Interesting that nowhere do I see the simplest form of lacemaking stand. It
is a simple adjustable column (raises or lowers to any convenient height),
is steadied by a flat area for one's feet, and supports

So, next thought: I could put bay leaves in the centre of the wool, It works
in flour, rice, and other dry foodstuffs etc. to keep vermin at bay. Trial
only will tell me if I am right or not.

There is a wonderful winder made in Germany. It is made of wood and there
is a power-pack that plugs in. For those of us in the US, the maker
supplies the power pack for our AA batteries. It is very
rner.
Also have a Torchon pattern for a whirly thingy on another pillow which I
take to local group when we meet once a month.
At a recent lace fair I bought a set of her latest Christmas ornament
patterns, really beautiful ones, so must have a go at some of those.
