Hi.
This is just a question for Liam Urven which I sent a few weeks ago.
I didn't get an initial response to my message, and to be honest did
wonder if it arrived alright.
I remember Liam, you were kind enough to provide me with keys for my laptop to
Judgement day and Superliam.
Folks,
What blind-accessible world-building games do you like?
To what degree is Civilization blind-accessible?
Reason I ask is that the mom of a blind kid asked me if our company has
one of those. And we don't. So I told her I'd ask the experts and point
her at one.
Probably there's one that
Hi John.
As far as specifically audio games, the answer is there aren't any.
There is sound rts, but that's deffinately closer to warcraft than
Civilization, and the objective is pretty heavily battle focused.
On the other hand there are a hole load of online resource and empire

Hi John,
From my games list, I can think of two,
First is, Marco Steinebach and Andrea Mackowiak's Mardy-Productions.

It is a trading simulation which starts in 1770 in the wild west of America.

Hi Phil,
Thanks for the email. I had no idea that some keyboards came with a mute key.
Thank goodness mine doesn't. My advice is that if you're keyboard has a mute
key, label it in a way that you know what the key is. I'm glad you're wife

Hi.
There's nothing wrong with high definnition in itself. I think it's just your

the main desktop is a treat.
there are speakers with seperate volume control and one on the keyboard, you

But you can't nock it, you really have to shove the button down and it is an

one thing I like about this toshiba is the power button is on the top left.
The next 2 buttons are set for different security and configuration options.
Due to power programs and other things being inaccessible I have managed to

I've got power saver on there myself, and actually make use of it on various

I don't recognize the other utilities you mention though.

Hi John,
I've tried Civilization and Galaxy Civilization and neither are
accessible from a blind player's perspective. Which is too bad as I like
both games much, and what we do have as alternatives are just aren't the
same.
The first game that comes to mind is an audio rendition of Warcraft
Hi,
Well, Personally, I don't think anything comes close to the Soundblaster
X-/FI. I am personally fond of that sound card, and the cheaper sound
cards like the AC-97 are, well, cheap to me. However, I do use the AC-97
in my Linux boxes because Linux seams to like those cards for some reason.
Hi Thomas and John,
There is an open-source civilisation-type game, which could, I think, be
made accessible with not too much effort, especially for us who like that
sort of thing. Many elements of the game is text-based, it's just a question
of the interface being quite difficult to control
Well I get the cheap cards with my laptops and desktops because they are
internal about themselves.
A nice no frills card is the soundmax.
its not much but its ok.
I have an sb16 also.
The last card that I have had that was a pci card was a forte media fm801.

Frankly there are lots of games that could be made accessible, if only
companies would be a little cooperative.
As far as mainstream accessible civilizations-type games, I can't
think of any. I've played several, thanks to a friend, but they just

Hi,
I agree there. I have it on this hp laptop and nothings wrong with it - I

me because I can't turn the volume of that down, 0 percent and
