OK - giving applications a proper environment helped somewhat. I got rid of the ghostscript error message when Scribus starts up, and I can input text into the GIMP. Now, I just need to install an older version of Scribus, as you suggested (since I still cannot see or use fonts in the Scribus

OK - another problem. Scribus 1.0.1-21 doesn't show up in the fink list, although it is listed as stable in the fink website package database. Is there a simple way to get it to show up? If I allow unstable packages to show up, I get Scribus 1.1.2, which is what I initially stalled (and had

I did remember correctly--there have indeed been other complaints about bus errors running gaim-0.68-1 via binary on Panther. However, no solution seems to have been offered. If you have the Xcode Tools installed you could try building it from source. -- Alexander Hansen Levitated Dipole

hi, so i managed to install another version of gaim (.74-11) using fink update gaim. by changing the fink.conf (adding unstable/... to tree: ) i also selected cvs instead of rsync, etc. 2 things: first, i can now successfully open gaim (yay!!) however all the text in the window is written
