Howdy Folks,
I am going to play things a little differently this coming Sunday.
I've been invited down to Hillsboro for a picnic to fete the folks who
worked comms at the local airshow. I wish to take my K2, some antenna
wire, and the rest of my gear down to the park where they are
I have failed the power supply test on the KPA-100. I measure -0.33v across
the aux power supply to the K2.
Ah... I have confirmed that the reverse polarity protection in the KPA-100
works a treat.
Just in case any of you were too scared to try :-P
KPA-100 Power up test a success.
I have for sale the following items.
K2/100 (s/n 4028 fully upgraded) with KNB2, KDSP2, KSB2, K160RX
KAT100
K2 Top Cover with KIO2.
EC2 enclosure with KAT100 panels
MFJ 1279 sound card interface
This equipment has been in continuous use since
Raj,
You were able to copy between the elements with the K2 at 35WPM? If so, I
wonder what is different about your K2? Serial number?
I have felt that the QSK was the one weak point of the K2. I can't hear
between elements above about 16wpm. Yet when I played with Yaesu's 1K series

I've completed the tests and alignment in Part II of the RF board. All

except that when I tune through a signal (CW or BC) in CW mode on 40 meters,
the pitch of the received signal doesn't change. The signal pops up when

I ordered the K2 noise blanker and a switchable balun from Elecraft Monday
morning, received them Tuesday noon, and had both operational Wednesday.
This is getting WAY too convenient! I'm wondering if Sacramento has a

I am going to use an Elecraft antenna tuner with the K2, but I have not

FT-817 rather than the K2, however. The few reviews of those
I was wondering if anyone has used both the KAT2 and T1 with the K2 and is
willing to share the relative merits of each with me.

Gee Jerry, welcome to e-mail. Unwanted e-mail messages appear in
everyone's in-box. That in itself should be no big deal.

I am using the T1 with a K1 and the only problem is that the K1 can not talk

I received the same e-mail message. I was glad to see it and am
considering doing the upgrade. To me it isn't spam at all.
Fortunately, the definition of spam is not subjective. Spam is unsolicited
commercial email, whether you appreciate receiving it or not. Harvesting
names from Web sites,
I do not mind so much Elecraft builders advertising their wares via the

inevitable consequence of belonging to an email list, is getting spam
from some organisation or individual hawking something which has nothing
to do

I will have to redo my tests. As I think about it, it may have been
between letters that I was hearing rather than between elements.
The thumping on the Yaesu with the delay setting of 0 certainly put
me off the Yaesu as it got really tiring really fast.

I do believe that Don's rationale quoted below is well considered.
I did it without first installing the KPA100 in the K2. Absolutely no
problems.
There were not any strange problems with putting it in the separate

It's 20 watts regardless, Harlan. The KPA100 doesn't even come into the
question. The transverter takes a very low level 28 MHz signal from the K2,
up-converts it to 6 meters (or whatever band transverter you use), then
amplifies that signal and sends it to the antenna. It's that power amplifier
