Hello,

Population density means Population Divided Geographical Area.
To compute area we need boundaries or the areas directly.
I feel the Area or the boundary of a Pincode number is not available. May
not be reliable.
Population is also not available Pincodewise.

May be you did not find the proper link
Look here there are many links down with data
http://www.censusindia.gov.in/2011census/population_enumeration.html
or here
http://censusindia.gov.in/pca/pcadata/pca.html
Look here and you will get data in excl format for Maharashtra
that I want, then import the GPX on a different layer and
properly draw over it.
May be add more names and details to existing features.
Let us see.

Hi,
I have been doing a lot of dabbling with a lot of data and have collected
several datasets.
IMO The best free source for India districts is right here and is created
by Datameet members I think Devdatta was the main member involved
Hi Devdatta,
What is the data that you are looking for.
I had saved it.
But it is huge. About 1.55 GB consisting of about 135 shapefiles out of
which 70 are raw booths.

HI,
This has been on my mind for a long time.
This post encouraged me to work on the Idea.
I posted it in an independent thread.
I intend to make more such maps.

HI,
Citymaps in clean uncluttered, layered form for good visualisation with
just the amount of manageable data is difficult to get freely.
That is where the maximum money lies for commercial mapping activity.
the best free source is OSM. But to get just what you want in a clean SVG
form will be

HI,
Actually we need to discuss the copyright issues together as a group for
various inputs sources.
I have reverse engineered village boundaries of Two states from PDFs.
It is "work in progress" hence it is important to know what is the legal
status.

Hi,
I have updated the villages file.
There was a mistake and it also contained district polygons.
