving up and trying to exit text file am I offered option to save. Open will not offer file type or location dropbox. Probably the page format was modified. Please make sure if you have A4 or Letter. Another option could be some image turned into a float, clearing some whitespace. without having the document this is a guessing game, but those are some of the things that could have have happened. Beware, you're not subscribed to the list, you may miss replies like the one below. Can you give more details? Had the file time stamp been changed reflecting a save? Personally, I experienced this only once with an old version of OOo (on xubuntu IIRC). What's your version and operating system? NB: please reply to the list (and subscribe if possible...). If this is correct the following is the solution. If you are not running a mac, then please post back to the list with the version of AOO ans the operating system that you are using. You need to delete the file org.openoffice.script.savedState. When I try to use Openoffice on my Mac Pro, it keeps telling me: The application “OpenOffice” unexpectedly quit while trying to restore its windows. Do you want to try to restore its windows again? It asks if I want to Restore Windows or Don't Restore Windows, but does not do anything when i click on one of the tabs. Please help.
