I'll set up a git repo and publish here, so if anyone is interested
it'll be possible to follow the development.
The easiest would be to make a GitHub fork to ba able to create

Noone that I know of.
It should be fairly easy to do basing on one of the existing backends.

Thanks, I got a debug log by specifying a debug path in router.xml,
but it doesn't say XML parser error; am I missing something from
stderr that doesn't make it to the logfile?
This is logged in the normal, not debug log.

EK What does config.log say about it?
As the rooot message said-
./conftest: error while loading shared libraries: libgsasl.so.7:
cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
How did the test compilation line
shared object file: No such file or directory
Is your dynamic linker configured to look for dynamic libraries
in /usr/local/lib ? ( /etc/ld.so.conf )

cat /etc/ld.so.conf
include ld.so.conf.d/*.con
/usr/local/libf
But correcting it made no difference
After editing /etc/ld.so.conf you need to run ldconfig (as root) to
generate /etc/ld.so.cache

It seems that the pubsub support is not included in the source of
jabberd2.
That's correct.
So where can I get the pubsub support add-on for jabberd2?
Just setup any other server with PubSub module and use its PubSub
service.

These components use standard XEP-0114 Jabber Component Protocol thus
work with jabberd2 just fine.
