sounds like that is the sink the washer uses. Also sounds like the clog is
farther out than where the sink and the floor drain join the exit
piping.

Yes Dale,
The sink empties into the laundry room floor drain.
And, yes, the plumber put the snake through the laundry room fllor drain!
And, we've tried

If he could run a power auger or snake for 8 feet and then it
stopped there is a real problem. Especially if he was able to clear
roots along the main drain line.
Has this become an issue over time or was it a sudden stop. By the
sounds of things if roots
might consider putting on a anti-siphon valve.

I hate to be a barer of bad news, but your friend sounds as he is telling you
the way it is. You might want to run a manual snake through the pipe and see if

Hi Claudia,
You said that you were emptying out the contents of the bucket into the
basin or sink.
Is that basin or sink close enough that you can run the hose directly into
it, and if it is, is it large enough to hold the water that will be
generated by a large load?
If it isn't large
the floor kept coming
back up, through the laundry room drain.

Do you have any big trees around this area? Also, how far down below ground
level is this drain? You mentioned a basement, that's got to be at least 8
feet below ground level unless your foundation is really elevated. I'm
wondering if this area where the snake couldn't go any further is an

Okay,
I'll admit that I have no ideas about plumbing. We've owned this house, for 5
years now, and we did have to have our drain rooted out, a couple of years ago!
The problem with the drain in the laundry room didn't start all of a sudden.
It'd been going

Hi,
How would you even go about running a new floor drain, and where would it

Is the wash room in the basement? Is there a waste stack in the basement? If
so, run the washer pipe to the stack a get what is known as a saddle and drill
a hole
there and
won't drain out.
