Probablemente sea mucho suponer y me equivoque pero aun así, podrías
comprobar que el kernel tuviera soporte para tcp/ip, etc.
En algunos casos lo mejor es olvidar todas las configuraciones anteriores y
empezar de nuevo desde cero.

95/98 usar el filesystem vfat
Ejemplo:
mount -t vfat /dev/hdb1 /win95
Con ello linux toma los nombres largos.

STB card and it seems to have been orphaned

Try man fuser and learn how to find out which process is still blocking
the device.
