Dear Elecrafters,
I had left my rig on over night, and this mornings ice 'storm' brought a few
strokes of unexpected lightning to the area. Now my K2 (with KSB2, KNB2, KAT2)
is constantly transmitting dits with both mic and key removed. I'm afraid it
might be the MCU. Is this problem
I haven't been able to get on the air much in the last year, but I found a way
around it - a 40m hamstick on the car with my K2 at 10 Watts (I figure it's QRP
with the hamstick's efficiency) to and from work and occasionally in the
evening. Just about everytime I've gotten on the air, I've managed

Along those same lines - back about 10 years ago while trying to participate in
field day with a group of local hams at a cabin in the U.P. of Michigan, I
ended up stringing an 80m dipole up about 6-10 feet off the ground, and made
dozens of contacts within 500 miles (MI, WI, MN, IA, IL, IN). I

Thank God for the ever humble CW ops I enjoy bumping into both here on the
Elecraft reflector and on the CW/QRP portions of the band. I can't think of a
single inconsiderate CW op I've worked in the last 3 years since I've been
active with my K2. My wife also often peeks at my notebook (or laptop)
Is it possible to modify the VOX sensitivity (or reduce the ALC action) so that
an operator using PSK31 could run without a PTT relay, relying upon the VOX
alone - and yet, not having enough input to have the ALC kick in?
I'm looking at the KSB2 schematic as I write, and it looks like the VOX and
Google (and Elecraft) has answered my question...

version of the Elecraft CW Net Tuesday evening (UTC Wed) from z-0100z on
10115 +/- 2kHz.
30m is (in my opinion) one of the best bands to operate QRP because it has less

consensus is that I need an Iron Core Toroid ... something along
