I've noticed over the last week or so the time my Acer XP Pro system is
taking to boot up and get JAWS going has increased tremendously. I tried it
with JAWS 8 as I heard 9 lags a bit but this made no difference. Only
other thing I did lately was install AVG antispyware and IE 7. I've
On my WinXP machine I can also open and play .mid files in RealPlayer and
Windows Media Player.

Ok. Are you actually having trouble finding the file to be able to open it,
or does it just seem blank after you open it?
Since it sounds like you can open the file, but that it just 'appears'
blank, the first thing I'd suggest is that you make sure that the WordPad
window is in fact
The only thing I can sort of suggest is to check the Event log (if you're
running WinXP).
Start menu, Programs, Administrative tools, Event Viewer.
Then in the treeview on the left, you can check out either the Application
events, or the System events, and you could even try clearing their
Hi, a friend of mine got jaws 9 and he has lynksys and lynksys was working
fine he was able to get online and everything until he installeed jaws 9.
After that, every time he tried to get online, he couldn't. He had to
reinstall the lynksys drivers from cd all over again. Could this be

Did you move it into a folder that's what I do once I send in my lessons
Also did you try rebooting some times that might fix different things or put
them back where they should be.
Just some ideas.

Hi,
No, it's not a merger.
Ok.
What software are you actually using to try and produce these files, and
have you actually tried playing them on another machine?
I don't really know much about this stuff - sorry.
The only .mid files I have on my machine are some things that I think are
meant to be used as ringtones on
Hi, John. I'll try rebooting and see what that does. Thanks for your

Not a problem Jacob. The difficulty was in my software as you suspected. I
am using Real Player, Version 10.5. I called the support center and they
helped me straighten things out. Now, it plays MIDI files without trouble.
As for assigning voices, MIDI has 16 channels which operate
Rosemarie,
Is there any chance that the file is an image file instead of a text file?
I believe image files are not viewable with JFW. Also, have you tried
jumping to the bottom of the document to see if there is any text down
there?

Hi, everyone. I found only part of the file in word instead of wordpad. I
was hoping to be read the entire file but I only got as far as the date.
What do I do now to find the rest of the file? Any help with this would be
