I do NOT want to migrate to Modular X.
I set my video card in /etc/make.conf as follows:

What should I do now. Just emerge --unmerge on each unnecessary package ?

When I play a sound I can hear the short unexpected sound at the end.
This unexpected sound lasts no more than a second and gives the effect of echo.
It looks like a part of the original file is repeated at the end.
This unexpected sound is not contained in a file.

Is it enough to compile the kernel with automatic module loading option ?

Try to recompile it with lame use flag.
My mplayer-1.0_rc1_p20070824 doesn't have lame (or
similar) flag.
I use equery uses mplayer to retrieve the USE flag
settings.

How to force emerge to continue build with the next
