The first-edition copies of 16th century astronomer Nicolaus Copernicus' renowned treatise in Latin, "De revolutionibus orbium coelestium" (On the Revolutions of Heavenly Spheres) have vanished from collections across the globe. In Poland, a reader said he had to use the bathroom and made off with the treasured volume. A thief in Kiev, Ukraine, pilfered the book using a fake police ID. The latest theft of the book, published in 1543 and valued at up to $400,000, was discovered earlier this month in Russia. Russian police say they have appealed to Interpol for help in locating that book, which disappeared from the Academy of Sciences Library in St. Petersburg. Police would give no further details. At least seven of the 260 known copies of the 1543 edition of "De revolutionibus" have disappeared in recent years, including one copy each from the University of Illinois at Champaign-Urbana and the Mittag-Leffler Institute in Stockholm, Sweden, according to Owen Gingerich, a professor at the Harvard-Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics in Cambridge, Mass. Five copies remain missing. Some police have speculated that a ring of thieves and collectors is behind the rash of thefts or that the books may have been stolen on some collectors' orders. However, Gingerich says there is no evidence to suggest an international conspiracy to steal copies of the treatise, which describes Copernicus' then-revolutionary theory that the Sun, not the Earth, was at the center of the universe. Gingerich has worked for a quarter-century compiling a list of all known copies of the first- and second-editions of the work, a quest that has taken him to cities and libraries worldwide and has helped him trace at least two stolen copies. While the book is a tempting target for thieves because of its value, it's also "a very dangerous title to steal," Gingerich said in an Internet interview, noting that his census can help identify any known copy, making it risky to try to sell a stolen copy at auction or on the international antique market. Still, the disappearances continue. The theft in Poland occurred in November 1998 at the Polish Academy of Sciences' library in Krakow, where a man in his 40s asked to read a first-edition copy of "De Revolutionibus" valued at $320,000. Sometime later, the reader said he had to visit the toilet and disappeared. He left behind his belongings and the book's covers, said Krakow's deputy police head Eugeniusz Szczerbak. Three months earlier, a man walked out of the Ukrainian National Library in Kiev carrying a first-edition Copernicus. The thief had an apparently fake police ID and appeared to be well-acquainted with the library's security arrangements. Librarians said he requested six books, including the Copernicus. He then returned the books to secure a receipt, took a break and came back to request more books, including the Copernicus. The man vanished with the rare book just before closing time, apparently showing the guard the initial receipt to prove he had returned it. Gingerich has helped trace at least two stolen copies. One copy that surfaced on the book market in 1997 came from the Brno University Library in the Czech Republic. It had been returned by the library, which kept the book during Communist times, to the original owner,

Bush had buried the mainstream media's candidate, John McCain, in a two-to-one landslide. The final count was Bush: 51 percent, McCain: 24 percent, Forbes: 21 percent and Keyes: 4 percent. (Don't bother looking for the results in your local newspaper or on network TV -- the mainstream media are treating them as "Most Secret," for their eyes only, not to be disseminated to the proles under any circumstances). Even McCain's 18-point margin in New Hampshire was dwarfed by Bush's massive 27-point win. Doesn't count, huffed the media. McCain didn't campaign in Delaware. Which of course leads in to the question that the media did not have to answer because they saw to it that it didn't get asked: why didn't McCain campaign in Delaware? The answer should be quite apparent to anyone who is familiar with such things. In Delaware the Republican primary is restricted to Republicans. Democrats masquerading as Republicans are not allowed to pick the GOP candidate as they are in states such as New Hampshire and South Carolina. California will be an interesting test case. At present the law states that "independents" may vote in the GOP primary, but only the Republican votes would count in selecting delegates for the GOP national convention. This has spurred a number of left-wing zealots in the Bay Area to queue-up in order to switch their registration to Republican at the last minute. (They've been at loose ends since the collapse of Communism). But help may be on the way. There is a move underway in the Democrat-controlled state legislature to allow the Democr...er, "independents" to select the delegates to the GOP convention. Some may call it "democracy." I prefer to call it by its rightful name: vote fraud. Stung by the double digit drubbing he received in New Hampshire at the hands of Democrats voting in the Republican primary for Senator John McCain under the guise of "independents," Texas Gov. George W. Bush hit back hard last week. McCain, says George Dubya, is a big hypocrite for taking contributions from the fat cats even as he denounces the practice as corrupt. McCain responded with a smirk (that went unnoted by the press) that Bush is displaying "a little sign of desperation." No doubt the senator is correct, but how does that answer the charge of hypocrisy? Even CBSNEWS.com was unwilling to give McCain a pass on that one. They noted that his rejoinder "may be true. But it's not a substantive response." Of course, CBS wound up concluding that McCain's decision to say one thing and do another was completely justified on purely pragmatic grounds. What else is one to expect of boomer brats raised on situation "ethics" and "moral" relativism? The WOW! (Gee) response of the mainstream media puppeteers to McCain's big win was nowhere more obvious than at the New York Times which gushed on and on about the fact that three weekly "news" magazines had placed the senator's mug shot on their covers, as though this were some sort of spontaneous natural phenomena and not part of a well-oiled propaganda campaign to pick the weakest Republican candidate and then bushwack him in the general election. The last time they (partially) succeeded in this strategy was 1952, when Eisenhower, an outsider, beat Sen. Robert Taft (known at the time as "Mr. Republican") for the GOP nomination, with the help of a media propaganda blizzard. As soon as Ike was nominated the media, which only a few weeks previously had been singing in unison his fulsome praise, turned on him with a vengeance. Ike, after all, was just a big dumb military doofus who didn't understand diddley squat about running a nation, they implied. Some insolent punk kid reporter put a question to the candidate, concluding with words to the effect that, of course, he couldn't be expected to understand the intricacies of politics. Ike fixed him with a look of utter incredulity (the best expression in his repertoire) and asked, using a tone of voice much favored by drill instructors, "How the [bleepity-bleep] do you think I got to be a five-star general?" Those who cleared the American educational system prior to the Great Dumbing-Down will recall that Eisenhower cleaned the clock of Democratic candidate Adlai Stevenson that year, carrying with him both houses of Congress. However, there is reason to doubt that history will repeat itself with McCain in the starring role this time. For one thing, the only argument the

Some 85 million U.S. residents -- 30 percent of the population -- have joined the mobile-phone revolution. Still, Americans have been relatively slow to go wireless. Even a decade ago, when U.S. cell-phone use was a rarity, 10 percent of Swedes had taken the wireless plunge, says Maria Feychting of the Karolinska Institute in Stockholm. Today, Nordic countries remain Western leaders, with 40 percent of Danes, half of Norwegians and Swedes, and almost 60 percent of Finns using cell phones. Many of these people are also reporting side effects, observes Monica Sandström of the Swedish National Institute for Working Life in Umeå. Last week at a Bioelectromagnetics Society symposium in Washington, D.C., she unveiled data from her agency's new survey of cell-phone users -- 5,000 in Norway and another 12,000 in Sweden. One-quarter of the Norwegian users, she noted, feel warmth on or behind the ear when they use their phones. More troubling, she said, 20 percent also linked frequent headaches and recurring fatigue to cell-phone use. Her agency saw the same trends in Sweden, though the overall rates were somewhat lower, Sandström notes. At least one of the symptoms noted, which include dizziness, concentration difficulties, memory loss, and a burning sensation, showed up in 47 percent of people who reported using these wireless devices an hour or more daily. Cellular phones, which send and receive radiofrequency (RF) signals via their attached antennas, come in digital and analog varieties. The newer, digital phones broadcast their communications in discrete bursts of energy, whereas analog devices employ continuous signals. Being energy hogs, analog phones also beam eight times as much energy into the user's head as digital phones do. Overall, "people using analog phones reported more symptoms and more sensations of all kinds," Sandström says. However, she's quick to add, "we didn't measure RF emissions." Any headaches or other complaints might therefore trace to factors such as occupational stress, ergonomic issues, and even the warmth given off by a phone's battery. Yet cell phones' RF emissions clearly can affect the brain, says Alan W. Preece of the University of Bristol in England. Last April, he published a study in which devices simulated a phone's RF emissions, in either digital or analog form, while volunteers sat at a computer. The researchers could switch the RF energy on or off without a user knowing. "I was looking for memory effects but didn't find any," Preece notes. Instead, to his surprise, RF emissions from both digital and analog signals correlated with a cut in the time it took users to answer simple questions. The improvement was small, just 15 milliseconds. Since then, he notes, a Finnish group recorded a similar drop in reaction time among people during RF exposures. And a few weeks ago, a statistical expert "acting on behalf of the Department of Health here [in Britain] reanalyzed my data," Preece told Science News. "He came up with the same results." While hardly a hazard, the quickened reaction times demonstrate that cell-phone emissions are biologically active, Preece says. He's now probing what's going on, scouting for changes in blood flow within the brain. He's especially interested in the angular gyrus, a structure important to decision making. Other scientists last week reported biological effects in animals triggered by bombardment with energy at power levels and frequencies typical of cell phones. W. Ross Adey of the University of California, Riverside, for instance, showed that a pregnant rat's exposure to phone-like radiation at any of three power levels alters the activity of an enzyme -- ornithine decarboxylase -- in the fetuses' brains. This enzyme helps create polyamines, which are chemical markers of stress. Surprisingly, Adey noted, the lowest input of RF energy, 0.16 watts per kilogram of tissue, triggered the biggest changes in polyamine concentration. He speculates that increased enzyme

ROCKFELLER AND MASS MURDER The Rockefeller Foundation is the prime sponsor of public relations for the United Nations' drastic depopulation program, which the world is invited to accept at the UN's scheduled September conference in Cairo, Egypt. Evidence in the possession of a growing number of researchers in America, England, and Germany demonstrates that the Foundation and its corporate, medical, and political associates organized the racial mass murder program of Nazi Germany. These globalists, who function as a conduit for British Empire geopolitics, were not stopped after World War II. The United Nations alliance of the old Nazi rightwing with the New Age leftwing poses an even graver danger to the world today than the same grouping did in 1941. Oil monopolist John D. Rockefeller created the family-run Rockefeller Foundation in 1909. By 1929 he had placed $300 million worth of the family's controlling interest in the Standard Oil Company of New Jersey (later called "Exxon") to the account of the Foundation. The Foundation's money created the medical specialty known as Psychiatric Genetics. For the new experimental field, the Foundation reorganized medical teaching in Germany, creating and thenceforth continuously directing the "Kaiser Wilhelm Institute for Psychiatry" and the "Kaiser Wilhelm Institute for Anthropology, Eugenics and Human Heredity." The Rockefellers' chief executive of these institutions was the fascist Swiss psychiatrist Ernst Rudin, assisted by his proteges Otmar Verschuer and Franz J. Kallmann. In 1932, the British-led "Eugenics" movement designated the Rockefellers' Dr. Rudin as the president of the worldwide Eugenics Federation. The movement called for the killing or sterilization of people whose heredity made them a public burden. THE RACIAL LAWS A few months later, Hitler took over Germany and the Rockefeller-Rudin apparatus became a section of the Nazi state. The regime appointed Rudin head of the Racial Hygiene Society. Rudin and his staff, as part of the Task Force of Heredity Experts chaired by SS chief Heinrich Himmler, drew up the sterilization law. Described as an American Model law, it was adopted in July 1933 and proudly printed in the September 1933 Eugenical News (USA) with Hitler's signature. The Rockefeller group drew up other race laws, also based on existing Virginia statutes. Otmar Verschuer and his assistant Josef Mengele together wrote reports for special courts which enforced Rudin's racial purity law against cohabitation of Aryans and non-Aryans. The "T4" unit of the Hitler Chancery, based on psychiatrists led by Rudin and his staff, cooperated in creating propaganda films to sell mercy killing (euthanasia) to German citizens. The public reacted antagonistically: Hitler had to withdraw a tear-jerker right-to-die film from the movie theaters. The proper groundwork had not yet been laid. Under the Nazis, the German chemical company I.G. Farben and Rockefeller's Standard Oil of New Jersey were effectively a single firm, merged in hundreds of cartel arrangements. I.G. Farben was led up until 1937 by the Warburg family, Rockefeller's partner in banking and in the design of Nazi German eugenics. Following the German invasion of Poland in 1939, Standard Oil pledged to keep the merger with I.G. Farben going even if the U.S. entered the war. This was exposed in 1942 by Sen. Harry Truman's investigating committee, and President Roosevelt took hundreds of legal measures during the war to stop the Standard-I.G. Farben cartel from supplying the enemy war machine. In 1940-41, I.G. Farben built a gigantic factory at Auschwitz in Poland, to utilize the Standard Oil/I.G. Farben patents with concentration camp slave labor to make gasoline from coal. The SS was assigned to guard the Jewish and other inmates and select for killing those who were unfit for I.G. Farben slave labor. Standard-Germany president Emil Helfferich testified after the war that Standard Oil funds helped pay for SS guards at Auschwitz. In 1940, six months after the notorious Standard-I.G. meeting, European Rockefeller Foundation official Daniel O'Brian wrote to the Foundation's chief medical officer Alan Gregg that "it would be unfortunate if it was chosen to stop research which has no relation to war issues" so the Foundation continued financing Nazi "psychiatric research" during the war. He reported that he found 149 machines that were listening on port 34555, but that the number of machines actually infected may have been substantially less because of possibility of false positives. 2. He also reported that he discovered 16 of the computers (all running Windows, and at least 5 running Windows98) "sending out large numbers of UDP packets on random ports." 3. He noted that all 16 machines were infected with the BackOrifice remote control Trojan. 4. After removing BackOrifice from one of the machines, he discovered the computer again participating in a UDP flood. That led to the discovery of a program that was reported to CERT as a possible variant of the trinoo distributed denial of service tool. CERT is analyzing this. Gary's technical expertise and rapid response is helping the entire community to be better informed. Will the next 100 years bring about new super-human species with the rest of mankind enslaved or dead? Eugenics is back! A new species looms on the horizon. Eugenics is alive and well, and especially in countries that are free of liberalism and the roadblocks put up by the radical environmentalists. They see it as a challenge to their own intellectual dominance as well as a threat to the established dogma that all people are alike, except for opportunity. Eugenics in the West is being practiced at the prenatal stage, where genetic disease is tested for and the child aborted if it is abnormal. But this is a form of negative eugenics and for me at least not very exciting in the whole of eugenics. It would be a much better world if we could eliminate many genetic diseases; especially childhood diseases that cost society so much in resources that could be better spent on children that can someday contribute fully to the nation's well being. We need productive citizens that can pay for the life that they have been given. On the other side -- positive eugenics -- forward thinking couples will chose mates that are compatible for raising intelligent and healthy children. Fundamentally this means looking at your mate's intelligence and health, including looking at their family history to see if they are unique or typical. If typical for the family the better chance the genes have been filtered through generations of quality breeding and not just a statistical fluke. But none of the above will do much to increase the overall average intelligence of the nation when the nations average IQ is declining as it is from a policy of social dysgenics. Large numbers of immigrants with an average low IQ are allowed into the United States each year. And the underclass already here, with a low IQ, is supported by the taxpayers to have as many children as they want, without any concern about the social costs of having children that will never be productive in a highly technical world. America is in decline, but other nations are on the rise. China, with 1/6 of the World's population is pursuing social eugenics in an aggressive way (as are Taiwan and Singapore also). Free of liberalism and the decadence of the West, and also free of the radical environmentalism once promoted by the Jewish controlled Soviet form of Communism, the more nationalist Chinese are determined to have a strong and vital workforce to the detriment of other competing nations. I came across several articles that highlight the differences between eugenics in the West and in the East at http://www.uio.no/~oleg/demography.html . The first one is entitled "A plan for controlling the ratio of sexes" by Professor Xiong Ping. Professor Ping has an interesting approach to increasing intelligence and health in the Peoples Republic of China (PRC). This vision of a race of supermen is not idle dreaming in China, as we shall see. Professor Ping proposes that two children be allowed for each family. The first child will be a natural birth without choosing the sex, but the second birth will be controlled such that the number of excess males will equal the number of physically and mentally disabled, a proportion of about 10%. The logic is, that males are freely chosen by females, and with an excess of males, females will not choose mentally or physically handicapped mates and these undesirable male types will not reproduce, an aggressive but in some ways passive form of state mandated eugenics. The important point is that China is aggressively pursuing a social eugenics program that far surpasses any other that I am aware of. They seem to be free of Western egalitarian dogma that ignores the nation's cognitive capital. Professor Ping says, "China's government asks parents to give birth only to well-developed children, but we are far from the goal. It is of great importance to lower the quantity and improve the quality, which has much to do with the prosperity of the Chinese people, the future of the human race, and the happiness of millions of families. Modern civilizations also have negative effects on the question of population quality. In the past, medical conditions were very poor. Human society evolved according to Darwin's theory of 'survival of the fittest.' The most weak and disabled children died before reaching reproductive age. But now, with superior medical techniques, they can survive and produce another generation. Unavoidably there will be a degeneration in human genes, which will result in the decrease of population quality." Many doctors around the nation agree that "compassionate" ending of "futile" lives by direct injection is beneficial to all concerned. Now Princeton University has appointed its first full-time, tenured professor of bioethics: Dr. Peter Singer, the intellectual leader of the arbiters of death who now are advancing upon us. He teaches -- I kid you not -- at the Center for Human Values. Singer, an Australian, is a former president of the International Association of Bioethics. He is also the principal founder of the animal liberation movement -- which says animals have rights that must be respected. Singer is best known internationally, however, as a pervasively influential advocate -- through books, articles, and speeches -- of infanticide. He does not urge the killing of all infants, just certain disabled babies. Down's syndrome infants, for example, or human beings born with severe forms of spina bifida, an incomplete closure of the spine. He does not dispute the right of parents to keep such defective offspring if they choose. Indeed, in Should the Baby Live? (Oxford University Press), he and his colleague, Helga Kuhse, suggest that "a period of 28 days after birth might be allowed before an infant is accepted as having the same right to live as others." During that period, the parents or parent would have time to figure out whether it would be worth it, financially and emotionally, to keep the damaged offspring. If not, they will be permitted to have the infant killed. After all, department stores have return privileges. Singer says that should the parents and their physicians decide this kid would have too miserable a life, there ought not be practical ethical qualms about disposing of him or her. As he has emphasized in his book Practical Ethics (Second Edition, Cambridge University Press): "Human beings are not born self-aware, or capable of grasping that they exist over time. [Newborns] are not persons." But animals are persons. They are self-aware, and therefore, "the life of a newborn is of less value than the life of a pig, a dog, or a chimpanzee." Professor Singer does not limit his prescription of death to imperfect infants. He is also an advocate in certain cases for killing humans at any age. If someone is so sick, so miserable, so without hope, why not permit a doctor, within certain limitations, to provide pills or other medication that will end the discussion -- and that person's life? An argument against legalizing assisted suicide is the fact that many physicians do not have any expertise in the many advances in pain relief. And many doctors are unable to diagnose clinical depression, which can be treated if you know how. But assisted suicide is especially seductive when, in this time of HMOs and other managed care, the pressure is mounting to not waste time, bed space, and money on patients who would be "better off dead." Yet, in our present "death culture" -- to use a phrase of Wesley Smith, who writes with great authority and clarity on that culture -- there is also a growing support for active euthanasia. That is, why not permit the doctor to not only give the death pills to a patient but also to actually be present and inject the patient directly with death? It certainly seems that ideas of health go back and forth like other trends. For instance, there is a growing body of evidence that a high carbohydrate diet, recommended by everyone from the American Heart Association to the strictest macrobiotic, may not be as healthy as we once thought. Now, some important studies have been done which emphasize the importance of that much-maligned substance, salt. + It is common practice to recommend a low salt diet (or more specifically, a low sodium diet, since we are talking here about sodium chloride, or table salt) in the general population, and particularly in hypertension. It is known that populations with lower salt intake have lower blood pressures generally. However, there is no good evidence that lowering a salt intake will lower blood pressure significantly, and certainly little evidence that it will modify the ill effects of high blood pressure, like heart attacks and strokes. Now comes a study from the medical journal Hypertension which shows that hypertensive people who lowered their salt intake most suffered the most heart attacks, almost four times the amount experienced by the group with the highest salt intake! + This result did not come totally unsurprising. It is known that about half of hypertensives and a quarter of the population as a whole are "salt-sensitive", that is, their system overreacts to salt by raising blood pressure. The rest of us don't seem to react much to salt. However, in this "sensitive" population, increasing potassium, magnesium and calcium intake seems to control the sensitivity. So, taking adequate doses of these minerals (about 3500 mg potassium, 800-1000 mg for calcium, 1200-1500 mg calcium for post-menopausal women, and 500-800 mg magnesium) seem like a better idea, along with a moderate level of salt intake. + The kidney has a delicate mechanism (called the renin-angiotensin system) for maintaining pressure in the blood vessels. Artificially lowering one element of the system (sodium) causes an elevated renin level, and thus the kidney works harder to retain the salt that it has. In other words, the hypertension is a sign that a hormonal system is out of balance, and thinking we can starve it into submission may be naive. Sodium is necessary enough that a major adrenal steroid hormone, aldosterone, is devoted to its regulation and retention. Many studies show the necessity of dietary salt, from population studies showing a tendancy toward shorter life span in people eating low-salt diets, to animal studies showing growth failure with sodium restriction. Multiple studies earlier this century showed fatigue and mental dulling to result from salt depletion diets. Calling the idea a "myth that had become dogma for the medical community and the public alike", Dr McCarron said that an international study involving 10,000 people in 52 countries, had failed to demonstrate the link. "Its investigators concluded that sodium intake was not significantly related to median blood pressure or prevalence of high blood pressure," he said. A number of studies had shown that blood pressure was reduced only very slightly, by one millimetre of mercury, when salt intake was reduced by 30 to 50 per cent. Nor was there evidence that reducing salt intake reduced heart attacks, he said. Some had actually shown an increase. April 19th will mark the last day in which a total of 82 men women and children were viciously slaughtered. Forty-one women and children, senselessly murdered in what became their concrete tomb. Charred remnants of a child's doll was all that remained in tact after our government came to "save" the children. All of their voices were savagely silenced. Let's end their silence, and bring to the public our voices! I was contacted this month from a radio show host from Las Vegas named "Lady Liberty". She has come up with an excellent idea to organize a walk or march down the main streets of our own home towns all over the nation beginning February 28, 2000, and ending April 19, 1993. Each city will march on different days. The Tucson rally is tentatively set for around March 25th, a Saturday. (I will be in Waco on April 19th, so I cannot schedule one then) I am still working out the details of where to set it up, and would appreciate suggestions and feedback. If your organization has a Tucson or Phoenix office, please notify them of this e-mail. This will be a walk for freedom to awaken the public and to commemorate and memorialize all the civilians who have been murdered, tortured, or brutalized by city, county, and state governments and federal jack-booted thugs. By Jean Duffey Turns out that Jay Campbell isn't the "great guy," the "good Christian," the "caring person," the "trusted officer," etc., etc., etc., attested to by FBI Agent MIKE SMITH and another ten or so law enforcement officers at trial last summer. Now we understand why not one officer from Campbells own department (The Pulaski County Sheriffs Department) testified for him as a character witness. They apparently know Campbells real character, but that didn't bother MIKE. Seems MIKE's pal, Jay Campbell has been intimidating fellow officers and falsifying department records. The Arkansas Democrat-Gazette reported that Campbell was fired for compiling "a blacklist of deputies who worked off-duty jobs for less than the office's recommended minimum pay rate" of $25 an hour. Campbell "attempted to enforce these minimum pay rates on deputies . . . through intimidation and the use of (his) authority by virtue of (his) rank . . . ." Surely MIKE's good buddy was just trying to uphold high standards for the department. Fraid not. The Arkansas Democrat-Gazette says, "at the same time Campbell published the blacklist, he was working off-duty (himself) at the Little Rock Convention Center for less than $25 an hour." Seems MIKE's colleague is no more than a thug with double standards. MIKE's friend also has no qualms about lying. The Arkansas Democrat-Gazette says, Campbell approved "employment for four deputies at the Planet Earth nightclub. Department policy forbids deputies from working off-duty at bars," so Campbell falsified the officers requests by characterizing the nightclub as "a restaurant." A liar is a liar is a liar, but with so many impressive character witnesses at trial vouching for his veracity, Linda and I couldn't get the jury to see the real Jay Campbell. We also had numerous affidavits attesting to Campbell and his former partner, Kirk Lane, using violent threats and intimidation against witnesses. We tried to get the evidence introduced, but the judge disallowed it as being too prejudicial. Some of the affidavits were sworn to by witnesses who had no reason what-so-ever to do anything but simply come forward with the truth. The jury heard little else about the character of Campbell and Lane than what the string of seemingly upstanding, forthright law enforcement officers had to say about the flawless virtues of their cronies. A Then and Now Recap: Then, a parade of public officials testified as character witnesses for Dan Harmon when his law license was suspended. They were later proven to be either fools or liars. The same is now true for the character witnesses for Campbell. (I would especially like to know which MIKE SMITH claims to be, a fool or a liar. If anyone finds out, please let me know.) Then, Harmon was vigorously protected by State Drug Czar Robert Shepherd, who pretended to me that he wanted Harmon indicted. Shepherd requested a meeting with me, asking for information my task force had developed, but I already knew Shepherd's real intentions and gave him nothing. Now, Campbell has and is being protected by the FBI, particularly MIKE SMITH. SMITH sat in on an FBI meeting with Linda and me, when we asked them to protect an eyewitness that can identify Campbell and Lane as the hands-on killers of Kevin and Don. We didn't learn until the trial that SMITH was a close friend of Campbell. (SMITH's presence at the meeting was so remarkably inappropriate, there should be no doubt left in anybody's mind that the FBI lacks even a shred of integrity.) Then, Harmon enjoyed impunity for such a long time that his behavior became too blatant to ignore. Apparently Campbell has now suffered the same fate. I was outraged, but undeterred, when I was told that the cost of the report was over $500.00! Jean and I spent the summer of 1997 scrutinizing it word by word. There were dozens and dozens of interviews where information was related by a witness but absolutely no follow-up investigation on the information was ever conducted. What we found to be the most interesting was interviews relating to a witness that I had heard about for years. It stood out from the others because it appeared to be the only interview where there wasn't any follow up, but it was obvious that rather than try to corroborate information given by the witness, the state police had gone to great lengths to discredit the witness! The witness was Ronnie Godwin who stated that he had observed two police officers beat up two boys at the Ranchette Grocery Store the night Kevin and Don were killed. Jean and I located Godwin and he reluctantly agreed to talk to us. Eleven years after the murders, Godwin's statements to us were identical to the statements he had given the state police years earlier. Jean and I were impressed by his demeanor and tended to believe him despite the fact that he had been labeled a lying alcoholic by the state police. In our opinion, it would have been impossible for him to remember the incident with such detail and clarity if he had made it up years ago. Also included in the state police report were purported interviews of Godwin's mother, sister and girlfriend in which they were reported to have said that "when Ronnie drinks he tells lies." We knew, however, that when Godwin was interviewed by the state police in 1988, he had been in jail in Pine Bluff for a couple of weeks and was stone cold sober. We contacted Ronnie's mother to discuss her statements to the state police about Ronnie. She told us that she had never, ever been interviewed by the state police and would gladly testify to that under oath. She was also certain that neither Godwin's sister nor his girlfriend had been interviewed by the state police. She had, however, made similar statements to the county grand jury. She also verified that Ronnie had been clean and sober for 3 years. By this time, it was obvious that the state police had "manufactured" interviews of witnesses to discredit Ronnie Godwin. Ronnie told us that while driving home in the early morning hours after leaving Gigi's (a local private night club), as he passed the Ranchette grocery store, he saw two police officers beating the boys. The area is rural and the store was closed at that hour. Because Godwin had been drinking and had several prior DWI arrests, he feared being arrested again. Rather than turning in front of the store to go to his house, he drove on by and pulled into a lot behind a row of cargo trailers, and watched as the cops continued to beat the boys and throw them into the back of their unmarked car. Godwin further stated that they drove across the intersection and up a dirt road which went up Alexander Mountain. Godwin knew that the road dead ended in the woods after about a quarter of a mile, so he stayed put knowing they would have to come back down that way. After about 15 minutes, the two police officers came back down and then drove toward the direction of the railroad tracks. Godwin told us that the next morning he heard about the boys being found on the tracks, but given his frequent trouble with the law, he was not about to go around telling what he saw. After showing Godwin all of the interviews relating to the incident he witnessed, Godwin vehemently stated that he had not told ANYONE what he had witnessed that day and stated that the state police's claims that they had received an anonymous tip about him having information was absolutely impossible. He believes that the two officers that killed the boys saw him as he passed by the store and recognized his car. Another state police interview states that Richard Garrett, who was Dan Harmon's side-kick rushed over to interview Godwin a second time. It would seem that officials were taking Godwin's statements seriously. As it turned out, they were only serious about discrediting Godwin. Following the interviews with Godwin there was no attempt to identify the cops Godwin saw. No photos of local officers or unmarked cars were shown to him, no check of officers in the area that night who fit the description, no check for traces of blood or other evidence in the back of any unmarked cars, no investigation of the phone booth (which had been removed by that time) -- nothing --

Part of the problem that we are dealing with is that our resources are increasingly controlled and managed by people who are not trained to compete and perform under conditions of real competition. They do not know how to see it or do it. George W. Bush is the perfect example of an entire generation of slugs raised high up. I go back to what I said in early 1999 which is that we have produced a leadership with a frighteningly low learning speed. Consequently, their addiction to controlling new technology transfer and cocaine capital is profound. Without these two advantages ---produced by coercion---they are DOA. I attended a meeting of the National MultiHousing Association in 1995-96 out in Denver. A brilliant and talented Chinese developer came to speak. Before dinner I was trying to interest some of the lead developers in neighborhood stock corporations with "how the money works" community databanks as part of their operation. My argument was that it was the one way I knew to get return on investment on our pension fund and retirement savings that was competitive with emerging market yields. Folks did not seem to care. The Developer than spoke and said that we were making a steady utility return in the US and we were "doped" into thinking that we were competitive when in fact we were falling further and further behind guys like him. Essentially, he explained that in another decade or two that he would own us. Everyone laughed and cheered and seemed a little woken up by his clarity and his facts, but quickly returned to their state of self satisfied complacency. All I could think was what was going on here? It was about a year later that I sat and listened to pension fund representatives tell me that they were moving their money abroad because the US would not reengineer, we were not a productive investment. It was then a year later that I sat at the GBN ten year anniversary forum and watched Peter Schwartz do a skit where he was a Russian organized crime leader and he communicated the sense that this was cool and fashionable. He then presented a scenario of the future where a small group of elites that were elite because of their mastery of technical knowledge lead a world of "marginals". The result of the forum was that many of the brightest people in the network were stunned and determined to withdraw their support from what was a network channeling their knowledge and talent back into the "corporate" kingdom. My conversation with Peter, the leadership of the NMHC, the leadership of the pension funds and so many others over the last few years are ones I continue to find baffling. An entire world of people are addicted to cocaine capital and engaged in a fantasy that is makes them the high performance market winner while their addiction proceeds to destroy the US culture in terms of productivity. US Federal authorities arrested two men on Thursday and charged them with using an elaborate e-mail, or "spam" scheme to manipulate the prices of dozens of thinly-traded stocks. The two men, both 31, are accused of fraudulently touting stocks through unsolicited messages sent directly to many internet users. The messages were designed to simulate legitimate stock recommendations issued through internet service company America Online. The case involved the efforts of the Securities and Exchange Commission, the Federal Bureau of Investigation, and the US Department of Justice. Although it was unclear how many individuals actually received the fraudulent messages, the amount was described as "numerous" and included at least two SEC officials. "This is the dark side of the internet," said Mary Jo White, the United States Attorney for the Southern District of New York. "This kind of scheme, well-known for decades to generations of boiler-room cold-callers, takes on a new dimension because of the ability online to reach thousands, if not millions, of investors with a single keystroke." The illicit spam messages contained stock recommendations on 57 public companies. In many cases the men are charged with selling their own shares of the company into the momentum their false stock tips helped generate. According to documents filed on Thursday, the two men acquired large enough quantities of the recommended stocks to move the stocks higher prior to sending out their spam messages. The messages would then often cite recent momentum in the stock price to coax other investors into buying the stock. During a three month period the two men are said to have made profits of $339,000. NEW YORK, Feb 24 (Reuters) - Former British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher used a global surveillance network to spy on two cabinet ministers in 1983, former Canadian agent Mike Frost was quoted on Thursday as saying. The two unnamed ministers were not suspected of being traitors but Thatcher felt they disagreed with her over certain policy matters, Frost said. He said they were spied on by a Canadian agent. Frost made his allegations to the CBS-TV programme "60 Minutes," according to released excerpts. In London, no comment was immediately available from Thatcher but Prime Minister Tony Blair's office said the government would draw the allegations to her attention. "We will make sure Baroness Thatcher is aware of these allegations so she can judge whether they merit a response," a spokeswoman told Reuters. Although headlines speak of plans to "encourage" farmers to plant crops other than coca, those who read the story find that the program is actually defense industry pork. Most of the funds are for buying attack helicopters to, no doubt, increase the persuasive powers of Colombian agricultural extension personnel and their American "advisers". These "advisers" aren't the only flashback to Vietnam in 1964. In Colombia, herbicides dropped from planes are being used to eradicate coca fields. Coincidentally, these herbicides are also eradicating other crops produced by the peasants in the area. Not wanting to starve to death, these peasants have been shooting back. Recently, the US government wanted to try a new herbicide, tebuthiuron, which could be dropped from planes outside of small arms range. Dow Chemical, its manufacturer, refused because the use was inconsistent with its labeling, which warns that tebuthiuron should not be used if "terrain has slopes, rainfall is significant, desirable plants are nearby, and application is made under less than ideal circumstances." Since coca is grown adjacent to food crops in hilly terrain which is perpetually covered in clowds and because dropping herbicides from a plane from high altitude to avoid small arts fire isn't an "ideal" circumstance, Dow chose not to repeat the mistake it made with Agent Orange. At least someone isn't smoking crack. But cocaine decisions continue. Manufacturing representatives and marketing agents worldwide are reportedly "salivating" at the prospects of billions of people using Internet Devices that have G.P.S. tracking abilities. Satellite tracking technology is rapidly changing the way many and eventually all companies will interact with their various global customers. By globally tracking customers will allow restaurants, motels and retail merchants to instantly know when customers are near their various establishments and to try to bring them inside with special promotions. Personalized conveinence such as giving directions and airplane reservations are planned. Or maybe even locating a potential customer and giving directions to a good meal. An executive of a coffee company stated "There will come a time when our customers will go to our web site by their various G.P.S. tracking devices and ask where they can go to get a cup of coffee." "They could set the parameters of their car or truck's G.P.S. tracking device to tell them when they are within 30 feet of an area that sells the coffee." The technology is being implemented allowing all companies to globally tie G.P.S. location-based technology information into their normally used corporate-wide databases. The full potential of this market may be at least 1 1/2 years away but all businesses and corporations are being encouraged to think about and to start some form of implementation of this technology to make sure they are getting a head start in the inclusion of their establishments into coming information directories and databases that will supply the information to the G.P.S. tracking devices. A number of reasons are named for this rush into the world of G.P.S. tracking. The number one reason, of course, is the trillions of global dollars to be made. Besides the C.A.L.E.A. beast tracking laws presently being implemented, automobile manufacturers are aggressively moving towards installation of G.P.S. tracking systems that are interlinked to wireless emergency services, Internet connectivity and computers. A major automotive manufacturer is planning to install at least one million G.P.S. tracking devices into their product line this year. One major trucking company has installed 43,000 G.P.S. tracking devices into it's fleet. Small-scale and large-scale construction companies are incorporating G.P.S. tracking devices into their various equipment and giving G.P.S. to maintenance technicians to best determine which location offers the best advantage for repair and maintenance. A lot of concerns are being raised by various employees about the probable and potential abuses they could encounter while being globally tracked. As a whole, the response from customers globally, remains to be seen. They may not want to be globally tracked and monitored by various retail establishments. They might actually get out of the "sheeple mode" and actually see this as an invasion of privacy. But reportedly "Companies will have no choice but to offer this tracking ability because of the vast amount of profit to be made globally." As I've said, the Net gives economies of scale to individuals - even to criminals. And a further creepy aspect of these attacks is that they came from the machines of unsuspecting third parties whose machines had earlier been compromised by the attackers. That is, some people's poor security was used to attack third parties - whose security was not compromised but whose machines couldn't function because of the volume of traffic sent their way. Thus, we can't just say that the victims deserved it because of their own loose security. Most of the solutions suggested for such security problems (and future ones) involve strong government regulation and surveillance. And many of the reactions to the solutions justifiably point out the dangers to individual freedom if we create a Police Net - the virtual equivalent of a police state. But we don't necessarily need to make a one-dimensional choice between security and freedom. A more fruitful approach is to look at public as a kind of public health/safety problem, and ask how we can improve public hygiene/safety. For starters, people - at companies, universities, and any other organization that uses computers - need to be encouraged to secure their machines, both for their own safety and so they cannot be compromised to launch an attack on someone else. How to make this happen? Regulations would probably set a minimum and a clear target that criminals would take delight in working around. And government surveillance, limitations on anonymity, required registration of all users ..the cure might be worse than the disease. Instead, there are a number of paths to pursue; there's no single solution. To start, consider what the insurance industry and liability laws did for fire safety. The insurance companies should get involved, since every large company has been calling its insurance company this month (or looking for one). And they *will* get involved, since it's a nice line of business. Of course, the point is for them to take the trouble to *reduce* the risks rather than simply charging high premiums for high risks. Insurance companies need to get the expertise to assess their clients' security systems. And they will probably also turn to all those consultants and experts who no longer have Y2K to worry about/bill for. Security consulting is a nice new line of business - and it's socially responsible! And a final step, one which could benefit from government/regulatory action: Require that companies disclose their security practices and potential liabilities in financial statements. The simple answer is that I have come to regard the topic as this nation's most pressing civil rights issue. The War on Drugs has led to abuses of government as severe as some of the worst forms of segregation. It has surpassed McCarthyism in its destructive mania. The "cure" our government is trying to impose on problems real and imagined is itself threatening the health of our country. We can't build prisons fast enough. Families and neighborhoods are being shattered. Restraints on police that were once embedded in our laws have been systematically abandoned. This government's drug addiction is skewing its decisions in every corner of life. And, as with segregation and McCarthyism, its rhetoric rises on its own noise, drowning out calmer voices of reason and humanity. Here's an example of how dangerously crazy life has become in the bunkers of this war. The Arkansas Department of Correction installs a scanning device that's sensitive enough to detect traces of drugs on the hands of anyone trying to enter a facility. The only problem with it, officials explain, is that almost anyone who has handled a dollar bill has picked up traces of cocaine, so pervasively has the powder dusted our currency. Then we read in this week's news of the couple in Dallas who found $300,000 on the freeway and turned it in to police. Even though no one has claimed the money, police now say, it will not be returned to the finders because agents of the federal Drug Enforcement Administration found traces of cocaine on it, declared the money drug proceeds, and confiscated it. By that logic, one could imagine the DEA going into any retail store in America, opening the cash drawer and confiscating its contents. Or what about banks? What about the money in your pocket? It's tainted with traces of cocaine. You can just about count on it. And so is most of the money that flows around Washington. So what are we going to do? Confiscate every dollar and lock up every American who still occasionally uses cash? Don't laugh. The extremes to which we have already gone would have shocked us 20 years ago. As usual, when a mania takes control, judgment in all areas is affected. Right now, for instance, the federal government is fighting tooth and nail to beat back grassroots efforts to legalize marijuana as medicine. The drug is far too dangerous, federal officials say, even to be smoked by the terminally ill seeking relief from pain. The feds insist years of testing are needed before the drugs risks can be weighed against its benefits. At the same time, this same government is injecting an anthrax vaccine into the arms of every member of its armed services, despite multiple uncertainties about both the safety of the vaccine and its effectiveness. Unlike marijuana, whose effects -- positive and negative -- have been known for centuries, the Pentagon's anthrax vaccine is relatively new. It has not been widely used. And the single facility that supplies it has been cited for numerous safety violations. Never mind that soldiers are resigning from the armed services rather than submit to the injections -- or that, on the other hand, people who smoke marijuana do so of their own volition. The government -- the true drug lord, these days-imprisons for the use of some drugs and imposes the use of others. Perhaps most tragically, this fixation on illegal drugs robs us of genuine opportunities to improve in such crucial areas as health and education. Take for example Rep. Asa Hutchinson's upcoming visit to Northwest Arkansas, where he plans to hold a "field hearing" about methamphetamine, now that Arkansas leads the nation in meth labs per capita. One wonders why he did not scramble to hold field hearings over the results of a study just released by the AARP that citizens of his state have the second-highest death rate in the nation due to stroke; that its citizens are among the most uninsured in the nation for health; and that it leads the nation in the number of women who don't get mammograms. Hutchinson's answer to the burgeoning methamphetamine problem is, as always, tougher enforcement. More laws. More police. More prisons. What a remarkable experience it would be if, just once, a hearing were held to examine whether there might be a relationship between Arkansas's top-of-the-chart rates of poverty, ill education and ill health and all those methamphetamine labs. But like the die-hard segregationists and fiery Joe McCarthy, the demagogues of this current hysteria stoke their cause with fear. The Clinton administration is baffled by the role of Kuwait in driving up oil prices to the $30-a-barrel range, a near threefold increase. The price hike is creating inflationary pressures that could lead the Federal Reserve Board to raise interest rates again and threaten the long-running bulls on Wall Street. Noting Kuwait's key role in boosting prices, one American oil expert complained to The New York Times that Kuwait's behavior was strange given the fact that the United States went to war nine years ago to free Kuwait from Iraqi occupation. "That's gratitude for you," groused the expert. [NYT, Feb. 24, 2000] But there is a different way of assessing where Kuwait might be placing its gratitude. After all, it was President George Bush who led the coalition that decimated the Iraqi military force and restored the sheikh and other members of Kuwait's royal family to their luxurious mansions. Kuwait's royal family could be demonstrating its gratitude to the Bush family. Kuwait's actions could undercut the Clinton-Gore economic successes and could contribute to a more restless U.S. electorate in November. After a summer of sharply higher gasoline prices and months of declining stock portfolios, the American voters might not be as eager to see the continuation of Clinton-Gore policies as they might be otherwise. Vice President Gore would have to explain a suddenly beleaguered U.S. economy. Clearly, Bush's eldest son, Texas Gov. George W. Bush, would stand to gain, if he is the Republican nominee in the fall. But, it should added, there is no evidence that any intermediary from the Bush family has encouraged these Kuwaiti-led oil price hikes or that the Kuwaitis consciously are trying to influence the November elections. Meanwhile, the Clinton administration has moved to counter the oil-price threat. On Thursday, Energy Secretary Bill Richardson convinced the Kuwaitis to soften their hard-line position, at least slightly. But whether the Kuwaitis will acquiesce to higher oil production -- and somewhat lower prices -- is still unclear. In another oil-related move, the Clinton administration is considering easing economic sanctions on Iraq. The administration justifies this possible relaxation on humanitarian grounds. But the step would let Iraq release more oil into the world market and take some of the pressure off international oil prices. What is clear is that the "Great Game" of Middle Eastern oil politics is never too far removed from the hardball game of power politics in the West. TOLKIEN The Middle-Earth saga and the Illuminati I don't know if you have thought about it, but there are quiet some links between Tolkien's imaginary(?) world and the occult teachings within the Brotherhoods. You who have read "Lord of the Rings", and especially "Silmarillion", might know what I'm getting at ... My own first contact with Tolkien's world was in 1968, when the Swedish Radio presented "The Hobbit" as a summer-series. It was very well produced, with different voices for different characters etc., and I was totally fascinated. I could see the whole scenario in moving, 3D pictures inside my head and it was very real. I was stuck in front of the radio every morning the whole summer through, and when Thorin died in the end, I was crying - like if I had lost a long gone friend. I experienced the same thing a few years later when I read "Lord of the Rings" - the episode when Gandalf fell to his death in the depths of Moria (but later reincarnated). Through my teens Tolkien was a big part of my life, and when he died in 1973 I thought the world must have come to an end. Seemed like he had so much more to give, and still the masterpiece which I'd been waiting for - the "Silmarillion" - was not yet released. Terrible ...! However, his son, Christopher Tolkien, later put Silmarillion together and to my big relief it was released I think in 1977 in Sweden. Of course, Tolkien was a professor in the English language and a terrific story-teller, no doubt about that. But there is something more to it. Long before I knew anything about occultism, I had the feeling parts of his story was true in some way. Had Middle-Earth existed some time in the past? (Tolkien himself refers it to old England.) I did have the feeling already then, that the spirit reincarnates in a new body when we "die", so had I had any part in this "imaginary" world of Tolkien's...? When we discuss the matter of the Brotherhood, Illuminati etc., it's inevitable to make the comparison to Tolkien. Sauron is of course Satan/Lucifer with his Black magic power, and Gandalf is a member of a Brotherhood called "The Wizard's Council", which is a secret society in itself with magic rituals and esoteric wisdom. The hobbits would from my viewpoint be the ignorant Homo sapiens, who don't want to get involved and don't know very much about what is going on anyway. Just like in the world today, ignorant people are used for "greater purposes", without knowing what they're getting into. Then there are the orchs, of course. I can't help comparing them to the small, big-eyed grey aliens with their underground bases and malign intents. It seems like the Greys are hybrids and hence "created" and crossbreeded. So were the orchs, created by Melkor, the fallen angel. The funny part of it is (and I'm sure many Tolkien fans will recognize this), that you have a very clear picture inside your head of how the different characters in the saga look like. Sometimes you look at pictures drawn by artists, related to Tolkien's world, and you often get very upset, because you "know" that's not the way they looked like. The opposite also happens. You think, yeah! This artist has really got it! Right? It's interesting from this viewpoint to compare the power-struggle of Middle-Earth with the power-struggle on Earth today, as we know it from the magical point of view. Because that's just what it is - a magic power-struggle above ordinary people's heads. We are the "ignorant", the "sheep" and the magicians are the "shepherds" eager to keep the sheep within their fold, so they themselves can be busy with "more important things". Like some occult teachers, Tolkien got the idea to his masterpiece after he had been wounded in the first World War. He didn't know from where he got the idea, it just "came to him". Many occultists have had the same experience - some strange power just channeling through them ... Another thing is, Tolkien was a professor in Oxford, which is ruled by the Illuminati. Question: was Tolkien a part of the Brotherhood in some degree? Did he know the occult technology, or is everything just a coincidence? He himself said he used parts of the Beowulf saga and the old Icelandic myths, but that doesn't explain everything. Also, Tolkien must have been aware of the Sumerian scriptures. If you look at the Genesis in Silmarillion, you see the similarities both from old Sumer and the Genesis of the Illuminati. Dubbed "Innocence in Danger," the U.N. initiative is focusing on pedophilia and child pornography and will proceed under the auspices of a group called Wired Kids, which also addresses "digital divide" issues of equitable access and education for children. Participants include Microsoft, ATT, America Online, Lycos, the American Library Association, the National Education Association, the FBI, the Department of Justice, the Federal Trade Commission and the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children. The activity springs from a conference called in Paris in September 1998 following a massive European sting against alleged traffickers in online child pornography. Innocence in Danger falls under the domain of the United Nations Education, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO). High among the new group's goals is to provide a clearinghouse for information related to online child porn and pedophilia that child protection groups around the world can share. The group's founders envision an "online virtual think tank." These efforts have already led to academic research on children's online behavior. Based on a Net survey of more than 10,000 respondents, three American UNESCO appointees are preparing to release a study suggesting that young women and girls are not approaching the Internet with sufficient caution. Not surprisingly, they conclude that stronger regulations are needed to improve safety. The Wired Kids project gets under way amid a roiling international debate about the role of the Internet in the sexual exploitation of children. In the United States, the issue has pitted civil liberties groups against children's rights proponents in a series of high-profile legal skirmishes over the openness of the Internet. The issue has most recently been in the spotlight following the mistrial late last year of former Infoseek executive Patrick Naughton on charges of using the Internet to seek sex with a minor. Naughton is scheduled for retrial in March; he has denied wrongdoing. Children's advocates have recently faced legal setbacks in the United States on several fronts. In December, a federal appeals court struck down the Child Pornography Prevention Act of 1996, finding the law went too far when it outlawed materials that either "appear to be" or "convey the impression" they are sexually explicit pictures of children. In addition, the Child Online Protection Act (COPA), which restricts access to online material that is deemed "harmful to minors," has been tied up in the courts for more than a year. Risky behavior Throwing a new element into the debate is a broad survey of children's and teen-agers' behavior suggesting that tougher laws may be needed. Conducted by two professors at the University of South Florida and an attorney specializing in children's online safety issues, the study surveyed 10,800 girls between the ages of 12 and 18 who opted to participate through the Seventeen Online Web site. The researchers set out to document what they suspected was a lack of caution taken by girls and young women online. Their suspicions were confirmed. The study determined that many young women and girls turn to the Internet as a sexual outlet: 60 percent of the girls surveyed reported having engaged in some kind of sexual activity while online, phrased by the respondents as "cybersex." In addition, the survey found that girls frequently meet people in person whom they have encountered online. Fifteen percent of those online 10 to 12 hours per week said they had met an online acquaintance offline, and 24 percent of those online at least 12 hours per week reported doing so. The study did not account for what transpired at the offline meetings. But the authors deemed it an indication that girls were not being careful enough about their online activities. The Internet as it stands today poses a risk for "young people who may be naive regarding the intentions of others," report the authors. "Since children and youth typically are trusting and curious about online relationships, they are vulnerable to crime and exploitation." As the scandal continues to grow, it is becoming apparent to many that despite the Mayor's and police department's insistence, only an independent review can credibly address the issues involved. Last week, members of the city council stated that the expected liability stemming from the beatings, set-ups and shootings would preclude virtually any new spending initiatives. This week, a motion was raised in the council to commission an independent body to conduct an investigation. "The police union never before has called for civilian oversight," Geoffrey Garfield, a union spokesperson told reporters. "But this scandal is so deep that the situation begs for a third-party and active participation to take part in this." This week, Los Angeles City Councilman Joel Wachs introduced a motion to establish an independent commission to oversee an investigation. On Tuesday, the council rejected the motion by a vote of 9-6. Councilman Wachs, however, is confident that the matter will be reconsidered. Greg Nelson, spokesman for Mr. Wachs, told The Week Online that an independent investigation is both imminent and imperative. "We feel that there are a number of council members who ultimately want (an outside investigation), but that they were simply not ready to vote to form one at this moment. It will happen, eventually. Also likely to be in attendance is Mike Moore, head of the WTO; he and his predecessor have regularly attended this group's meetings, along with the heads of other powerful international institutions. April's sessions are among the routine high-level meetings dedicated to making the world safer and more profitable for corporations -- and more dangerous for people and the planet. The formal joint meetings of the World Bank Group and IMF continue through April 17. -Caveat Lector- A HREF="http://www.ctrl.org/" /A -Cui Bono?- Justice Department to review evidence after acquittal in Diallo case Albany, N.Y.(CNN) -- The Justice Department announced it will review the evidence in the trial of four white New York City police officers who were acquitted on Friday of all charges in the death of Amadou Diallo, an unarmed black man who was hit by 19 of 41 shots fired at him in the vestibule of his Bronx home last February. The Justice Department released the following statement on behalf of Mary Jo White, the U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of New York: "Ms. White announced that, as in cases of this kind, her office, in conjunction with the Civil Rights Division of the Department of Justice, will review all of the available evidence with respect to the death of Mr. Diallo, including the evidence available to the District Attorney's Office in Bronx County, to determine whether there were any violations of the federal criminal civil rights laws." The statement came shortly after the acquittal of the defendants -- Kenneth Boss, Sean Carroll, Edward McMellon and Richard Murphy -- who had all pleaded not guilty to the charge of second-degree murder in the 1999 killing of Diallo, a 22-year-old immigrant from the West African nation of Guinea. Jurors also were allowed to consider lesser charges, including first-degree manslaughter, criminally negligent homicide, and reckless endangerment. Before the verdicts were read, Supreme Court Justice Joseph Teresi issued a warning against any emotional outbursts in the courtroom and ordered everyone to remain seated until all motions were heard. Several officers wiped back tears as they heard the jury exonerate them. Carroll gripped a rosary as he listened to each decision from the jurors. The families of the officers and Diallo's mother were in the courtroom to hear the verdicts. Diallo's mother was silent but wept and gripped the hands of her brothers as the verdicts were read. Teresi thanked the jurors and told them the state of New York had strict laws protecting their privacy and that they were under no obligation to explain their decision. Jurors refused to comment after they left the courtroom. During the third day of deliberations, the judge reread -- at the jury's request --the legal guidelines under which the officers could justify the shooting of Diallo as an act of self-defense. Jurors also requested a reading of testimony from criminologist James Fyfe, who said the officers followed proper procedures when they asked Diallo to speak to them and approached him. The officers testified Diallo did not respond to police commands. And for the second time during their deliberations, jurors asked to hear a reading of testimony from officers Carroll and McMellon, who were the first to approach Diallo and who each fired 16 shots. Juror dismissed Jurors, who were not sequestered until deliberations began, were instructed every day by State Supreme Court Justice Joseph Teresi not to discuss the trial outside the jury room. Just before deliberations began Wednesday, Teresi said he dismissed a white woman juror and replaced her with an alternate, a white man, after an investigation by state police revealed she had talked about the case outside the courtroom. The judge said the dismissed juror apologized for her actions, saying if she had it to do over again, she would not have talked about the case. The judge described the woman as "very embarrassed" about it. The re-configured jury consisted of four black women, one white woman and seven white men. The trial was moved from the New York City borough of the Bronx to Albany, New York -- 150 miles away -- because of intensive pretrial publicity. Closing arguments Defense attorneys said in closing arguments Tuesday that jurors should appreciate the fear of the officers the night they shot Diallo, as they faced someone they thought was a dangerous man. "They made a mistake," John Patten, attorney for officer Carroll said. "But they honestly believed this guy was shooting at them." Diallo was struck by 19 of 41 bullets fired at him by the defendants on February 4, 1999. Eric Warner of the Bronx District Attorney's office asked jurors to put themselves into Diallo's shoes, describing what he said the immigrant must have felt as he was approached by the four white police officers. "There wasn't a hint of justification. Who wouldn't be afraid, faced with four big men with guns?" he said. But defense lawyers told jurors that the prosecution had failed to prove beyond a reasonable doubt that the four officers were not justified in firing their weapons at Diallo as he stood in the vestibule of his apartment building. Officers: Diallo was 'acting suspiciously' The officers had testified that Diallo was acting suspiciously and did not respond to their commands when they approached him. Just like in the world today, ignorant people are used for "greater purposes", without knowing what they're getting into. The problem with this analogy is that in Tolkien's world, hobbits co-exist with homo sapiens... I too got involved with Tolkien -- and C.S. Lewis -- in the 1970s...and I read an interesting commentary, which I no longer have (so I don't know who the author was), entitled something like "Of Elves, Eldils, and Angels"... The author compared Tolkien's cosmology with that of his friend and fellow Oxford "roundtable" member, C.S. Lewis... Tolkien was a devout Roman Catholic, and the author pointed out how Tolkien's cosmology fit in (or at least did not contradict) Roman Catholicism... C.S. Lewis, OTOH, was a devout Protestant, and his works reflect that. But what is interesting is reading The Hobbit and the Ring trilogy, along with Lewis' "Perelandra" trilogy...it is obvious each author influenced the other (not surprising, since each was at work on their masterpieces and shared their works in progress at their weekly roundtable meetings)the influence is most pronounced in Lewis' final book of his sci-fi trilogy, "That Hideous Strength"...a book I have mentioned here before, a book which graphically depicts a "NWO" takeover, and what sort of society such a conglomerate (which utilizes evil metaphysical powers) would bring about... Tolkien and Lewis seemed to be writing on a similar theme, but front opposing spectrums: Tolkien at one end, in the distant past; and Lewis at the other, in the near future (or what was the near future for Lewis, who started his sci-fi trilogy in the late 1930s, and wrote the last book in the 1950s)... It's interesting from this viewpoint to compare the power-struggle of Middle-Earth with the power-struggle on Earth today, as we know it from the magical point of view. Because that's just what it is - a magic power-struggle above ordinary people's heads. We are the "ignorant", the "sheep" and the magicians are the "shepherds" eager to keep the sheep within their fold, so they themselves can be busy with "more important things". Lewis' first book in his trilogy is called "Out of the Silent Planet"...towards the end, we find out what this title means, as the hero (not so subtlely named "Ransom") is told by the Eldils (an 'angelic' type race) that of all the planets in the universe, Earth is the 'silent' planet, because it is basically under a blockade...it is where 'evil' has been banished, so that it won't spread to the rest of the universeand it's this blockade that prevents homo sapiens being in psychic communication with the rest of the universe...and it is only homo sapiens that can 'redeem' Earth and it's denizens (even the evil ones)... Of course, the evil spirits would rather make sure that humanity fails in this task, and are intent not only in taking over Earth, but the rest of the universe... The devout Christian that C.S. Lewis was, he is obviously alluding to the Biblical account of the struggle in heaven between God and Lucifer, and the casting out of the rebellious angels... Like some occult teachers, Tolkien got the idea to his masterpiece after he had been wounded in the first World War. He didn't know from where he got the idea, it just "came to him". Many occultists have had the same experience - some strange power just channeling through them ... Another thing is, Tolkien was a professor in Oxford, which is ruled by the Illuminati. Question: was Tolkien a part of the Brotherhood in some degree? Did he know the occult technology, or is everything just a coincidence? He himself said he used parts of the Beowulf saga and the old Icelandic myths, but that doesn't explain everything. I doubt Tolkien was into the occult...he was too devout of a Roman Catholic... Another interesting thing is that Tolkien and C.S. Lewis were both Oxford Professors and members of a secret society among the University teachers - "The Inklings". It wasn't so secret. Everyone knew of the group, it's meetings were held openly, once a week... The funny thing is the names the two authors used for their book characters. We already discussed Tolkien above, but also look at the name "Galgalum" here below, meaning "The Guide". Compare it with Gollum in Tolkien's world - he who guided the "Fellowship of the Ring" to Mordor. "gollum" is not a word Tolken made up...tales of "the gollum" go back to the Middle Ages, and referred to an artificially created being without a soul... C.S. Lewis on the other hand wrote the books of Narnia, a fantasy world with a Lion God (also a symbol of the "God" of Illuminati - Satan). Perhaps so, but in Lewis' Narnian cosmology, Aslan was

This was reported by a number of news media, including ITAR-TASS. All the arrested, as it was declared by the North Caucasus Chief Department of the General Prosecutor"s Office, are suspected of participating in military actions against the federal troops. According to the Chief Department, there are not only ethnic Chechens, but also Russians, Ingushs, Georgians, Tatars among those brought to the holdovers of Stavropol. There also are women among them, whom Russian Prosecutor"s Office suspects of serving in the militants" units as snipers. --- Prisoners of Filtration Camps Hidden from Sight? It cannot be ruled out that the transference of prisoners to the Stavropol region of Russia is caused by the arrival of the Commissioner of the Council of Europe Robles to Moscow. According to some sources, Robles will insist on visiting filtration camps in Chechnya. A series of publications about tortures in the filtration camps was seen in Western and Russian mass media during the last week. The U. N. High Commissioner for Human Rights Robinson tried to visit Russian filtration camps in Chechnya for checking the evidences of many victims on spot. But Russian authorities acted unexampledly - they refused to allow the U. N. High Commissioner to visit the Chechen Republic. The majority of the human rights activists describe such actions of Russian authorities as an attempt to hide the facts of brutalities and, possibly, extra-judicial executions in the filtration camps from the global community. The practice of concealment is not a new investigation. USA: Fatal Attraction - Texas Leads US Executions, Florida Follows
With three executions in Texas and Florida in the past 24 hours, and a
fourth scheduled this evening in Texas, the brothers Bush - Governors of the
two states - are allowing the USA to stray further from international
standards, and deepening the damage to US claims to be a progressive force
for human rights, Amnesty International said today.
"As the world increasingly turns its back on the {death penalty}, as
illustrated by Tuesday's overwhelming vote for abolition in the Ukrainian
parliament, Texas continues to lead the USA's resort to judicial killing,
with Florida apparently desperate to imitate it," the organisation said.
Texas accounts for eight of the 17 US executions so far in the new century,
and 207 of the
615 since 1977.
Yesterday morning, Florida executed its first prisoner by lethal injection
under a bill signed
into law in January by Governor Jeb Bush. A second man was put to death this
morning.
The State of Florida leads the country in the number of wrongfully convicted
death row
prisoners released since 1973, yet Governor Jeb Bush enacted measures in
January to speed up
executions there. On 31 January, in contrast, the pro-death penalty
Republican Governor of Illinois
imposed a moratorium on executions in his state because of its "shameful"
record of sentencing the
innocent to death. Illinois has released 13 former death row inmates,
Florida 18.
At the time of the Florida legislature's vote to expedite executions and
introduce lethal
injection, Governor Jeb Bush's policy advisor expressed the hope that
Florida would become more
like Texas, adding "bring in the witnesses, put them [the inmates] on a
gurney, and let's rock and
roll."
"A desire to imitate the Texan approach to the death penalty displays either
ignorance or
contempt for global norms of justice," Amnesty International continued,
pointing out that Texas
maintains appallingly low standards of legal representation for capital
defendants and has carried out
three of the world's eight executions of child offenders in the past 30
months - a blatant violation of
international law.
Last night, Texas executed Cornelius Goss, who became the 120th prisoner put
to death under
the five-year governorship of George W. Bush, campaigning for US President
under a banner of
"compassionate conservative" and "reformer with results".
"Such campaign slogans have been emptied of meaning in the face of an
execution rate that
exceeds most countries," Amnesty International said. "With pretensions to be
a leader on the world
stage, Governor George W Bush may wish to consider what his record on the
death penalty is doing
to his reputation internationally."
Tonight Texas is set to execute mentally impaired great-grandmother Betty
Lou Beets.
Betty Beets - who is two weeks away from her 63rd birthday - was denied
clemency on Tuesday
evening by the Texas Board of Pardons and Paroles. The jury that sentenced
her to death never
heard about her history of physical, sexual and emotional abuse, including
at the hands of several
husbands. She was convicted of killing her fifth husband.
Amnesty International activists around the world have been appealing to the
two Governors
to {stop the executions} and move away from a punishment which is a symptom
of, not a solution to,
the culture of violence.

Herman has returned an eight-count indictment charging a Singapore businessman with lying about the source of $200,000 in political contributions to Democratic Party groups, court records show. The indictment against the businessman, Abdul Rahman, was returned on Feb. 16 but was not disclosed by Ralph I. Lancaster Jr., the prosecutor in the case. Mr. Lancaster did not return a telephone call today, and efforts to contact Mr. Rahman were unsuccessful. The first count in the indictment accused Mr. Rahman of making a false statement, a felony. The remaining counts, misdemeanors, accused him of improperly making contributions as a foreign citizen. While Mr. Rahman's name has not surfaced before, he appeared to be the businessman who was cited, but not identified, by Attorney General Janet Reno when she referred Ms. Herman's case to an independent counsel in May 1998. In her referral, Ms. Reno said that the Justice Department had received accusations that an unidentified "foreign national" had been solicited by a company owned by Ms. Herman and a partner, Vanessa Weaver, to provide money for illegal contributions to Democratic groups in return for furthering his business interests. Ms. Reno said in the referral that she had no evidence that Ms. Herman, Ms. Weaver or anyone had violated the law. But she said a preliminary investigation had corroborated some aspects of the accusations. The accusations were made by Larent J. Yene, a Cameroonian who lived and ran a business in the United States. He said that Ms. Herman, when head of the White House public liaison office, had improperly agreed to accept payments in return for generating business for a consulting company she owned jointly with Mr. Yene and Ms. Weaver. Today, Ms. Herman's lawyer, Neil Eggleston, did not comment on the indictment, which made no reference to the labor secretary. The incident took place Monday as ethnic Albanians tried to storm the Ibar bridge dividing the Kosovo town of Kosovska Mitrovica. "I do confirm that that happened in the crowd. It is a shame it did happen," Lieutenant Colonel Philip Anido told a daily press conference here, in response to a question about the incident. "General Reinhardt was instrumental in calming the crowds and keeping that situation under control," the spokesman said in the general's defence. It is considered a grave error for a soldier to lose their personal weapon. "I think General Reinhardt would be proud to call himself a soldier first and a general second and I know that he will take whatever punishment or sanction would come this way," Anido said.
