Do not forget that most scheduler's have a way to trigger jobs by
messages. You could have your scheduler trigger a email job if you have
email or at least send a message to the console saying to call one of the
storage group folks.

A z/OS1.10 should have the 2098 in the HCD unless you are using a back
level HCD for an old z/OS system. Then you have to put the PTF's on for

There was another comment that was actually correct when you FTP a GDG it
the windows serve whether it was or wasn't created in the JCL stream with
the FTP it will always be the (0) generation. This works in my FTP

I hope that someone has seen this before. We are running z/OS1.10. I noticed
in a RMM report a couple weeks ago that the HSM backup copy tapes that
were supposed to go offsite for 15 days then come back were going offsite
then coming back the next day. Some of the HSM backup copy tapes are put
with a batch job. Or else I have to get a 3174 and a dumb terminal to get
to TSO and run the IOACMD.

I have an OS390 1.3 system running on a 2003. No that is not a typo. It has
a OSA card. We have the same for DR. I can restore and IPL the system but
the OSA gives me problems. I am doing this remotely so all I have is the
operating system messages on the HMC. I can get to the DASD with an z/OS
how far the mainframe has come till you go back 14 years.

I have never tried it with an expired cert but have you tried to change
the end date in the expired cert yet to see if that fixes your problem.
When creating certs I always change the expire date to something way out
there so I do not have problems.

With the help of IBM I figured out what the problem was. The company sent
me their signed cert. All I needed to do was use the versign class3 cert
in RACF. I created another keyring connected it to the cert and it worked.
That was way to easy in the end.

I am trying to do a SSL FTP from the mainframe to another server out side of
our network. I can do a FTP SSL to the mainframe from outside of the
network. I imported the CERT from the client and set it up. I searched the
archives and this before and it looks like I have it defined correctly in
For VSAM entries check the Z/os1.9 VSAM migration. I would check the
rename job you ran for the answers. For the rest I would do a listcat on
your catalogs and I think you will find the other data sets.
If you are creating a page data set on one system for use another create
the page data set
I had a situation once in setting up a switch configuration where the
activation went fine but I had one channel that would never come on line.
What happened was at the remote site they had a mix of different FICON
cables at the remote site. I had the remote site put matching cables and

I found some hits at IBM but none applied RACF looks correct. Any

Look at the index and see if it is full and if it is setup to allocate
secondary extents. I had something similar before happen and it was the
index. Also if it was created to span multiple volumes and it is NONSMS
make sure the other volumes actually exist.

Yes that works for printers put these are remote printers setup with
routes. I have not found a way to delete the printers I have removed from
the JES PARMS and they are still there.
