Word & Excel documents will always arrive in protected mode as an attachment
to an email. If you have used this file before & is now showing as
protected then that is another of those great cosmic mysteries about
computers as to what caused it.
At any rate
You can also copy and paste the attachment onto your computer and it might
come up unprotected if the person didn't actively protect it.
