Has anyone played around with the various better known compilers on
Gentoo? By better known, I'm referring to gcc, Intel, llvm, pathscale.

The funny thing is that the day before, on another computer, portage resolved
the blocker automatically by re-emerging llvm and octave (slot-operator

of the day, if the computer takes an extra 20% time, I'm not
bothered. If I'm sat at the computer 20% time extra because the system
isn't responding because emerge has bogged it down, then I do care. And
when I'm building things like webkit-gtk, llvm, LO, FF and TB, they do
hammer my system. If they're running in parallel, my system would be
near unusable.

I can't figure out why a perl update isn't building. This is only
happening on one single machine out of the half dozen Gentoo systems I
have running. I've never had issues building perl itself either.
Modules sure, but never the main perl package.

I updated my PC today, and there was a lot of KDE-related packages being
updated.
As part of my usual update procedure I depclean'ed and ran
revdep-rebuild.sh - and it wants to rebuild every single package on my
system? Surely that has to be some kind of mistake?
Anyone have any insight?

Howdy,
I been working on the profile switch. I followed the directions in the
news item up until the rm part in #12. I did a equery b for a few files
in the two directories and it has files that equery shows belonging to
packages. They are not orphans since they are owned. Here is a list of
