Re: [Dspace-tech] Return search query as RSS feed
Alexandre, After my post I got a reply from Urban Andersson at Univerisy of Gothenburg, where they have developed such a utility. With their help we have implemented a working search with XML results in DSpace. I think feature like this should definelety be included in default DSpace installation. Below is the reply I got. Im sure Urban will share the code with the community if needed. Cheers, Mika -- Hello Mika, I have made a modification (copy) of the SimpleSearchServlet, and corresponding JSP, to have it return XML (not actual RSS, but that should be easy to adapt) instead of HTML. This is a small fix that should be easy to implement. Although I am not sure if it is sufficient for you. An example of this: http://gupea.ub.gu.se:8080/dspace/simple-search-snabbsok?query=helsinkirpp=50submit=Go We use this for a quick search function on our web pages: http://www.ub.gu.se/ Also we generate various DSpace RSS feeds directly from postgres SQL queries on our web pages, but that is done outside of DSpace. I have not done anything with the RSS class in DSpace. There might be some cache issues etc that you would want to look at when implementing RSS (my solution simply returns straight XML instead of the web page). Please let me know if you want to have at look at the above. / Urban - Näytä lainattu teksti - mikan.d.dspace listmail wrote: - Näytä lainattu teksti - Hi, Has anyone tried/done the following on DSpace: modify the search code so, that it would return any given search as RSS feed? Hello. At OhioLINK we're doing something similar in the xmlui. FLV video files are displayed in the browser, and the user can click the play button to show the video. There's a rough outline of our setup on the DSpace Wiki, here: http://wiki.dspace.org/index.php/DSpace_1.5_XMLUI_FLV_Video_Progressive_Download/ Keith Gilbertson Systems Developer OhioLINK On Fri, 2009-06-05 at 12:47 +0530, Yureshwar Dspace wrote: Hi all its again me, How to add video preview function for xmlui as we can add for jspui. [Dspace-tech] Assetstore out of space
Hi * Is any one using several assetstores, in the configurations ? I'm short on space in the assetstore so i added a new entry in dspace.cfg as: assetstore.dir.1 = /dspace-storage1/assetstore restarting Tomcat and importing new bundles they didn't get in this new assetstore. What is the writing algorithm any one knows ? round-robin or fill-up ? The only way i get it to write to the new assetstore was to set assetstore.incoming = 1 but then it simply doesn't write any more on the previous one. I also tried to change that in run-time to see if i could take advantage of the first partition totally. It turns out it work, and i managed to fill the first partition, unfortunately in the interface when i try to get the bitstream it returns an error :s I will make another test without changing that value in run-time. Does wnay one know the procedure to start using more then one assetstore, i may be missing something ? Re: [Dspace-tech] Producing mets.xml for SWORD
The Harvard METS toolkit gives you an convenient (though DOM-like) API for the METS data model, takes care of some of the housekeeping, and it has logic to prevent schema mistakes: http://hul.harvard.edu/mets/ There's also a toolkit that helps you build a whole submission package, including the METS. It ought to work with SWORD too; see: http://wiki.dspace.org/index.php/DSpace_SIP_Toolkit (If you develop any tricks or procedures for using it with SWORD, please add them to that wiki page!) -- Larry On Jun 5, 2009, at 5:25 AM, mikan.d.dspace listmail wrote: Im hoping to use SWORD in order to deposit items to DSpace.
