Am I correct in thinking that if I download the newest version it automatically overwrites the current? Assuming so is there any way to download separately to see if I want to update? [Dx4win] new version 9 problem
I upgraded to V9 of DX4WIN. NO problem till I tried to set the baud rate for my Kenwood TS990S. I had the baud rate set to 19200 in V8 and it connected to my rig fine. Now that I'm up and running V9 the "preferences", "radio" is fixed at 9600 baud. I cannot set it to 19200 like V8 allowed. I get a "bong" when I click in the baud window. Any suggestions? Re: [Dx4win] NEW VERSION
That is exactly what beta testing is all about. I think the underlying question is WHAT is it that is being beta tested. Release 9 doesn't define anything really. It's just a bit unusual to not hear what the contents of the release will be. That's OK, Paul has always done a very fine job so I am not concerned about it. I've tried other loggers but I am not willing to go through the learning curve. 73 Jerry N9AW On Sat, Oct 7, 2017 at 12:20 PM, Mike Cizek W0VTT <mgci...@gmail.com> wrote: > Hello Neil, > > I think the idea is to make it as bulletproof and bug-free as possible > before releasing it. > > -- > 73, > Mike Cizek WØVTT > > -Original Message- > From: Neil Carr [mailto:g0...@blueyonder.co.uk] > Sent: Saturday, October 07, 2017 11:42 > To: 'Mike Cizek W0VTT'; 'DX4WIN' > Subject: RE: [Dx4win] NEW VERSION > > Thanks for the updates Mike. > I've pretty much used DX4WIN since version 5, 17 yrs ago. [Dx4win] New version of DX4WIN
I started using dx4win in 1996, and after a period of being QRT.since 2008, I am returning to the bands in the autumn of this year. Is a new version of the software being released later this year? I would appreciate if anyone could shed some light on this. [Dx4win] New version 2017?
Have we any idea when the new version will be available? I'm not looking for a date, but would welcome knowing if it's likely to be in 2017? This would help me plan how I log a few different modes the next few months. Thanks any info. It's always nice to hear from you. Answers to your questions: Latest country file: I have just downloaded it from your website. The installation instructions will take a little time to digest! [Dx4win] New version of ADIF County Conversion uploaded
I've uploaded a new version of my ADIF County Conversion tool: http://software.ad1c.us/#County This program takes an ADIF file from a contest logger like WriteLog or N1MM, and converts the contest-specific county abbreviations into real ADIF field values which can be imported into a general-purpose logging program. This version adds Colorado and Mississippi QSO parties. It also fixes the state drop-down selection box (previously it was too small). A quick download, and v6.04 is up and running. Checking it out now, looks pretty familiar. I wonder what changed (besides the obvious). I do wish that this program supported the Elecraft K2, especially this rig's very useful serial-port streaming CW function. There are now nearly 5,000 K2 rigs out there. That's more than the total of several other DX4WIN supported radios - combined. Since DX4WIN already sports a CW terminal function, and already connects to the radio's serial port ... well, I'm not a programmer, but it seems like it wouldn't be much of a stretch to add this clever and valuable feature. Perhaps in a future revision ... for now, the subset of functionality offered by the Kenwood 850 setting will suffice. 73 Steve KZ1X/4

I like MMTTY and continue to use it for just the neat RTTY tuning indicator. I have carefully compared my KAM, MMTTY and MixW for receiving RTTY, and MixW definitely has the edge, with MMTTY second. MixW is appealing also since it runs CW, Packet, FSK31, AMTOR, PACTOR (receive only), MFSK, Throb, MT63, Hellschreiber, FAX and SSTV, as well as BPSK31 and QPSK31. Wasn't there a discussion on this a year or so ago and it dealt with money. As I recall the developer of MMTTY said it was free to use but not to charge for. Dick, no one *knew* that Paul was working on a new release, not even the beta testers (of which I am one). It makes sense to me that Paul would be collecting ideas for the next release as soon as the previous one goes out. He probably has a list with hundreds of items on it that he has been looking into over the past two years. At some point he will have a significant collection of them ready to go out to Beta testers. Any suggestions coming in after that time will go in the pot for the following release. As I read the organization chart, Paul and Steve are management. Beta testers are testers. Users are the collective wisdom that drives each release. Please forgive the rant, but I spent most of my adult life in software development and remember will great frustration all of the gotta have ideas I received as a release I had worked on for a year finally went into testing. 73, Dick -- Dick Flanagan K7VC NV SM E-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED]

Writelog incorporates MMTTY as an free and separate addin (I suppose to get around the $ factor) - works like a charm , BTW I bought DX4WIN at the recommendation of a QSL manager for the ease of printing labels for a station I manage (if anyone is looking for a QSL manager email me direct) to date that is all I have really used it for - I own Writelog for RTTY Contesting and TRlog for CW SSB contesting abd usually just import my Q's into DX4Win after the fact - along with lotw uploads, -Original Message- From: Pete Smith [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: Tuesday, April 13, 2004 1:55 PM To: WC7N Cc: dx4win@mailman.qth.net Subject: Re: [Dx4win] DX4WIN New Version At 12:51 PM 4/13/04, WC7N wrote: Wasn't there a discussion on this a year or so ago and it dealt with money. Nobody I know of can begin to support his family from this, or even make enough to compensate him for the time spent at a remotely reasonable rate. Paul does add features based on input from the group, Gilles. We are expecting a new version, perhaps before the end of the year. It's become a complex program, and it takes a lot of beta-testing to be sure it's stable before it's released... especially as it needs to be tested in the many incompatible Windows versions that are currently in use. - Original Message - From: . [Dx4win] New version?

I'm happy with it too, but it could stand some improvement 1. Fix IOTA editor so it doesn't crash when adding new reference numbers 2. Copy IOTA field from previous QSO to current one. This functionality used to be there, but somehow got lost. 3. Improve the US County reports so that they have the same capabilities as the other awards, i.e. mode support, needed lists, double-click on report creates logbook filter, etc. 4. Interface to MMTTY via API rather than complicated serial-port loopback. 5. Have it work BS7 and VU4 for me when they come on the air, even if I'm not home! :-) 73 - Jim AD1C -- Jim Reisert AD1C, 7 Charlemont Court, North Chelmsford, MA 01863 USA +978-251-9933, [EMAIL PROTECTED], http://www.ad1c.com PGP Fingerprint: D8E2 3D78 339F A7F1 8C13 1193 B5D1 4FB6 79D1 70DC
[Dx4win] New version?
I have to admit not following these threads closely, so this may have been raised before, but I would like the WAZ tracking to reflect the actual award...for example, if I set the DX Spotting window to WAZ, it colors/announces zones like DXCC, but the single band WAZ awards are single-mode as well. So if I have zone 23 confirmed on 15m CW, but not SSB, then JT1AB on 21.290 comes up nothing.
