Re: [JAWS-Users] Inquiring about Program or Website for Checking Words

2017-04-24 Thread Adrian Spratt
Michele,

I realize this is your second post of this query. What occurs to me is that a
dictionary will automatically give you a list of word that share the same
prefix, right? They'll come right after each other in a dictionary's
alphabetical order. As for suffixes, I wonder what kind of suffix you have in
mind? The "tion" or "ing" ending? If something more restrictive, such as
"philia" or "ology," I bet an imaginative Google search would do the job.

Hi all. Does anyone know of a program or website where one can enter prefixes
or suffixes and come up with a list of words containing the same? I am trying
to correct some Braille errors from various quotes I have copied for personal
use, and am running up against some real doozies. I thought a program or
website like this might be helpful. Unfortunately, the dictionary programs on
my BrailleSense u2 and BrailleNote Apex, while great for dictionary and
thesaurus references, are not helpful for something like this.

Cheers!

hi Melissa,
Webroot causes lots of problems with assistive technology. their are
various people who have posted about it making something wrong with
System Access, on the users forum for that product, and it doesn't
surprize me that Webroot effects JAWS authorization. everybody who
replyed to posts on the subject, say to get rid of it and switch to
another antivirus selution. Viber also has problems with assistive
technology. I would recommend Windows Defender over Webroot.
Thanks,
Daniel

[JAWS-Users] JAWS keeps wanting me to authorize it

2017-04-24 Thread Melissa Hambleton
Just today after a message from Webroot came up for me to get rid of a
threat, JAWS would say it needed to be authorized.

Now I have gone through the steps several times and more with what I am
about to write plus if I would update the authorization JAWS would not allow
me to move around the screen but only remain on the Desktop each and every
time and would not allow me to read the dialog screens so I had to have
sighted help.

No matter how many times clicking on OK and updating authorization, either
it would not go through and if it did, the same authorization screen would
come up. Some times it would say the authorization would fail and other
times it would go through just fine. I used the internet option and my
authorization code was in each time so that wasn't the problem.

I turned off the computer and I also tried resetting it many times but the
same messages would come up. If I uninstalled JAWS 18 and reset the computer
and used a different version the same message would come up.

The only thing I can do that seems to work is not turn JAWS off and not turn
the computer off and not reset the computer. I can turn JAWS 18 off and then
turn an earlier version on of JAWS on but I can't turn JAWS 18 off and then
reset the computer to use an earlier version or even have JAWS 18
uninstalled and then reset the computer to use an earlier version.

I'd like to have this resolved as soon as I can. I'd like to turn off the
computer when not in use but if I do that even if JAWS 18 is uninstalled the
same message will come up like I have said. I'm not sure why I can turn off
version 18 and then go to an earlier version and then things will be fine.

Any suggestions? I will call and get help if need be but I'd like to see if
others had similar problems.

Thank you,

Melissa

Hello list,

Using JFW 18 and Outlook 2016, I often encounter an issue where I’m working
in Outlook, be it the calendar, mail or notes view and Jaws will lose focus
and start speaking the content of another view in outlook. The only way for
me to get focus back and navigate the window I’m in is to tab/shift+tab or
control+tab/control+shift+tab.

I have noticed this issue in earlier versions of Jaws 18/ 17, etc. Also in
Outlook 2010. I’m not entireley sure, but it feels like it’s happening more
often with Outlook 2016. It could be though that this is the program I use
the most throughout the day and thus deal with this focus issue more often
because of it.

Is anyone else dealing with this problem and do they perhaps have a fix for
it that I’m maybe not aware of? That or is it another one of those Jaws
buggy issues?

I do encounter this problem on two separate machines. A Dell desktop and HP
laptop. So I’m pretty certain it’s not a system specific issue.

Thanks.

Hello, everyone.

It seems that I have narrowed the Jaws crashing issue on my current Windows
7 computer down to the following sequence of events.

Jaws seems to crash when I exit Microsoft Word while Outlook is also open.
Once this happens, Jaws will stop speaking, and I can't re-activate Jaws
either via the usual Alt Control J shortcut, or the Windows R command.

The only way I can re-start Jaws is to do a hard shut-down of the computer.

My sighted wife says Jaws looks like it is still up on the screen, but she
can't do anything to re-activate it either, short of manually shutting down
the computer.

Does anyone have a sequence of steps to get out of this issue?

Does anyone know if FS is aware of the problem??

I did not have this problem prior to updateing to Jaws 18.

Dr. Tom Behler from Michigan

[JAWS-Users] Focus issues with Jaws and Outlook 2016

2017-04-24 Thread Cristóbal

Thanks.

Cristobal

For anyone who has been missing a good, Jaws accessible weather site, the

Good afternoon, listers, Brian Zolo here in Gahanna, Ohio. U sed to use
braille.wunderground.com but they now just give the temperature for your
area and not the forecast. I'm looking for a good weather site as I want
to
keep up on forecasts and also monitor severe weather. Thanks so much!

Re: [JAWS-Users] Continued Jaws Crashing

2017-04-24 Thread Dave
David,

Okay, at last a positive suggestion for these Word-related crashes. I've
checked my Word 2007 and all those checkmarks were active. I've unchecked
all three and wait with baited breath for an improvement.

Appreciate your substantive inputs.

Hello Tom;
My wife was experiencing the freezing up issue in word,
I did the following whitch seemed to help.

1, open MSWord,
2, alt+f=file, T=options,
3, now, use up arrow key and find general,
4, tab and make sure,
Show mini toolbar on selection check box,
Is unchecked,
Also make sure the next 2 check boxes are unchecked.

Hope this helps.

Well, I spoke too soon.

I just had the Jaws crash again, and your suggested command worked.

Thanks!

At least I can re-start things now if need be.

When the problem occurred, and I used the Jaws key Windows F4 command, I got
an error report dialog, and send that onto FS.

Patti,
Above is a link to the Online Bible which I have used since DOS days.
It is very powerful with around 100 translations in various languages, includes
numerous study aids.
Most importantly they make a genuine effort to be accessible and are. It works
very smoothly with JAWS. I use it in my computer, not sure if they have an App
for your phone.

Does anyone know how to get read of the extra voice on RS games?

We uninstalled rs games, and reinstalled it, and turned off jaws, and turned
it back on, but that didn't fix it.

Everything is up to date, windows10, jaws18, and the latest rs game.
