Yes, you are quite right! I didn't realize that when in the navigation pane
pressing spacebar still goes result to result and JAWS speaks the found
result. It seems to me that at one time using the navigation pane

This is useful information, as always, but it does seem a bit complicated.
When I do a control-f search, JAWS
for that.
I'm using Office 2010, JAWS 18 (last but one release) and Win7.

In step 6 of the steps I gave to change CTRL F to apply to the EditFind
command, I said that you should press enter key when you find the EditFind
command in the list of commands

It is really best to work in print view when using Word. Keystrokes such as
Alt
Print view is my default, and I believe it is recommended for accessibility.
When another view comes up, as sometimes happens, I press alt-control-p to
return to print view.
As for the find function, you're right, the escape key used to work. In word
2010, it still does for me. I don't know
