Hi Guys,
Im having troubles with the Flexwire port (FLEX3000) and getting line audio in
from my rack.
The active/hot is obviously pin 2 - however which ground should be used, pin 1
or pin 5 (or are they the same?)
I wired it up via pin 1 as ground and 2 as hot/live/audio+ however cant get any

One question however,
Has anyone else noticed much worse RF getting in via Flexwire vs Mic socket?
Or is it just me...

The video card is a NVIDIA GeForce 8400 GS with 256 Meg of memory.
I also tried changing the process mode to normal instead of real time, but
it didn't make any difference.
Does anyone think it would be the video card ?
Thanks Again.

Anthony,
As a user of outboard audio equipment and a F5K I ran into a problem last
week that may shed some light on what you are seeing. I was using a preamp
and condenser studio mic; the preamp has a row of LEDs to show the audio
level output. This was setup with about three of twelve LEDs
That card should work OK. Do you have the latest NVIDIA drivers loaded? That
would be version 195.62 released on 11-26-2009
Also make sure that in the Windows System Properties - Advanced tab, that you
have the Performance Options set for Adjust for Best Performance

Ken,
I have the same video card here is two different systems, no large jump
in CPU in CW. Have tried resetting the DB? The video does transition
going from RX to TX, if you are worried about the video, try two
things, one, just turn off the panadapter to see if the jump goes down
I am going to upgrade my card for more memory, and this one looks like a
good deal. Thanks to everyone for the input.
I'll probably learn to live with it for now, since so far, it doesn't seem
to bother the operation of it at all (watch, now that I've said that, it
will start). hi hi

I'll do that today and see. Thanks

My cpu usage display in Power SDR disappeared following a crash the

I recently installed PowerSDR 1.18.3 on a new Windows 7 system (Flex 5000A,
Firmware: 1.3.0.8, Firewire driver: 3.5.0.7171). The install went well and
PowerSDR and the 5000A seem to be working fine. However, turning on the RX1
preamp causes the RX2 S-Meter reading to increase by about 20dB.
I should have mentioned the RX2 is connected to the RX1 tap.

Sounds like you need to do a RX1 and RX2 level calibration.

I'll try running the calibration later today. Would that explain why the
RX1 preamp has any impact on RX2? Shouldn't the two receivers be fully
independent?

I reset the database, did a hardware reset, and then performed the RX1 level
and image calibration, followed by the RX2 full calibration. I'm still
seeing the same issue. On 20M USB (the band is dead now), with a dipole
attached to Ant1, RX 1 set to Ant 1 and RX2 set to RX1 Tap, I start
I am not a major techie, but was able to get up and on the air for several
months now. This weekend, I have had choppy audio after several minutes of
monitoring and if I transmit, the radio locks up and PowerSDR has to be
restrarted. I have the flex 3000 running with a Dell Studio 15 running
Clay,
The 6 meter filter on RX2 may fail occasionally and with a small db
difference as you noted (for a filter to fail on the edges of 1.6 db is
OK) the setting is just alittle tight, run it several more times and
it most likely will pass one..
Try this on your receivers, go to Test
Jeff,
If it is just 40 meters I would suspect RF, and 40 meters is my worse

What you need to do is download DPCLAT and check the DPC latencies and
correlate that with the choppy audio and freezes. If you see large spikes
(in excess of 2000 us) in DPCLAT at the same time you are having audio quality
problems, then that is the problem you have to solve. Solving a long
The only time I've seen this problem is when RX2 is set to RX1 Tap.
However, I have a 2nd 6M antenna preamp connected to the RX2 in and don't
have any other HF antennas to connect at the moment. I have observed the
problem on 80-10M.
I did a database reset before I started the calibration.
Clay,
There is not a band stacking or band buffer on RX2, so if you select
the band in the RX2 window, it should always go back to the low end of
each band. Easiest way to select a buffered band settings is to use
RX1 to select the proper band/pre-set settings and then to the AB to
