Our Geoserver was, again, out of service. Version 2.3.1 on Ubuntu 12.04 server.
I found several Java heap space errors, similar as below. Heap size is alrady
512.
2014-12-05 12:05:44,042 ERROR [geoserver.ows] -
java.lang.OutOfMemoryError: Java heap space
Then this flushedPos error
For some reason I cannot download data from our Geoserver as a zipped
shapefile. The file I get, is always only 397 bytes, and it cannot be opened.
Any idea what has been gone wrong. Downloading worked well at least 5-6 months
ago, and Geoserver version is still the same, old 2.3.1. We don't

probably the file is an error from geoserver in xml format. Have you tried
opening the file with a text editor and see if it contains the description of
the error?

Seems that using native JAI and imageio causes problems with WFS-T.
Tested with Geoserver 2.4.0, Tomcat7, Postgresql 9.1, Postgis 2. I, JDK
1.7.25, Ubuntu 12.04
Problem: Cannot save data to database. Not a big problem. Can live well without
Native JAI etc.

Tasmania_cities is an odd shapefile for a demo data. The shapefile is of type
multipoint
Geoserver comes with a simple wfs-t example (wfs-t.html). I tested it, and it
works when those layers it calls are shapefiles. However, when I move layers to
a postgis database and make some fixes to code (namespace etc), location
information does not go to database, although I get

I am quite new to Geoserver too, but I have made some simple javascript based
apps.
I have created a web page in Georserver's www folder. Then I created a folder
externals in www-folder, where I have put all my .js files.
All my web pages code (html) then point to that folder like this:
I am sure, if this has anything to do with layergroups, but with layers I have
noticed one thing.
Layer names must be one word. So not my layer but mylayer, my_layer,
my-layer etc. Maybe one of the layergoup layers is not visible, and that
prevents the whole layergroup from being visible in

Hmm, but is it safe to use per workspace GetCapabilities? I think that is
necessary, if one workspace is for WMS, and the other for WFS. We have a
confiruration here, where common WMS and WFS are turned off and those services
are configured by workspace.

Sorry, web.xml changes does not change anything. Although I delete the wrong
data directory (using root rights) it is there again, when I start tomcat7
service. I cannon find any log file, and when I try to see the log under
Geoserver, I get this...

I just changed my test environment from Jetty-based to Tomcat7. Everything
works, but how can I tell to Tomcat7, where is my data???
I have set GEOSERVER_DATA_DIR environment variable right but Tomcat7 does not
care whatever I set and restart Tomcat7

I have read the following in user manual, but I cannot understand this
I have two layers a raster and a vector in the same workspace. The raster layer
can be seen freely (ROLE_ANONYMOUS) and the vector is behind a password
(specific user). Both layers work as expected when accessed individually, BUT
when I combine them in a layer group, the system won't work.
