I guess that one code snippet is pretty cryptic. Here's my whole
function BLDFDA. This is a step in copying the (parsed) contents of an
HL7 message to Fileman.

Dead wrong... Java is an object oriented system,
relational databases are not (forget the add-on marketing). Apples and oranges.
Java and Object Oriented databases are "better suited together".

I am still confused as to why Kevin is going through all these gyrations for
creating scripts to set up a user especially since his scripts appear to be
hardcoding the values to assign. The Kernel has provided APIs to do this
very thing for many years. Staff at the VA set up a new user with one
I suspect he is creating a generic populatioin tool so he can move data
into the system, automate tasks driven by a GUI, etc. But, hey,
Kevin... tell us again about your approach.

Steven,
Thanks for your feedback.
My intent in creating an installation program was to
create a one-shot install wizard. I am not aware of
any code that will do this currently. I have the
following layers (from lowest to highest):
1. VistA code
2. Script interpreter
3. XML Script
4.
Can someone please provide some suggested standard users, please? There have
got to be lots of them out there, and there should be noting confidential
about the entries. Kevin can do a lot with a simple printout from a D P^DI
Option 5 printout of those users.
The work he is doing is not
Look at the option:
'Grant Access by Profile' Option name: XUSERBLK
This option allows the adding or editing of one or more users according
to an existing user profile. The complete profile of the actual or
dummy user, menus and keys included, is copied to the other users.
You're probably right. This is just something I've neve tried to do, so
I was uncertain as to whether it would work, particularly (as I
explained previously) because there seemed to be an ambiguity in how it
could be interpreted. I'll have to go back to the documentation and
take a closer look.
I definitely support Joseph's statement, as Rick and other hard hats
already know. I felt dissolution of both the MTA and the MDC were wrong
following the 1999 meeting and the fact that the Millenium Standard was
ready for ballot at that last meeting but never happened was a setback. It

Hardhats, if you haven't gotten signed up for the vista-open-source list, you
had better do it. I just did it and what is happening there is important.
You may not agree with me, but I suggest you sign up and voice your opinion.
You don't have to be a WV member to care about this.
Greg,
I really appreciate the help you have given me here. I think I have figure it out now So don't feel you need to do any research. After all, it's Thanskgiving Eve!
Happy TurkeyDay!

I'm not sure whether or not you will need to establish a password, but try the link.
