All this talk of easy RTTY QSOs got me going: I rigged my K2 with
a couple of patch cords to the sound card and figured out MMTTY: I
just made my first ever RTTY QSO to VP6DX with 5W on 30M ...
I've got them QRP/CW on 80-10 and RTTY on 30. I'll keep trying for 160 but my
best antenna for that is

This is not only important on UHF and above... It is important on VHF as well!
Granted nobody cares about this on HF, but 6m and above, it is tremendously
useful -- one could even say crucial. Björn, you described the FT-897
capabilities very well, and that's exactly how

G'day,
Has anyone else noticed a slight chuffing of the CW sidetone when in QSK
mode. The chuffing is absent when in manual TX. I guess it's probably
the change over from band noise to sidetone. Nevertheless it sounds odd.

We just tested a new batch of KPA3 modules and compiled data on their
3rd-order IMD performance. This topic has been of interest lately, so I

I should quit now, but I just realized that a bad review is a good thing
in one respect, it shows that if you get a bad radio, you're not alone.
There's probably TWO out there. :)
Honestly, I doubt all the radios are working at the time they're
received, but if you listen to some of the goings
I'd like to use the voice keyer in MacLoggerDX, but since I have to switch
input from line in to rear mic do this, its a bit tedious.
Of course when the voice keyer becomes available, I wont have problem, but
until then, any suggestions for making this easier.

It might be easy for you but 10W in Northern Europe into a wire dipole is not
enough to crack the pile ups.
I have given up trying to work them.

changing R6 in the ATU but somehow never got around to doing it.
The resistor change has taken care of the problem and now on
alignment of the 6 meter transverter.

I'm currently assembling a KAT1 for use with my already-completed K1-4
(which I'd previously been using with an external tuner), and I'm
having some trouble with the final step of the SWR bridge adjustment
of trimmer capacitor C9. I did verify the previous steps of setting
power

Adjusting R1 for 3.8 volts. But turned full up I can only achieve 3.666
volts.
Is this a problem?

Well yes, I was glad to make a QSO, DXCC number 223 on QRP. But I would
certainly not say it was easy and it took quite a few mornings before I

regulator (Control Board U4)
It will llikely not cause any problem at all if you simply set the
Threshold to max. You could consider replacing the regulator if it

things up at VP6DX as we speak. But give that antenna a try
on 160. The K3's ATU seems to be very wide ranged. I
worked VP6DX on all modes from 10 through 160--that's 20 out
of 22 possible (didn't hear a peep on 6

zero volts when there is no power going through the wattmeter section of

The rig was in 'TUN' mode as according to the instructions, but I wasn't
actually keying down. Perhaps I missed that?
I checked out T1 but I'll triple check it this evening, and I'll also test
