XVideo looks bad with 100% scale When I play a movie with mplayer -vo xv, not fullscreen, image looks like badly scaled (disorted slant lines etc). But window size is equal to movie size. Doesn't happen with another video card and with X 4.2.1. Unfortunately I can't take a screenshot ;). How are you scaling? Software scaling or hardware scaling? Are you trying to scale a 16:9 or such movie to 4:3? 3. XFS breaks Type1 fonts. With 4.2.1: http://www.filip.eu.org/xdm.jpg With 4.2.99.4: http://www.filip.eu.org/xdmb.jpg Note that using direct FontPath to font files in XF86Config solves the problem (in 4.2.99.4). Or do I have to use the 'novideo' option in the kernel arguments like the YDL site recomends? I'm confused on this issue. Also, is it only necessary to use '#define XF86ExtraCardDrivers nv' in the host.def with the PPC platform? Will this change in the 4.3 release? This has not, so far, changed: my Debian packages still patch this. IMHO it should change. As to your GeForce2 problem, I can't really ascertain as to what it is, but I eventually got my GeForce4 in my PowerMac working, using offb. Using rivafb just caused difficulties. Hi Patrick, Unfortunately, Radeon 9200 support is not included in the base XFree86 4.3.0 distribution. Adding it on is a job for various distributors - Debian and Red Hat add it on, but apparently SuSE haven't. I think your best bet would be to contact your distributor directly and ask them to include Hui Yu's Radeon patchset; if they don't know where to get it, point them at me. I know what I'd be gunning for, if I had a BComm, or whatever. Try putting the engine of a Japanese car into an American made car. Then complain to Nissan that it doesn't work, and see how far you get. Nissan did make the V8 engine for the Holden VL Commodore, a typical Australian grunt car. :) If anything they'd likely get sued by 3rd party vendors whom they've licensed code and/or patented technology from, which they do not have the right to give away to the public. That includes both software, and hardware interfaces as well. Only the particular hardware vendor in question knows what IP they have in their hardware and drivers, and what they can do with that IP legally. It'd probably be useful to see all changes relative to the standard XFree86 source. Unless there's something specifically in the parser's Imakefile to turn on building a shared version of the library, or something in the .cf/.tmpl/.rules files to always build shared libraries, then I don't see why it would even be trying to do what you're seeing. It was a very subtle breakage; I changed #if DoSharedLib to #if (DoSharedLib || DoPicLib) in one too many places, it seems. Debian requires us to use PIC almost unconditionally, sadly.
