Another issue that you might face is one of multiple bots posting for

Thanks for sharing your thought, John.

I've gotta clarify I've got enough sense not to spam public tags and
in any case would be using namespaced tags (my_bot:tag1, my_bot:tag2
...) Would I introduce a new citizen to delicious it'd be as quiet and
polite as possible. And would definetely not mess with the popular
category :)

there are a few irc bots and the like posting to delicious automaticall.

generally, people ignore list these things the most, so i think the sentiment
is that they are not particularly appreciated.

On the other hand, especially with irc bots, some of these things are probably
there because some small community of people, like the regulars on an irc
channel, find them useful. They've agreed on some specific tagging strategies
and implemented them programatically.

I'm not sure that's counter to my desired del.icio.us experience. I have a hard
time coming up with a reason to exclude them or frown on them.

All cool interenet tech is eventually turned to evil when there isn't
strategies in place. I understand the nofollow tag is in place, but
not all spamming is about google pr.

Just some thoughts...
